And as quickly as I vanished, so do I reappear. Was a good week. 60 hours of work over 7 days, albeit in a poorly maintained/cleaned beach house, lots of friendly people, decent food, and lots of vodka every night. Plus made some good money on it, with more to come.

Sure wasn't a vacation, but getting out of your routine really is good for the soul.

I just read through their story. They killed all the humans and had their memories wiped so they can feel guilty about it, right? That's how I understood the story. Were they around during A and B stories? I simply don't recall them before 2B dies.

Also I saw "them" clearly at the end of B ending with 2B and 9S in the pit. But I also saw a figure standing next to the mecha in the hangar as they were leaving before the station blew up. Right so the thing about the twins is that they are a direct reference to the original Nier, which I have never played. But more or less it goes like this.

Humanity was, for whatever reason (I think because of genetic alteration) dying. It got so bad that humans were more or less preserved in some form, to eventually be moved to new bodies, called gestalts. A gestalt was a sort of Bio-android. But they kept becoming self aware on their own, and, for whatever reason, humans could not be moved to them.

All this was headed up by a SERIES of twin androids called Devola and Popola units. In each remaining bastion of civilization, a set of these units existed. However, a pair of them in the original game went insane (?its hard to say with Yoko Taro?) and more or less caused the destruction of the Gestalt Program, resulting in the death of humanity.

As a result the remaining Twin units, regardless of their lack of involvement, ( the ones we see in Automata actually did their best to record as much of humanity as possible in some vain hope of preservation) were all treated as culpable. They were reprogrammed to feel unending guilt. I think they remember most of what happened, but not every detail. The memory wipe doesn't make sense to me, as they seem to remember everything. Maybe after 8,000 years(!!!) they reconstructed their memories.

And yes they are around in A/B story, but just hidden in the background of the camp. You cant interact with them. I imagine anyone who played the original Nier would have lost their shit over seeing them.

Oh you better believe i saw "Them". They also show up during the fight with Adam and Eve. You'll find out what they are soon enough. You are VERY close to the end. Remember: Ending [E].

Regarding Pascal, well, first time around, after some hard thinking, I killed him. I felt good about that choice, or at least as good as you can in that situation. Second time I did the memory wipe just to see the results. I wont spoil what happens, but lets just say it is not the better of the two choices...

But... Did you know there is a third option? If you leave, and do neither, you get what could arguably the best, or arguably the worst, outcome.

Ugh, I just spent 11.5 hours writing exactly 60 seconds of music. Fully orchestrated, synthed out, pretty much mixed and somewhat mastered.

I want to fish more, but I don't know what time I have left. The traveling salesman thing wrote that I can find some rare ones in the subterranean lake, but I'm not sure i found it yet. Also I remember it giving me a key to the elevator in the mall, but every time I go to check it out, even as 9S, I can't get it. I wonder if I missed the opportunity for that.

Okay, so there were lots of twin series androids made, and these two didn't necessarily lead to the destruction of the human race. Okay, I wonder how I got that mixed up. Anyway, off to explore and continue.

I'm not really sure why you cant go down the elevator in the mall. I think you may need to do that in playthrough A/B, because 9S gets a unique scene if you do that in playthrough C.

The underground lake area is in a different spot though. It's a hidden area you can get to from one of the large, broken pipes in the city sink hole... It's... interesting, but also creepy and hard, and leads to a hidden boss fight that is UNBEARABLY hard. The boss is meant to be done at level 99. Great music though.

I saved a spot right before I go into the tower, so I might be able to do all that again. Then again I opened up the option to play chapters, which means I can finish up old quests. I guess this means I can play the last chapter and get ending D?

Huh, the only pipe I ever made it into was the one going to the flooded city.

I see who the two figures are now, I guess they were the twins that destroyed the Gestalt programs.

This is amazing. I guess I'll continue to get ending D and see where I go from there.

According to the radio over the last week, there's multiple versions in human trials right now. Though they may have grossly misinterpreted the reality, as summaries of complicated systems tend to. But if a functional vaccine can be rolled out in the next few months for the high-risk among us, that's about the best outcome we have.

Oh that's true, but it does not indicate how quickly we will get the vaccine. From what I gathered one of the main issues was that many people who got sick did not build antibodies to be protected against future infections, which is apparently common with coronaviruses (and why there is no SARS vaccine).

So in order to release an efficient vaccine labs have to monitor not only if their vaccine creates an immune response, but also if after a couple of weeks/months the vaccinated people still have antibodies in their system and how much - this way, if it ends up being a vaccine you need to take several times, we will know how much time needs to pass between injections.

And while it is urgent to get that vaccine, releasing an half-assed one would be a disaster, considering how many people are wary of vaccines already despite those we have now being as safe as one can be.

No that's not quite right, but by getting ending C, you should have gotten a new information entry that explains, in pretty good detail, exactly what those two figures are. They have nothing to do with Devola and Popola. They are the visual manifestation of the machine network.

Oh and this is important. I highly recommend you do EVERYTHING you want to do before ending E.

And yes I have to agree. Nier Automata is fucking AMAZING. Its so good, I'm going to play the mobile game Yoko Taro just released, Nier Re-Incarnation, and I HATE mobile gaming.

I jump over that small ravine all the time, I'll go hard save then check it out. Then read up on the all the new archives.
