Talons of the Emperor codex when?

Finished my first run of Shantae: SS. As I said, marked improvement over 1/2 Genie. Highly recommend it if you find Metroidvanias fun, or enjoy the aesthetic. Not too hard at all. Had fully stocked food and potions for the last boss. Mechanics were too tough to do legit, so I outhealed it. Hope it gets DLC, and makes some money, because they clearly did in-house/outsourced animations that are incredibly anime inspired, and Wayforward's a good company.

The animated bits are done by Studio Trigger (you know... the Kill-la-Kill and Gurrenn Lagann folks) who have actually started doing that kind of secondary animation work on a bunch of indie games. Another one that got a full animated trailer/intro for example was Indivisible, the second game from Lab Zero. So yeah... it's actually anime, not just "anime-inspired".

Anyway, good to know, I'm half thinking of running a Shantae marathon once I'm done with Shadowrun.

Its too early to speculate when a 9th edition codex might arrive, but the second to last 8th Edition Psychic Awakening event War of the Spider will essentially be a 3-way battle between Bile and his monstrous creations, the Death Guard, and the Talons of the Emperor, with new rules and updates for all three factions, including officially merging the Custodes and the Sisters of Silence into one army from what I'm hearing, so its essentially a mini-codex, and the info and data in there will transfer over to the new edition.

Intro was Trigger, but the in-game ones seem in house. Or outsourced for the in betweens. Style isn't the same at all. Way more...I don't know the terms, where you maximize assets with minimal movement, other than important animations, like the mouth.

How nasty can those Chaos boys be to put up a fight against a proper Talon army?

It all comes down to numbers. It’s not like the Custodes and the Silent Sisterhood can muster all their strength all at once. Because of their manifold duties and responsibilities, how expensive it is to make/train/arm one, the small size of their forces (compared to Imperial Guard, Sisters of Battle, or Space Marines), and how they can’t recoup losses fast, they can only spare a relative few on any given mission. They’re elite badasses, but they can’t be used like grunts and still hope to maintain troop strength (unless the opposition is weak or few in number compared to the Talon forces, in which case its probably massive overkill, and hardly worth calling them in when other Imperium forces can handle it). Every loss is a major blow. Even the Emperor said that he was a miser when it came to putting them at risk because each Custodes is an irreplaceable work of art with a ton of lore and resources spent making one, and the SoS are all pariahs of significant power, which is super rare even with the quadrillions of humans in the galaxy, and they have to compete with the Officio Assassinorum for conscription, and by only conscripting women they make their recruitment pool even smaller. Bile seems to have turned what's left of the Cadian sector into his own personal laboratory, and he has entire legions of New Men (which are designed to hunt down Space Marines and one day overthrow all of humanity) at his back and call, and more besides. And the Death Guard can muster enough ships and soldiers to overwhelm the entire Fifth Sphere of Expansion of the Tau Empire, and that was just a fraction of their forces. So if the Talons come in with only a relatively small handful, they're outnumbered right out of the gate, so they got a real fight on their hands, no matter how badass they are.

I vaguely remember reading some really old MK lore that stated that Shao Kahn was part dragon or part god. Seems like as time has gone by they’ve decided to play into that more and more. Shao did used to work for Onaga the Dragon King before he overthrew him. Perhaps they both had the same dragon ancestors in their distant family line. Or Shao was the final result of some arcane hybrid experiment Onaga or someone else ordered. Or maybe Shao absorbed some of Onaga’s power when he claimed Outworld for his own and took on some of his physical aspects in the process.

Last time I checked, he was the protector god of Outworld, Raiden's local equivalent, who decided he wanted to be a konqueror instead and overthrew Onaga. I might be wrong but that didn't have much to do with dragons or being half-dragon as far as I recall. That was the previous Emperor's gimmick.
