I kinda like the new Nemesis. Much like the fucked up circular wrinkles on Mr. X's face, it implies Umbrella fucked up trying to make the face look "right," which is more grotesque than a cruder hack n' stitch job, as demonstrated in Bioshock.

It's nice having the heat back on. I can handle it being sub-50 indoors, but as I'm not constantly moving around, having my hands be cold despite 3 layers of shirts, 2 sweaters, and a bath robe was...frustrating. Plus the hassle of convincing myself to get out of the nice, warm comforts of bed when faced with a cold toilet seat and coffee that will be lukewarm before I sip it.

Though if need be, I'd have found a metal bucket, opened a window, and started a fire. Thankfully, that was not necessary!

Dunno if this applies to anybody in here, but if any of you are planning on utilizing Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness, seriously get on getting approved for that right now.

I've got 6 years off of 10 done and decided to finally get it all officially squared and have been fighting with the new servicer FedLoan since like September over stupid little errors they keep making that screw everything up, 7000 documents they keep having me submit, and so on. It's been an utter nightmare. It's square at the moment finally as of tonight but only after incessant badgering and handholding on my part.

If you wait until the end of 10 years to try to do it, you'll probably get stuck making half a year's worth of additional payments you wouldn't otherwise have had to make while you bludgeon through the bureaucracy (assuming you are even able to get it).

Ugh, I have being computer stupid.

So for the past month I've been trying to repair my host (slave) computer and this is what has happened so far;
1) computer won't boot past startup when asked to start Windows normally. It stops then reboots in a loop
2) using startup repair I cannot get the application to repair the system.
3) using system restore I can't get the system to restore to a previous point. (it states it's successful, but upon restarting it's back to looping)
4) checked for connections and if it would boot from 1 Ram disk. During that process I couldn't get computer to even power on for a month. Just barely got fans to run. Spent that time ordering replacement parts to find where the cause was. Finally got a new MB and connected everything and now the computer powers and goes into BIOS, where I was at the beginning.

It doesn't repair from the OS DVD, I've tried all the system restore options given to me. Would it be logical to clean install a new OS? I'm sure I tried to install before and got nowhere. That was over a month ago.

Found some sites that suggest things. Does anyone think I should try this?

A low hanging fruit thing to try:

Unplug all your usb devices and then boot it and see if it starts. My system has a bad usb port and if there's anything in that port at startup it will go into that fail to start Windows/reboot cycle you describe. I have to remove anything from that port at startup and then plug it back in once Windows works and it goes fine.

Do you have an SSD or an old school spinning disk drive?

Have you tried to actually boot from a recovery disc or drive and not just restore? Is it able to boot off the disc/recovery drive?

If you have a spinning disk drive and you are able to boot off the recovery media, your hard drive is probably bad. Depending on your BIOS/UEFI there's sometimes some diagnostics that you can run that might tell you if the hard drive is good as well.

Another sign it could be the hard drive is if you try a clean installation of the OS and it keeps failing. In that case, the drive isn't completely dead (so the computer doesn't just give you a "no hard drive detected" error at boot) but the machine is just unable to read/write off it to actually run anything.

The boot drive SSD can be read in BIOS. There's nothing attached to computer except a monitor and keyboard. I have to attach a DVD drive to run the installation disk, and I can pick either to boot from. I've tried to boot from the installation DVD, but it won't. I only get the options to install or repair and none of them result in getting to boot.

I get a report at the end of the DVD repair, but I'm unable to save it to a source. It'll give me the unsuccessful boots, repair attempts and then ask me to restart computer. I'll attempt a clean install of the OS when I get a new drive. If I had a damaged SSD would this be what one would experience?
