Let me cut to the chase and get the news out of the way. The Last of Us Part II has a new release date of May 29, 2020.

I know. It was just about a month ago when we had our big blowout for the game, letting media play over two hours of it along with debuting our new story trailer and revealing the release date. The positive response we saw from our community was overwhelming. You can feel the energy among the team members. After working on something for so many years, it’s invigorating to get a glimpse of validation for all the hard work.

However, it was during the last few weeks, as we were closing out sections of the game, that we realized we simply didn’t have enough time to bring the entire game up to a level of polish we would call Naughty Dog quality. Anybody have any insights on ways to make a CPU run cooler that doesn't amount to "go spend a lot of money on liquid cooling."

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is murdering my CPU on heat and causing constant crashing. I've opened the thing up and cleaned out the fan and heat sink & maunally overridden fan speeds to run faster and it still keeps getting up to like 80+ C when I'm doing nothing but standing around. I do need to add more thermal compound, but nothing else (game or normal computer activity) is causing even moderate heating problems. I've tanked all graphical settings, running at dreadful fps, pretty much turned off all water, light, and shadow effects and it makes absolutely no difference in how much heat is generated.

POE 1 consistently only runs at around 50-60 C as do any number of other comparable games (miscellaneous modern isometric RPGs & strategy games) which should in no way be taxing on anything but a bargain bin Wal-Mart laptop.

After searching around online, it appears this game is consistently causing overheating problems even for people with much newer, better rigs than mine, which means the game is just optimized like ass.

For anybody who did manage to complete this game on some system that doesn't have a multi hundred dollar cooling system in it, how the heck did you manage it?

I got a paint project of my own going on.

I did a dumb dumb a few weeks back and managed to collide my car with a fire hydrant. There's a two foot gash in my front passenger door and my neighbor offered to fix it up. I shrugged and said, why the hell not. It's actually very familiar because it's the same process I'd do with building a model.

Pictures are in the wrong order, but he ground down the area around the scratch, took off the door insides, banged out the dent, used screws to pull out of the dent, ground it down more to make it smooth, puttied it up, sanded it down, puttied it up again, sanded it down, then taped it up and primed it.

Once I get the paint we'll sand it down, then paint the paint and then add the clear coat. Neat little process.

There's some screenshot of a supposed leaker on 4chan going around that's supposedly from back in June that lines up with later announcements, such as Vulpera and mechagnomes and such. Not idea if it's real or not, best to assume not, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were largely true. One of the alleged points they bring up is that Reaper is gay, Tracer's girlfriend dies, and she starts up a relationship with Widowmaker as the brainwashing "wears off." That does seem a bit too silly to be real, but hey. The EA misdirect is a powerful technique when you're fearing bad PR.

But also no one is gay in OW in China, and that's the market that matters, so it's canon. QED.

Ooooooh. Bit late in the series for character novels, eh? But I'll need to read this one.

GW loves doing things out of order. Case in point: making the Primarch character novels after the Horus Heresy series was already halfway over, or how after advancing the narrative forward 100 years after Cadia fell and the galaxy split in half for 8th Edition, only NOW are they actually fleshing out what happened in those 100 years. Which is fine in principle, except nothing status-quo shattering happens since when already know how things pan out and we have novels and codexes set after the 100 years that tell us so. No major character deaths, no giant leaps of plot advancement beyond more of the same, etc. So unless they're going for huge retcons already, it seems like something that should be lower on their priorities list. People are still eagerly waiting for all the Primarch and Daemon Primarch returning teases to pan out, for one thing.

In a sense, that's better than going a progressive storyline. Because you're doing a discrete chunk of time, you know exactly how it ends, then filling it in, you can't fuck it up. Whereas we can look at every gaming/movie franchise ever to see what happens when you make it up as you go.

It's very good.

People are far too quick to say that this is a 'Bethesda game'. It really isn't. It's in first person, but it is far far closer to a Bioware game.

It suffers from obsidian game syndrome near the end. Where you can tell they ran out of time, and tried in the last minute to tie everything together. I wonder what this game would have been like had Microsoft not bought them, and offered a last influx of money. I'm guessing a much less polished experience.

The party members are all cool... which is a shame, because they are extremely underutilized. Sometimes they comment on what you do, sometimes they are stoic, despite some SERIOUS shit being revealed. They really needed to give them more content.

Also romance options should have been a thing. Ellie is a delight and I wanted to romance her.

This game feels like an incredible start to a series. I hope to hell that Obsidian or Microsoft owns the rights and not 2K. There should absolutely be more Outer Worlds games. This time with Microsoft money behind them from the start of development.

I do remember something about Obsidian saying it's up to Microsoft if they are going to make a sequel, but they would love to should they get the chance so I think it's safe to say Obsidian owns the rights and since Microsoft owns Obsidian well it's safe to say that we'll see a sequel as long as the game sold well.
