So...

Ori 2 delayed again;
Cyborg Jhon Wick in Cyberpunk;
No PC version of the first 4 GoW still;
And Halo Infinite is a proper Halo game...
... but it looks like pretty much confirmed Cortana is the next Catalyst.

Overall it was a quite good presentation, lots of games, a surprising amount of good looking indies too, but it wasn't as good as last year, imho.

Yet it could quite possibly be already the best presentation we're gonna get, unless Nintendo has something real big to show besides more Smash and more Pokemon.

Keanu truly is the gift that keeps on giving. Unless there's a truly gargantuan bombshell of a game reveal/news waiting in the works in the coming days, his surprise appearance in Cyberpunk 2077 and his talk on stage is easily THE moment this year in my opinion.

Id say their show was fine. I wasn't blown away, but I feel good coming out of it. Ill probably buy their next box.

I mean... It will almost assuredly be on the PC. Microsoft doesnt do console exclusives anymore. They do brand Exclusives.

Which confuses me as to why they're still doing the box really.
Well obviously because people would still buy it but if they're moving to brand exclusives then do tandem releases.

So, most anticipated games are now Cyberpunk 2077, Borderlands 3 (FU Epic Games!) and SW: Fallen Order. A good bevy of story-focused single player games for the future. And let's see how Baldur's Gate 3 shakes out.

Well, Bethesda was a shitshow. Ghostwire sounds like an interesting idea, same with Death Loop, but all we got to see was a proof of concept. Doom was the only thing worthwhile that whole conference.

So today was largely inoffensive, though some people seem to have taken Bethesda's as a personal affront because they've been fucking up lately. A few games I'll buy for sure, Doom, Cyberpunk, some I'm interested in, and the usual other crap. Not bad so far!

Man, Bethesda's show was DOGSHIT! I was expecting a pretty bad show anyway, but wow!

Best part was watching the Giant Bomb crew pretend that the Elder Scrolls card game guy was just trippin balls in a coffee shop.

Also that kajiit made me feel things.

Let me see if I can guess the story from the trailer alone.
Hell took Earth, Heaven tries to fix this by killing all demons, humans get caught in crossfire, DOOMGUY defends humans, goes against both Heaven and Hell in the end.
Oh and the AI/robot voice is a literal Deus Ex Machina.
Other than that gameplay is solid looking as always.
I'll buy if I want a random shooting range and I don't have VR by that time yet.

See now, if that were me playing and I tried that, 4 things would probably go wrong.
1) I'd end up not throwing the fire right and end up lighting myself up.
2) On the way up the fire would damage me more and kill me.
3) on the way up the guy would notice sooner and shoot me on the ladder.
4) I'd make it all the way up there and he'd kill me with one shot despite unloading half a magazine into him.

If note all 4 at the same time somehow!
I really have the worst luck in FPS games.

I just bought a big pile of D&D sourcebooks for 5th edition. (Yea, I'm one of those suckers). Though I mostly don't care about the stats and ruleset stuff and much prefer the lore stuff. I had a glut of 3e books back in the day and loved them, but only bought a couple of 4th edition ones because I thought they were sort of subpar. But say whatever you will about the actual ruleset, the 5e sourcebooks are just a ton of fun and are bringing me back to when I would just camp out on the couch and read the Monster Manual or Manual of the Planes.

The art, the lore, the quality of the writing and all that in the new ones are highly entertaining. I'm pleased this stuff can still hold me because I haven't really kept up on it or nerded out over it for years. Lorewise it bodes well for BG3 anyway.

IIRC, I think 4e was really hardcore on mechanics and 5e has gone back to the flavour of 3e in terms of making the game fun and letting the DM/GM worry about the mechanics.

Yeah, I'd say that I vastly prefer Pathfinder over 5e. Sure, it has a few problems like bonuses that barely amount to anything unless you get a dozen of them, but it also has a lot options in terms of character creation and combat that 5e simply doesn't. There's actual strategy in Pathfinder, while 5e is just "whack the enemy with big numbers until they die" and that's not even going into the lazy buff that is legendary actions/resistances. This boss isn't difficult because he has special attacks or abilities or anything. Nope, it's because he is the kid in the sandbox that argues that he's super special and has the super special armor and gets to sneak in attacks between his opponents' turns.

Oh and you don't need a dozen books to play Pathfinder with plenty of options either.

From what I have been reading of the rules, it seems more to be what Mazder is saying. In the 5e monster manual I've seen multiple explicit descriptions that are like "The template is X, but the monster can have/lack *these* assorted abilities as the DM sees fit."

I haven't played 5e so I don't know how it works in operation, but a lot of it seems down to the quality of the DM (or willingness of DM to fill in the blanks anyway).

I've always been into D&D more for the lore anyway and there's really no reason you can't adapt just about anything from any rulebook into a different set of rules anyway.

It's generally a lot easier to find people via the internet to do voice campaigns. Roll20 has its flaws but it does provide a relatively stable platform for campaigns.

Like I said, friends, not randos.
I'd be doing the voice-stuff with my mates if their lives didn't also make that as annoying to plan as the stuff we do when meeting up.
Plus online can't simulate the actual meeting up part.

Same here... my best friend hates guts any kind of RPG game, and the closest group of friends who does practice them is "a few" cities away from me.

Oh well... at least there's a lot of good D&D games on youtube to watch. They've become one of my favorite things to put on the background while I draw.
