The first game was a good concept, just... not very well executed. If they can learn from the first game's mistakes, a sequel might turn out to be a fairly solid game.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
You know what bugs me? When I hear someone in the classic scenario of "you have to spend X billions of dollars in X amount of time" say something like "I'd have to buy 15 Lamborghinis and Ferraris every day for 20 years to spend that much money" or "I'd have to buy a new house every day..." and such and such. Why do people think so small? I can spend X billion dollars in an instant. I'd just make a replica WWII aircraft carrier to scale. Or even better, the star ship Enterprise D to scale. Bam! Billion dollars plus gone in an instant.

I'd just buy a nice comfy house, a small car, a shitload of animals and hobby stuff, and live my life in peace and far away from assholes as much as possible.
And possibly use part of my money to fund something worthwhile like scientific research, or fun like comics and videogames.
I don't really care of covering myself in riches and shit, and I like to think that wouldn't change if I had any.

Pretty much this. I would make sure all my close family and friends were settled for life in respectable but not ostentatious surroundings. Then the rest would go to science research and historical preservation and wildlife conservation and whatnot.

I'll never understand why some people need to show and buy so much useless shit.
the post is over, stop reading and move on.

That's a classic scenario? That's a new one for me. Never heard it before.
Seems like a silly thought experiment to me. What's the point? Better to ask "If you woke up tomorrow a billionaire, what would you do with your newfound wealth?" Revel in it and spend it willy-nilly? Invest it wisely? Fund your own business ventures? Donate it to various charities and causes of your choosing? Invest in your nation's infrastructure or education and whatnot? Fund space exploration? Buy tons of submersibles to explore the the ocean depths that remain unexplored? Make your own movies and tv shows? Fund research into curing diseases? Buy an island? Set up a protected nature preserve? Build the biggest mansion/castle ever? Buy a fleet of personal jets or cars or yachts? Try to clone a wooly mammoth? Buy your own personal zoo? Buy a tank and use to run over things for fun in your giant backyard? Purchase your own sports team? Give most of it away to a another person you feel deserves it more? All of the above?

Could you actually spend a billion dollars though? Yeah, a few homes payed off and some people being well off would maybe equal something less than maybe 10 million. What would you do with the other 990 million?

You could blow a fuckton of it if you just dedicated it to funding space exploration for one. Or set up a huge wildlife preserve.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Sending a rover to Mars can easily cost a couple billions. So even if you had a billion to throw at space exploration, it'd probably not be enough to go to another planet or asteroid. But it'd be a boon to study better ways to leave Earth, or to build space stations, I'd assume.
And you could build a huge museum, a library or a natural preserve, as said, if you preferred something more of this world.
Or you can buy an island in Costa Rica and build a theme park, I guess...

I once heard someone say they talked to a guy who made so much money that if $15,000 fell out of his pocket he could make that all back before it hit the ground. Buying cars, houses are things most people think of being expensive because for most people those are the most expensive things in our lives, save for medical expenses. The concept of a billion is so much more than a million though that using a scenario where you would spend that amount most people I assume would be stumped around 150 million or so, with 850 million left. It's just such a large number to conceive. There's not a lot of things that come in that large of a number. But money can, that's what makes it an easy thought process.

First "hybrid" fossils found of some extremely close evolutionary cousins of ours.
So there you go, xenophilia is official biology.

I'm tempted to pick up Battle for Azeroth. I have never subbed for WoW before, but I have many, many friends who still play it and they still urge me to try it out. Supposedly, the best time to get into the game is when a new expansion launches, since the game is buzzing again and everyone learns new things anyway. I hear it's a good expansion, although I wouldn't know a good one from a bad one in the case of WoW.
Really, the main reason why my interest in it has raised is because I finally watched one of the trailers and they did a Metallica cover in it. This will be the third time a Metallica song hooks me into something new.

2019 is going to be a good year for Metroidvanias. Or at least it seems that way as of now. Can't wait for more Ori.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Finished to play the full Banner Saga trilogy, of which I was also a KS backer (well, for the 3rd game at least):
The pros first... it's a very VERY pretty game. Gorgeous artstyle, great music, not much voice acting, but what little that's in, is very completently done. Gameplay-wise it's basically 2 games in one... you have a turn-based combat system with some RPG elements, and a visual novel with lots of twists and turns and choices that affect future outcomes.
The downside is that the combat is fairly repetitive, and you're gonna do ALOT of it, and if you pick the wrong party, or don't level up evenly your whole characters roster, things can get pretty desperate or pretty frustrating, unless you set the combat to Easy, and just focus on the story, tho you'll still have to do the fights, and nerfing down the difficulty makes them easier, but also even more same-y and tedious.
In other words, it's a bit of a reverse Mass Effect kind of deal... good story with twists and choices that matter (even the main main characters can die if you fuck up) but with tedious gameplay. I'd recommend it if you're into norse mythology and fantasy stories inspired by it, since it's definately a good example of the latter, and if turn-based combat systems don't bore you. Otherwise, you're probably better off looking elsewhere.
Me personally, while considering it a flawed game, I'm glad I played all the way through the whole trilogy, and having tossed a few pennies to make sure it was completed.

I appreciate the sentiment. But my preferred style of video game memorabilia are items that look like they have been plucked directly from the game itself.
