Last Crusade ended with Indy riding off into the sunset after one last great adventure, with his most trusted friends and family by his side, and having re-connected with his father. How do you top that? Crystal Skull certainly didn't to say the least. I'll go in with an open mind, but I'm skeptical. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

"Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 will no longer be moving forward at DC Studios. Jenkins recently submitted her treatment, co-written with Geoff Johns, and that Gunn and Safran, as well as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, broke the news to the filmmaker, telling her the project — as it stood — did not fit in with the new (but still unfolding) plans. Henry Cavill has filmed a cameo as Superman for ‘THE FLASH’. However, there is a debate whether or not to keep the cameo if its inclusion may promise a future for Henry Cavill’s Superman, something that the studio may not end up doing. "Westworld has been canceled after four seasons and will be pulled off from HBO Max. No date on when the show will be pulled off from the streaming service was given. Warner Bros. Discovery has been cutting down on spending since it set out to find $3.5 billion in cost-saving synergies over the next three years post-April merger. However, even on the heels of a rough third-quarter earnings report, CEO David Zaslav has continued to underline the importance of healthy content spend, and HBO still has multiple big-budget dramas, including House of the Dragon, Euphoria and the upcoming The Last of Us live-action adaptation. The removal of shows from HBO Max means Warner Bros. Discovery is able to save money in residuals paid to cast and crews of productions, on top of the money saved by not continuing with the shows at all.
‘Raised by Wolves’, ‘Head of the Class’, ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’, ‘FBOY Island’, ‘Legendary’ and ‘Finding Magic Mike’ are all being removed from HBO Max. "Prime Video has announced that it will officially order a God of War live-action series, in co-production with Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions. Amazon’s Prime Video service says that the live-action series will be an adaptation of the Santa Monica Studios sequel series, following Kratos in the Norse realm of Midgard following his quest for vengeance in ancient Greece. Like in the game, the series will follow Kratos as he journeys with his son to the highest peak as a final request from his late wife. It was reported earlier this year that Prime Video was in talks with PlayStation on a potential live-action series, but today's direct-to-order announcement confirms Prime Video is serious about the adaptation. The Wheel of Time’s Rafe Judkins will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who’s worked on Iron Man and Children of Men, have boarded the series as writers and executive producers. Cory Barlog will also serve as executive producer."

"DC Studios co-head James Gunn has announced he is writing a new feature film about Superman. The project will focus on the hero in his younger days, which means Henry Cavill will not return as the hero.

Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year.
Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill. But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.

"Hideo Kojima’s Kojima Productions has partnered with Barbarian EP Alex Lebovici’s Hammerstone Studios to develop and produce a film adaptation of Death Stranding. The film being fully financed by Hammerstone will be produced by Kojima and Lebovici via their respective banners, with Kojima Productions US and Allan Ungar serving as exec producers. The plot for the project, marking Kojima Productions’ first-ever feature adaptation, is being kept under wraps, but it will introduce new elements and characters within the Death Stranding universe. So, I'm back from Avatar 2: The Way of Water (NO, WE ARE NOT COPYING AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER, WE AIN'T!).

I must say, it's a very solid movie. The visuals are spectacular, as can be expected with the incredible budget they got, the 3D is well used (although, as usual, I tuned it out after a while) and the story is much better than the first movie. It's still a pretty simple story, but it is well executed and we are now beyond the Dances with Wolves intro to the world of Pandora. The character work was also well done and I felt the appropiate emotions at the emotional beats. Humanity doesn't come off any good in this movie, however. The humans here are in full conquistador-mode and probably think ethic concerns are something one can eat. Unless they are humans who have gone full native, but aside from one character they are firmly side characters.

The action also was well done, so I can recommend the movie for a theater watch. I think it would get my second place as far as movies for 2022 go, after Top Gun: Maverick and just before The Batman.
