Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
So, like save 5 days worth of back ups? Monday's work, Tuesday's work, etc as separate files? Then cycle through so I always have three or four days of backups saved?
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Depends on what you're doing and how vital it is. For my most important files, I keep a copy across 3 hard drives, on a thumb drive, and in a password locked archive on my Gmail account. But I don't have to update them often. But if you're working on the same files every day, and constantly saving, I'd have multiple days worth of backups, and then on each day, have 6 or so rolling backups.
Though if you want max safety, create a new save every single time you do one. Your daily folder will be huge, but you'll have every iteration of your files possible.

Maybe I lucked out that this project is just on a notation file, like a word doc for music, and not a sequence involving video, audio and tons of animation. That kind of project I would save across multiple mediums. I'll make some changes in my routine.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
So there's a "leak" for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite regarding its character roster out on the interwebs. The leak says its only a partial list, not the whole thing. No idea if this leak is accurate or bullshit, but here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Guys, quick question. High pitched metallic sounding vibration coming from the computer tower. Like if you had a metal vibrator lightly tap the side of a tower. Occurs for a few seconds then disappears for a while. Is that a bad thing or a terrible thing. New computer, only a year and a half old.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Why would you know what a metal vibrator sounds like?
But more seriously, does it sound like a fan needing lubricant? If not, do you have the old platter hard drives? Because it could be one about to die.

I couldn't think of a name of a small rotary device. I had a lego set from ages ago that had a small motor and when you turned it on it spun so fast if I attached a clip thing the motor would gyrate like crazy. If you put it against metal it would...Anyway, nothing should be old, everything I bought new two Novembers ago. Have one standard HD and one SDD installed.

The age of your equipment doesn't matter, people receive bricked parts all the time. HDs are even more prone to fail, since they have moving parts. Back up your important files ASAP.

UGH!!!!!

It is unreasonably difficult to find a good room fan on Amazon. I'm now at the point of looking up NJ's average humidity in spring/summer to see if this discounted fan/swamp cooler would function in our climate.

Or...now this is a crazy thought...go to Target and get one.

That does not sound good, normally when I hear that kinda sound I associate it with my HDD. You may want to try and isolate what is making that sound, hopefully it is not your HDD.
As for best saving methods, versioning. After any major change to what ever file you are working on, save it under a new version. You could also keep a secondary redundant location for them, either cloud storage if possible or on an external hard drive.

I was buying a 4 pound bucket of lard and some l-lysine, so I figured I might as well get the new fan too, since they were offering free 1 day shipping for Prime members with an order over $35.
It seems the swamp cooler cooling effect _will_ work in NJ, but only if the internal humidity is roughly below 70%. In summer/spring, it gets past that, but I only need this thing to work in the temperature range between needing the windows open and being too hot to not have the house AC running.

Move to Minnesota.
Guarantee you'll need both the fan and a space heater in one week. We just had a late night snow last night. In late April.

I've been looking at the midwest, because good God do I want to move out on my own again and rent's cheapest there, but need a good job to make it worth it.

There's plenty. Just depends on what you want and if you have a CDL.

I need a desk job, programmer, designer, something where I can be the alpha nerd, flex on them, draw a fat paycheck, then go work my body for leisure, ya dig?

Check out Minneapolis, then. Lotta desk jobs for your lazy ass.

I'm actively looking. That or starting my own shit. Dunno. Contractor work is good enough for now, but it ain't making enough to get where I need to be, and my body's piling up too much pain to do it forever.

Hope you got that degree.
And a polar plunge will fix those aches and pains real quick.
Quality of life here is great, jobs are plentiful, and there's woods everywhere. Just...watch out for wolves and cougars.
They've been finding jogger parts in Minneapolis parks, and it's not a crazy person doing it.

Shadman's site's suspended. Probably not the first time, or the last. Then I read an article crowing about how an e-sports guy's career was ended because he accidentally started streaming on twitch, and they caught him yelling a racial slur during a match. Facebook is working on some grand plans to centralize most internet traffic through their site. Every corporation mines our data relentlessly and passes it around. Governments have backdoors and moles in every corner. The nerds and weirdos who made it interesting and fun are getting older/dying. Automated moderation and squelching of 'bad thought' is rising at every major hub. Content and culture is getting consolidated and homogenized.
The internet is being tamed, slowly but surely. The digital wild west becomes a Californian, family-friendly suburb, on a long enough timescale. It makes me a little wistful to see the big wheels in motion.
Edit: I'm listing Shad as symbolic of the greater point I'm making, because it's a recent example. I don't keep up with him or the drama around him.

I think it's been like this ever since making money through adding advertising to videos became a thing. While I think it's sometimes for the better that people are motivated to come up with better ways to create humor and/or intelligent conversations other than flinging the lowest form of it around and hope it sticks, it shouldn't be used to make people fear expressing themselves because some company might have different viewpoints and pull their support at the first word that might be controversial or not family-friendly.
Then again, parts of this is inevitable when corporations are getting bigger than some countries and have influence in everyday activities.
Also, aren't there like six major corporations that run pretty much all media through smaller companies? I think I've read that somewhere.

The internet is entirely made of private property, which is kind of the weird thing. It'll change and morph, but I don't think it'll ever quite civilize. There's simply no way for that to happen, especially as it becomes easier to put telecom hubs in places with laxer laws.

Go figure. Earn 3 Uprising boxes, the Widow skin I paid for is in the second one. Whoops. Then 2 legendaries in the 3rd.
@SWM: I have actually recently found a nerd interest website that's written by a man far smarter than me, and full of interesting, largely positive, or intellectually honest, criticism of media, like ME3. It's so damn refreshing. I want more like that, less like reddit, but I'm sadly not a trillionaire who could make it happen.
But yeah, ads on a serious level, not just pop ups or banners for whatever, really lined up with the flood. Because then you introduce money with strings, and that means the end of free expression. And a stampede of people who need the lure of cash to be creative, who then drown out the previous crowd. I should write a book about how damn perceptive and wise I am about this, I'll pose for the cover in a turtleneck with a contemplative expression.
Yeah, it's something around 90% of all media outlets, big and small, are owned by 6 corporations. Spoilers: Their interests tend to line up pretty much the same, so stuff that falls outside it gets _______.
@Lance: Civilized in the same way that gay culture was. It grew as an isolated, rejected subculture, became a unique thing of its own, very bohemian and libertine (Until HIV anyway). But once that ended, and it big companies knew it was safe to sell it, they defanged the scary parts, packaged up the rest, and now we have Tumblr. I know these things are related because in the lieu of actual facts, my assumptions must be.

Well, at least it isn't a topic that can be summed up on one and a half page, but the assignment require at least ten. I guess it teaches you how to be the master of bullshittery and how to really stretch things out, but come on.

It does help that I'm actually pretty good at the science thing. I'm no engineer, but I make it work.
I'm better with theory application (Let's see how accurate this cleaning rod is fired from an M4 with a blank! Hold my beer) than I am with research methods and statistics. But I'm making this work.
Veterans and the Criminal Justice System is a pretty broad topic, so I can swing this science dick all over the place. The good, the bad, and the ugly, all rolled into a pretty good paper.
I'm having a friend read it as I go along, and she says it's pretty good. Then again she's an English Major. If there's a nit she'll pick it.

Bought Bayonetta on Steam. Haven't played much, but I smirk every time I kill a boss by summoning a t-rex made out of hair to eat it up. Bought Neir: Automata at the same time, but I can only handle so much Platinum.

One thing that I had problem with in Metal Gear Rising is also showing up in Bayonetta. The fact that I have to stop attacking in order to dodge. I have Smash Bros seared into my brain, so that's a tall order.

Bunch of very predictable character reveals. But definately not complaining. I am curious to see who else is gonna join the fun now that we got most of the obvious folks confirmed for the roster.
