Looks alright. But there's definately something missing. Lacks the spark the delToro version had, and honestly just has an extra feeling of... "safe and marketeable". Could still be fun, but I'll be forever bitter we didn't get the damn third movie.
Also, no Abe and no Liz Sheman, and my interestest is already much lowered. I mean, I know Abe at least is supposed to be in the movie, but it seems very obvious he doesn't have much of a role in the film already.

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
I have mixed feelings about this new Hellboy, but then I look at Aladdin and I'm suddenly thankful about how it could have been worse. It may just be the trailer, because I want to believe it could be better than what they showed us. Mike Mignola himself is one of the writers, and I don't see much of his mark here. Then again, it also has three other writers, and that's always a good thing, right?
I will say the creatures we see in the film do look really neat, the sort of things that would look natural in the source material or a Del Toro film.

Trades men, it did happen from time to time where the east and west did trade (even in the very old days), think of the old silver road and people like Marco Polo.
Seeing one Asian guy isn't that history breaking, it's a lot more possible then the Beauty and the Beast live action movie where a bunch of Africans people live in small village and no one cares in France during the time period it take place.

Fair enough. Just "caught me by surprise", so to speak. Kind of a silly remark now that I've slept over it, really.

That actually looks like it might be fun, thank goodness. I've enjoyed all the MiB movies to some degree (tho like many I agree they should have not brought K back for the second one) and this looks more of the same kind of funny weird stuff, just with two new main characters.

Good lord! How the hell Disney can fuck things up this badly? Jafar looks ridiculous and whoever this guy is need to be doing TOP notch acting recover from that ridiculous look.
But Will Smith's genie? Who the hell came up with this idea? As this is Disney, it can't be because of money that genie ain't Blue. So, it is because Will Smith ego and that he needs to show normal or did Disney thought they can't make genie as realistic digital character with just the voice of Will Smith? Sure, this is just first look of this new Genie, but damn it ain't promising. At least if this picture would've been taken with Genie and Aladdin walking on market full of people, you could understand if Genie would disguise himself as more human looking. But no.
I'm calling it now. Based on this picture (which seems to be some time after Aladdin escaped the cave with the lamp and is first introduced to Genie), we will have a one scene with Will Smith taking various forms/looks, until he sets for this totally human look, because it's more relatable for Aladdin.

Hah, Thor joke at the end. I also expect lot more Thor jokes too, considering we got both Thor and Valkyrie in main roles.
That said, this actually looked surprisingly cool. Maybe a little too gung ho with all the weapons, but okay.

People on social media are having a fiel day with the Jafar casting. "Why the hell would Jasmine NOT fall for this guy?! He's waaay hotter than Aladdin, and he doesn't look evil and creepy at all!"

Good call. I'm gonna guess he does have a few scenes where he's blue, just because people would be really mad if he didn't, but most of the time he's gonna be wearing the "human disguise" and just look like Will Smith in a silly arabian costume.

Can I just have some fun in movies for a bit please?

Yeah I am glad they didn't get Will Smith in for this one. Would be too cheesy, even for this franchise.
I do like the "international" motif. Seems to be going along the same lines as Kingsman.

Um, isn't Aladdin supposed to be like...16?
And Jasmine like 16?
And Jafar like 50? And like, disgusting?
And isn't Genie supposed to be... not Will Smith?
Honestly, I'm sure this with be like the other live action remakes of classic Disney Movies. "Fine." neither good nor bad. They will just exist in a bubble of mediocrity until they fade from memory. Remember live action Sleeping Beauty (Malefecent)? Remember live action Cinderella? Remember remember live action Beauty in the Beast (the one that just fucking came out)?
Because I'm willing to be you forgot about them, just like you will forget about Aladdin 6 months after it releases.

I still remember Maleficent, but only because the writing and close to all the characters in that movie were terrible.

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
I've only seen Maleficent, because it sounded like the one that was trying the least to just be a copycat of the original cartoon. And even that was just... okay. Ish.
I've actively avoided to see all the others, especially Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, since thei're based on two of my favorite Disney cartoons. Aladdin and Lionk King being other two I'm very very fond of, I'll avoid just as fiercely to see.
Luckly my absolute favorite Disney feature lenght 'toon is Fantasia, which hopefully cannot be turned into a live action movie (besides that shitfuckery of the Nic Cage movie allegedly based on the Sorceror's Apprentiece bit).

It was possible actually. BATB takes place at the end of the XVIIIth century, where there were black people in France already, and not only as slaves or circus freaks. Like the General Dumas, father of Alexandre, the author of the Three Musketeers, who actually led troops during the Revolution Era.

Definitely DO NOT see their live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, that was garbage.
I did really enjoy their recent Jungle Book so I would recommend giving it a watch one day.
I thought Maleficent was trash.
Never saw the live-action Cinderella so I can't comment on its quality.

Jungle Book is probably the best of the live action so far.
I think Nostalgia Critic Old vs New on the Cinderella movies pretty sums up that they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Aladdin was actually 18 and Jasmine was 15 in origial animated movie. Disney at its best back then.
As for how memorable these movies are, I do remember them all...though not so much because of these movies, but things around them. Things like Box office numbers, different youtubers making content based on them (honest trailers, cinema sins, heshe) and so on. But mostly I know/remember these movies simply because of the original animated movies. Every time I heard the names of these movies, my mind goes to orignal animated movies first.
That said, we have to remember that these live action version are for newer generation. Just like current children and future generation have little idea what a true animated movie means as they are all used to watch these computer animated movies or now these live-action ones.

well it's possible it's also for the people who still considered animated movies to be for children only, you know the same kind of people who think video games are for kids only.

I know those types. Though that kind of view is totally wrong as pretty much all well made animated movies has material in them, which ain't something that children will notice, but adults will. Especially old Disney movies had "hidden" content like these...from racism to politics to lots of dark truths of life.
Hell, lots of children movies actually have content, which context is completely inappropriate for children.

I always think of Don Bluth's An American Tail and the Land Before Time for "adult" kids movies, those two movies can really be though to sit through at times even as an adult.
Not to mention there are adult animated movies like Watership down and Plaque Dogs, just to name two, because there are more.
