Got another round of stuff off my watch list:

Stranger Things Season 4 was amazing and gets a high recommendation from me. The wait was worth it. This is probably the best season since the first. The threat and tone of the season are a tribute to A Nightmare on Elm Street and It, which it uses to great effect in multiple ways. Uses most of its returning characters effectively with compelling arcs, the new additions are great, and the storyline is wisely broken up into three parts so the large cast can get equal spotlight. Superb soundtrack, the increased budget makes the VFX better than ever, intriguing world-building, the right balance of horror elements and 80s nostalgia, the plot has much better pacing and focus than seasons 2 and 3, and Vecna is a strong contender for villain of the year in my book. Very much looking forward to seeing how it all ends in the fifth and final season.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was... ok-ish. I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. Lots of neat visuals, some cool scenes and concepts, but a very messy plot and sloppy execution, with some creative decisions I found to be dumb or cheap. And some characters get treated badly or are wasted. Not without its moments(that "musical duel" scene gets a special kudos from me in particular), but this is one of those MCU movies where I'll probably never feel the desire to ever seen again.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is an insane experience, in the best way possible. This is another story focusing on multiverses, and it takes that concept all the way to its ultimate conclusion and beyond. A very bizarre film, but very enjoyable. Great performances all around. It's not an action movie, but it does have plenty of it. Surprisingly funny, and surprisingly with a lot of heart in the final accounting, as at first it looked like it was going down a nihilistic road which would have lost me but it actually turned into a vehement refutation of it. Also, shoutout to Jonathan Ke Quan for being in this--Goonies never say die!

The Black Phone was very enjoyable, feeling like a cross between a 70s thriller/horror and an Edgar Allen Poe story. Ethan Hawke does a fantastic job playing a creepy as fuck serial killer. My only complaint is that I wish it was more scary, but that's more my fault than the movie's, as I've seen so many horror films in my time it hard to find anything these days than can deliver that thrill of fear.

The Sea Beast was a fun if predictable watch. It's basically How to Train Your Dragon but with sea monsters, as you could have guessed from the trailers and marketing. Has some likable characters, good voice acting, an interesting setting, creative creatures, impressive ocean battles, universal themes, and fantastic cgi. Its central conflict gets resolved a little too easily for my liking, but this is a kids movie at the end of the day, so it's not fair to judge it too harshly from my adult perspective.

Sonic 2 was a very charming film. When it focuses on the humans at the wedding, it's boring, but whenever Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, or Robotnik are on screen, which is often, it's a lot of fun. And I say that as someone who was never a Sonic fan growing up, never played the games or watched the animated series or read the comics.

Other 3 years of Multiverse... I'm tired of it already. They literally have access to THOUSANDS of characters and over half a century of stories, but nope, let's just make umptheen variants of the same couple dozen characters.

On She-Hulk. Why is she breaking the 4th Wall? Did she do that in the comics at some point? Because I don't remember that.
At least the animation looks slightly better.

On Black Panther - Okay so it's Wakanda vs Namor and Atlantis (who is now Mezo-American for representation reasons). I dunno, seeing as Chadwick Boseman kinda carried that whole character I guess I am kinda meh on the future of Black Panther now. It looks perfectly serviceable, but I really never gave a shit about Namor before, so changing him doesn't really register anything with me, interest or derision.

On Shazam - Looks fun as fuck. Is DC gonna take over the fun factor now we've had MCU fatigue?
