Only been to Florida once, must've been well over 100. Going from SC to FL, still said, "Wow it's hot" when we got out of the car. Went to some hotel right next to Universal, was a fun time! One of the fonder memories I have with my mother. Glad to hear your vacation went well too!

Speaking of Dragonball...

TFS has come to the painful decision to not do Buu Saga, and end their abridged series with Episode60. Personally I'm okay with it... their version of the Cell Saga really felt like a good conclusion, and the only things I've liked (not that I hated anything but, I have never strongly liked anything else) of the Buu Saga were Videl and the last bit of character development Vegeta had, and the TFS guys have been very clear about not wanting to phone things in.

Sad to hear, but understandable. Copyright struggles and creative burnout can really take their toll. And I get their desire to branch out and try new things and not just be the "DBZAbridged Guys". At least they got through the Cell Saga, and episode 60's conclusion and its epilogue was a great sendoff for the series to end on.

The general concept of the third season is to deliver users a fresh experience. While keeping what’s good as is, we will be adding new features and adjustments to give everyone a fresh new take.

One example is the “Z Assist Select.” Once this system is implemented, users will be able to select a character’s Assist Attack. Each character has three different Assist Attacks, and users will be able to choose from the three from the Character Select screen. We will also be implementing different Battle Adjustments, but our general goal is to create a situation where many different characters are used by different players. We are also planning to make adjustments that prevent one-sided games caused by specific powerful attacks and combinations, as well as adjustments that give users a chance to turn the tables, even if they only have one character left. We will be implementing a specific feature for this, so we hope players will give it a try and let us know their thoughts.

And nothing has been set in stone for the next topic, but during the second season of Dragon Ball FighterZ, we didn’t make any adjustments to the battle after the World Tour began. However, for the third season, we would like to consider making adjustments during the season if necessary. But instead of making small adjustments multiple times, we will most likely make one big adjustment at one timing instead. Again, this really depends on the situation during the third season, so nothing can be said right now, but I wanted to take this opportunity to share our thoughts and objectives.

Well I will say this. If they actually continue doing the DBZA Shortz, (which they claim they still absolutely plan to do) they'll probably be fine. Because I watched the two they made and they are REALLY fucking funny.

Looks like its time to watch the series again... I never actually got past the early 50's. I got so annoyed with waiting I said I wouldn't watch the show again till it was done.

I'm a little more bummed out than I thought I would be, but the Shortz are a definite salve.

Yeah, they claim they're not stopping with the shorts anytime soon, just that doing a full series in 3D would not be feasible. So there's that.

And I definately have to grab some compilations of the whole series for when I want to re-watch it, just in case the people at Funimation keep being the scumbags they've been lately, and decide to take try take it all down of youtube later on.

Frankly, DBZA is the main reason I still give a damn about Dragonball in any capacity, so I want to make sure I have a copy of it archived somewhere. It IS amusing how DB Super lines up oddly well with DBZA tho, with Goku being more and more of an irresponsible dofus, Vegeta being the one who actually gets some character development worth a damn and Freezer becoming a recurring villain rather than a one storyarc foe.

The only way Dragon Ball could have a satisfying ending is Goku finally going too far, his stupidity becoming too destructive and dangerous, and everyone else needing to team up to take him down.

I haven't watched the new series, since I'm at a point where I'd prefer more Dragonball than DBZ. Though I've had my fill of shonen "And now here's a neeeeeeeew tournament arc! Guess what...the hero will get a power up in it!" for a good long while. Though when I heard Jiren was legit too strong to lose, and even slapped down Goku's latest hair-color form, I watched a few episodes. Alas.

Oh man, I got to play the tabletop version first. I'm doing Kingmaker at the moment and it's a blast. Sure, we're using a 3rd-party system called Spheres of Power that utterly fucks up the balance, but still.

I started on DBZ, so I never got the nostalgia trip edsge to it and even I feel that eventually DBZ gets dull with it's fighting and power creeps.
That and DBZ/Super has kinda become just plain boring and formulaic.
Dragon Ball had more focus on actual martial arts and stuff, if what I have seen is to believed. Even when the powers came out it was always in support of the actual martial artistry.
As flashy and fun DBZ is, it does lose something in it's fighting styles.
It has pure power but less skill(?) on display.

I did also love the interaction Frieza got and the team-up at the end was great.
Plus Android 17 calling out the "why are we standing around during a power-up" thing was neat.
Vegeta's pride stuff was on par, and him feeling responsible for the other universe's Saiyans was nice to see. If only he cared about his own universe's ones to bother, I dunno, finding all the survivors, or at least his brother, that's also confirmed now.
But, yeah, Kale, Caulifla and Kefla was the best thing.

IIRC the manga stuff for Dragon Ball Super has an enemy that straight up just absorbs energy. So no Super Saiyan, not Beam blasts, etc.
It apparently brings a little bit of old school fighting into it rather than constant power ups and stuff.
But it's ages off from getting animated.

There's the fact that half of DBZ was editorially mandated had Toryama ended at the Freezer Saga like he wanted, right now we would just be talking about Dragonball as one thing and not DB series this or series that. I still like the Cell Saga too, despite how messy it was at least it was trying to bring things full circle with the return of the Red Ribbon Army first, and then with Cell being a patchwork of all the previous enemies. Buu is just so damn random, and bloated. And GT and Super DO have some fun concepts going, but the execution is/was incredibly lacking most of the times. Or at least that's my 2 cents about it.

It is perhaps not wise to look up google/Bing street views of places I used to live. It brings up a kind of anger I don't usually feel to think of how close my life was to being on a very different, better path. Looks like they tweaked the character design a little. A little .Thor is the most noticeable.

Also Kamalah being the only one based on the comics while everyone else is MCU-style makes her stick out like a sore thumb.

Although I must say Square Enix has been excellent when it comes to picking great yet unknown voice actors for the English dub. Like Fran's VA in FFXII - she never dubbed another VG character as far as I know. Most of the cast of FFXIV's DLC also counts - it was superlative in Shadowbringers yet most actors had little to no recognition before (even Emet-Selch's despite being one of the greatest FF antagonists ever).

However, the looks of the kid make me think I am going to hate him. He reminds me of fucking Hope from XIII, my most despised FF character ever.

Guess who watched 'Blade Runner' for the first time yesterday? Movie was made the year before I was born, but damn, I can see all the influence the style had in a lot of flicks in the past 38 years. It looked great. The pacing is from a different era though, or was it really kind of a slow movie? Thought Ford's character would have had more of a 'take down the bad guy' kind of an ending rather than the 'bad guy shutting down after running out of batteries' one we got. But eh, musically and visually it was really cool, plus I saw it on an old disk that wasn't visually enhanced (get the joke?) so seeing it crisp and clear is the next goal.
