So someone (probably some Islamic goatfucker, because the MO looks really similar to the other times) drove a truck into a crowd of people in central Stockholm a couple of hours back. At least three dead so far.
Norway is arming up around airports, theaters in Stockholm are shutting down this evening and pretty much any kind of public transportation is also shut down.
I'm more worried about my mom, since she stopped working about an hour ago and she doesn't have a car.

Well, the police don't want to release any numbers regarding wounded or dead yet, since there's a lot of conflicting information. They did however say that this is not surprising and I agree. I always thought it was a matter of when. The truck was stolen seconds before the attack. Kinda hard to protect against that.
The Eiffel Tower is going dark this evening to honor the victims too.

Its better than an apartment. It just seems like everything went wrong at once.
I wish I had the money to have all the old guts removed and replaced with newer, better hardware, but its just not in the cards right now.
It'll be fixable. Just gotta squirrel enough money away. Maybe learn to do some yourself.
The outlet will require a new one and maybe some wire stripping to remove the bad section. That's easy enough.
Should go rent a plumbers snake, and clear out the plumbing. Maybe check the septic tank if you have one.
Water heater requires a new one. That should be a last priority, the one you save up for. You can get an electric one at Lowes for 600 bucks, installation will be extra, but that's complicated enough.
Don't lose patience, just establish a plan if you haven't already, and execute it.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Water heater is already replaced & plumbing fixed. Those are usually good for 10 years, which is frankly longer than I really intend to stay here.
We keep an emergency fund (which is like personal finance 101) so it's obnoxious but covered. Didn't opt for electric because A) natural gas is cheaper than electricity down here and B) they are slower to heat water.
The house was built in 1969 and the big ticket item (the roof) was replaced before we moved in and it getting fixed was a condition of us buying at all. It's actually in overall good repairs. It's just a 50 year old house in a humid climate. Stuff's gonna wear out and have to be replaced, especially wires and appliances.

Well the way Theo was going on it sounded like it was still an ongoing issue. Good on ya for doing the thing.

Could always come up for CONVergence in July.
Tickets are 50 bucks until May, then it's 100. Airfare is cheap to MN and...You get to see a mishmash of fandoms. Constant party.

It looks so much like a damn MOBA. The only two things that qualifies it as a Dawn of War game are the base building (which DoWII didn't have and didn't need, so that's actually half a point) and the 40k paint coat. Siiiiiiiiiiigh...

or you could just play regular multiplayer, that isnt the only mode.

Except it IS. It's already been confirmed. Other modes MIGHT arrive later on. Might. But that is the only multiplayer mode the game is being released with. There will be some variations, like PvP with no co-op, or co-op vs AI, but that's about it.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Well if they are smart they will release regular annihilation if not people will definitely demand it.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
People have been demanding it already alot. As well as most of the other features they cut out of the game, like a cover system that isn't just magic energy bubbles, special melee kills and even only the possibility of zooming in and out of the battlefield as they pleases. Apparently none of that is happening because Relic was too busy making the gameplay more "modern, fluid and dynamic". Aka, as per their own ammission, they were too busy listening to focus groups to collect fans' feedback.
So I think we should be worried about game modes as well. Not mentioning there's probably one or two extra completed factions (likely Chaos Marines and Necrons, given the plot thei're going for) that they're NOT showing and are NOT gonna be playable at launch. Meaning we'd have to pay for those separately.
Also, last but not least... games like ME:A, have troubled launches, but most of their problems are just bugged or rushed features that can get alot better overtime. All these changes made in DoWIII are completely deliberate, there is no "fixing it" unless the outcry becomes so massive that the devs won't have any choices but to re-add and re-adjust things from the ground up. Which I don't think will happen, since RTS games are always abit more "niche" than other genres, with a few obvious exceptions. So that's a fucking downer.

Hey, Vol. I'm pretty sure I'll endure your dental pain soon, because I suspect that I have to get my wisdom tooth removed as well. It's not the "Oh my god, please make it stop" kind of pain, but rather more the annoying kind of pain than anything. Like when you're not doing anything, it barely hurts at all, but the second you move something a little too much, it's like getting slapped in the face.
Edit: And I have to show up an hour early at work for some work-related education. WHAT A LOVELY DAY!

Man getting removed from a United Airlines flight.
As I understand it, no one would give up their seats even with the promise of $800 vouchers, so they turned to a "random" pick from a computer instead. This guy was unfortunate enough to be selected, but still wouldn't give up his seat, so they knocked him out and dragged him off of the plane. In one of the videos you can clearly see him bleeding from the corner of his mouth. There's also a video of him getting back on the plane, clearly distressed and disoriented or traumatized.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
So I finally hit my Phase 1 weight goal. I weighed myself this morning and beat my 163lb goal with 162.8. First time since early high school I've been this light. It took me 5 months of strictly dieting.
Phase 2 is to get to 153 with diet and cardio vascular work and hopefully in faster time then 2.5 months. I'm optimistic.
What I've taken away from all this is really how much I've kept myself from exploding as a young adult. Even at my heaviest in the 190's I would make my oatmeal, have a conservative lunch, eat plenty of vegetables for dinner, drink virtually no soda and tell myself I shouldn't gorge out too much. I should be at 240 with the amount of food that I WANT to eat and how often I COULD eat all day. It was tough, oh so very tough the past few months, but I'm on the path to be the healthiest I've ever been. Maybe in a couple months I'll actually grow some muscles. Maybe even get a tan. But it's nice to set a goal and to actually achieve it. I'll keep you all updated.

Isn't that how Rosa Park's story started? I wonder what's going to happen because of this.

So I have to get some jaw surgery done if I want my wisdom tooth removed and since it leans horizontally against the tooth next to it and the gap between them is gathering pieces of food, which causes swellings, I kinda want that.
Even if there's a tiny, tiny chance that I'll lose feeling in my jaw for about a year.
The only thing about this that makes me depressed is the price.

Jaw surgery is a pain. My mom had to get her jaw wired for a month or so, makes eating very difficult. Still going to go through with it?

Depends on the tooth. If it keeps happening (and it probably will), then I want it removed.
I've also had braces for over half my life, so I know how it feels to have your mouth wired and hurting when you eat.

Nah. At least, I didn't have one. Now that I think about it, it's more than half my life. I've had it since I was eleven.

Well boys and girls, it's almost time for CONvergence. In 2 and a half months I'll be doing the nerd thing. This year, though, I'm gonna actually make a costume, not just slap some military gear together and call it good.

This helmet will be the base for something special. Something that got me into gaming waaaay back in the day, before some of you were even born.
I cannot wait.

Honestly the most challenging part will be getting the body armor. I want it made out of metal, just to drive the point home. Finding someone capable of making it has proven to be a challenge.

I don't know how aluminum is to work with, thin enough sheets should be able to be molded and light enough to wear and inexpensive to buy.

That would be a bitch to wear and really fucking expensive to forge and look decent.
I mean even at a few millimetres thick you'd need to gather enough material for a full suit of armour, just o be on the safe side.
Judging by how the armour looks I think i'd be easier to look into plastic moulding/construction and then see if you can get a few metal pieces for the "core" plates.
I mean those pauldrons alone are a cosplayer's nightmare.
