Some great mysteries still out there, boys.
Oh yeah they have no idea, because the most common theory is, in of itself, a paradox.
Proteins in a puddle of warm water bonded together. It has to be warm for the proteins to survive, but warm water makes things dissolve rather than bond. They have no idea what the catalyst was. I was always fond of the theory that one of these pools of warm water happened to get struck by lightning.

It's not even that unlikely, considering that in the very early days of Earth climate was much more unstable and violent, and thunder and lightning a lot more common.

It appears Persona 4 Golden, at the very least, is coming to Steam boy-os.

Skimming through the various theories out there, they all have a rough timeline of how elements can get into a cell-like state, but never quite the catalyst that actually makes them "alive." Primordial soup, sea vents, lightning, all these very complicated chemical interactions, but not that last step.
Clearly, it happened, so we have that going for us.

Another major point of contention is the jump between procaryote to eucaryote cells, because some of the organules in our cells actually started out as independent organisms that got swallowed up by bigger procaryotes and, instead of being digested, due to some Freaky Friday circumnstances became symbiotic. It's believed to be one those so incredibly unlikely occurrences than many people even points it out as a Fermi Paradox solution, and expect the universe to be teeming with life, but for it to be almost exclusively microbial because microbes becoming eucaryotes may be MORE unlikely than abiogenesis itself.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Scientific consensus at the moment seems to go toward nucleic acids being the first information-carrying organic molecules to appear. Specifically RNA.
But since the further back in time you go, the harder it is to know exactly what the conditions were, and that some important bricks of life have been found on meteorites, there is still a long way towards the definitive, all-encompassing theory. It is especially difficult because all physical and chemical parameters interact with each other in regards to organic molecule behavior. So even if we have a rough certitude of the temperature of the primordial ocean a couple billion years ago - you also need a proper pH estimate, and to know which ions were found there, as those are factors that will modify how organic molecules react.
Endosymbiosis leading to eukaryotes is pretty much admitted in the scientific community at that point. Primary endosymbiosis gave cells their nucleus, then a secondary endosymbiosis led to the first eukaryotic photosynthetic cells. You even had a tertiary endosymbiosis when an eukaryote "swallowed" one of those photosynthetic eukaryotes - that led to brown algae, which explains why their chloroplasts have more membranes.

Started painting a mini for the first time since last year. Sexy banshee, figured I'd warm up with a cheap Reaper one. It's kinda weird. On her bared midsection, she has rib lines for only one side, so now that I've layered it, it looks like a dark 7 on her torso. The flowing, complicated robes are the harder part. Did a base coat in a light tan, did a wash with a dark brown, but when I started layering, the first layer was somehow darker than the wash, despite being a mix of lighter colors. Color mixing is my Achilles.

I won 3rd place in that music video contest I posted about.

It's a website that gives its users the ability to personalize reels and makes it easier to both put together a bunch of cues and to track who views them and see what improvements we can make. It's a big deal for me. Anyway, thanks for voting for me.

Uff, that whole Sony presentation was... tiresome. Over an hour of hip hop trailers and "Look at the visuaaaaals!" shots. There were a few good reveals, but as a whole... meeh.

@Sci: Congrats, man! Bronze is still a medal!
PS5 show - Demon's Soul remaster and RE8 were the only hype moments for me. Horizon 2 looked gorgeous, but I don't have interest in actually playing it. Though RE8 might've been the RE4make for a good bit of it, but I'm glad they're mixing the insanity of these super rich virus weirdo sorts with the crappy village and the decent folk got up in it, but still retaining the RE7 grounding. I hope. RE6 went off the walls, but that was where it had to go, RE7 was refreshing, dammit.

I thought that the Ratchet and Clank stuff was the only genuinely impressive bits. That was a game that didn't just look good, it was doing things you CAN NOT do on current hardware.
Demons Souls is nifty. I never have played the original. I like cats so maybe ill play that cat game. Tokyo ghost game seems... at least visually interesting.

There keep being a ton of (alleged) leaks and rumors about MK11 and related stuff... the most trending stuff is the additional Kombat Packs, the general consensus seem to be there's gonna be a couple more, tho who gets in there keeps changing. Then there's the "Test your..." extra game modes, which make sense, and there's even some rumors of a remaster of MK9 being worked on, which matches with whta Ed Boon said about Injustice3 not being the next game thei're gonna release, but... eehh not sure 'bout that. Would be neat, especially considering the dubbing and some of the characters models for MK9 were REALLY bad, but I have my doubts...

If the next MK game is going to be in Lui Kang's timeline reboot, then I can easily see them releasing a few more Kharacter Packs for MK11 with some fan-favorites as a celebration of what was before the next game introduces a whole new status quo. Especially if they're making good money. But a remastered MK9… I don't think that's in the cards.
