The RTX 3080ti comes out tomorrow. I have no idea where to get it. Its nearly as good as the RTX 3090, but costs $1200 (Not a reasonable added cost over the 3080). Seems like all the Best Buys in the country only got a few thousand, total, so I imagine scalpers are gonna clear the stock out in minutes, and mine doesn't have any. There's a MicroCenter nearby, but I suspect it's being camped out.

The kicker here is that the 3080 is still in extreme demand, yet they shift production to the 3080ti (and 3070ti), which cannibalizes the already limited production, for a card not worth the money. Good times.

So my niece is high functioning autistic (the stupidly smart but socially weird type of autism) but has some issues with getting school work done so there is a pretty strict "little or no screen time" rule for her. But she *loves* video games. So my sister came up with the idea of sending her to me once a week so we could play games at my place. This way she gets to play but there is a hard boundary as the games are all at my house.

Today was the first session of this. We did multiplayer Divinity Original Sin and I think it turned out pretty well. I get to corrupt the youth and play RPGs at the same time!

Standard 3080's are going at EUR 1.980,00 at online shops (and I mean respectable ones, like Alternate, one of the biggest IT component sellers in Germany), which is almost as much for how much I got my 3090 in December. ^^ While still a very significant investment (basically the most expensive thing I ever bought, before getting my two 38'' ultra-wides last month), I can currently say that I made the correct decision, at least in terms of timing.

Vol get yourself signed up to this, reportedly been the best way for a quite a few people to get cards, basically you get 24 hour pre-access to EVGA products and that includes the cards

as someone who is autistic, socially weird myself and didn't have a partner to corrupt me to play video games, I will like to say thank you and also say your niece is lucky girl and it makes me happy that at least some autistic kids have an easier time growing up then when I did (then again I didn't know I was autistic until I was in my 30's).

Finding out her daughter had it made her wonder if she did too and it turns out she did. I've half considered getting tested myself because I also do a lot of the same things as them and there's a pretty strong genetic component. However, I don't know what that information would get me at this point other than just knowing.

you would probably not get much out of it since you are an adult and can function and work so if you have it it's pretty mild compared to like say someone like me who can't even work and well if I get stressed enough I'll throw up (can't even take medicine my gag reflex is that bad) and I have a very special diet I keep to (needless to say I could have really benefitted from an earlier diagnose to help me deal with a lot of the issues I suffer from now, now it's basically to late).

however should you ever have a kid of your own, I would suggest have them tested when they reach a certain age since it does run in your family and autism is a spectrum and can range from very bad to very mild, that way you can prepare and find out how to best for them function in society and social situations or in the worst case scenario make sure they are put in a place where they can be looked after once you can't take care of them or aren't around anymore.

As cool as the WH3 videos are, I've battered myself against the Legendary wall, and I need _numbers_, dammit. Can I even field Khornate Berserkers? Are the wolves useful beyond tier 1 rout chasers? Do the Bloodthirsters get fucked to death by bad animations?!

Yeah, there are underlying problems, at least on Legendary difficulty, which for example Legendoftotalwar talks about constantly. Melee infantry and cavalry are trash compared to ranged units, etc. Since I play on Normal/Normal, I don't have those problems, but they are there. Let's hope the developers take them into account for the third part, because it's really sad that some of those great units, like the bear cavalry, will probably be trash tier at the higher difficulty levels.

I think they'll go through all the factions. The game is still pretty far away (no release date is set, beyond "2021") but it seems to me that they started the hype train so early with constant mini-trailers, because they still have so much material to go through. Three Chaos factions and Cathay to introduce, the DLC race and probably a few trailers on the actual campaign mechanics.

In my experience, infantry's main purpose is to hold a line just long enough for anything else to do the actual killing, other than in extreme disparities (tier 1 vs tier 5). The exceptions I've played with are Wardancers and Chosen. Chosen, as Archaon, were able to justify their cost in gold in the late game. Technically Shaggoth spam would be more optimal, but they can't take walls.

Granted, in the very end of campaign, even my full gold chevron, Archaon buffed, badass Chosen were still starting to get mauled in the scrum more often, but they held to the last. Wardancers fulfilled the same function, albeit not quite as good, and requiring forest cover and not being shot.

The uselessness of cav, outside of 1-2 units for sniping artillery, has been rough. Don't even bother to build the stables in my military cities most of the time.

Cathay will probably be last, given the freakout going about 3 Kingdoms right now, heh.

Outside of Bretonnia, I think I haven't gone cav heavy in TW:WH2. Works surprisingly well in Three Kingdoms, but my last two campaigns there were Ma Teng and Sun Ce, so no big surprise.

Whelp a pipe in my attic is leaking. Got home and noticed a stream of water coming down one wall and a picture that was wet in a frame underneath it. I went up there and more or less deduced location it must be under insulation by pacing off distance from the chimney and pulled the insulation back and sure enough.

The pipe was like a solid hunk of rust with a freaking rusted out cooking pan placed under it! So in other words, this has been a slow leak since forever and the jokers that sold us the house knew this and just put this freaking pan there. And somehow our doofus of an inspector just failed to notice this or else thought it wasn't worth mentioning that there was a leaking pipe in the attic! "Oh there's a pan under it so it will be fine." It must have just been on the verge of catastrophic failure and thus just now started *really* dripping enough to be acutely noticeable. I bet if I didn't notice it when I did withing a few hours or days the pipe would have just ruptured. Clearly its been dripping long enough that the stupid pan was rusted through on the bottom. The spot the water was coming down is sort of behind this picture and it had to get the picture wet before I really noticed it.

This is almost certainly the pipe that froze during the winter storm and no shit it froze because it was covered in water from a leak! I'm amazed it didn't burst then.

And this conveniently happens on a Friday night so all the plumbers are closed until Monday. I have a big camping water cooler I filled up with water and then shut off the main water to the house. Luckily there is a shower at the place I work.

Looks like it's gonna be a fun weekend.

Even in my Bret campaign, still couldn't figure out how to make use of cav. Pegasus were great for sniping, especially on siege attacks against undead, but they were _fragile_. Shock cav didn't shock hard enough, and couldn't stand in any melee beyond tier 1 chaff. The normal cav had nothing to offer, until the highest tiers, when they'd at least stick in a fight to the end. But the micro needed to use them all effectively was super high.

The Blood Knights were a good one, really. Tough, anti-large, and able to be _healed with models resurrecting_.

Yeah, I'd been doing psuedo-checkerboards as a natural strategic development, then I saw Legend do it properly and it all clicked. So long as the first rank can hold and the second rank can actually kill shit. If the Chaos factions work like how I think they will, the dwarves will steamroll over Slaneesh and Tzeentch, then Nurgle and Khorne will be able to outlast or outdamage them.

Usually just some staining, replace a tape joint, stain kill, bada-bing, bada-boom. But if they don't notice, then the fun begins.

Not in a way that's worth the trouble of tracking them down. The couple we bought it from were in the middle of some kind of sloppy divorce so they aren't even in the same location and one probably now has a different name.

It looks like damage is mostly cosmetic. I'm still waiting on everything to completely dry before I go back up tomorrow and assess damage. Luckily the pipe was dripping right over the spot where the wall is and there is a small crack directly under the pipe where two pieces of particle board meet. This means the water had a natural place to go and it didn't just pool there until it saturated all the boards and sheetrock. It seems like it squeezed through the crack and then mostly ran down the exterior of the wall instead of seeping into the wall itself. There is some old shitty wood paneling on the wall that we just painted over rather than bothering to remove. The paint is puckered and one of the slats of the wood paneling is bowing as it dries. I can just barely stick my pinky finger up under the bowed part and the particle board behind it seems dry. Other than the pipe itself, it looks like the worst will be replacing a couple of these slats on the wall, repainting, and maybe replacing some particle board in the attic.

I know 0 about plumbing but even that looks like it might not be too bad. The rusted out bit is a smaller piece that connects two copper pipes so it doesn't look like they will have to tear out a bunch of walls or whatever to get to it.

Persona 4: First attempt at the vidya dungeon boss, he hits harder than Yukiko can heal, dip out to go get the quest items from the previous dungeon, and some levels. Then, reclimb the vidya dungeon. Gain several levels from Golden Hands, some lucky card drops (Got the card for Megido, teach it to Izanagi, then hit 2 skill up cards in a row to take it to "severe Almighty damage").

Get back near the top. Pack with 3 different enemies comes up, all with a different elemental weakness. Using _3_ Personas on point right now. Izanagi has 75 Endurance, he can take a hit. Ose has physical resistance and the skill to resist it further. Black Frost has none, but great magic abilites (frost/fire + amps/breaks). Blast the first enemy with lightning, swap to Black Frost, pop the second with ice, Yukiko's follow-up pops, pack is down, all-out attack.

One enemy left alive, on a sliver. Almighty Hand. It promptly gets back up, outspeeding everyone else in the party, and drops a God Hand on Yu.

So that was nice. Normally I stop to save midway through a dungeon, but hey, what're the odds?
