In other news I got my first Covid shot. How are the rest of you holding up?

Still no idea when I can get mine, due to the miserable vaccination campaign Germany has had from side of the government. Overcentralized and incompetence on every level. Much of the German populace is really getting pissed off by now, just as I am.

Apparently we are finally starting to let doctors vaccinate their regular patients by mid-April, which is when I'll at least call to see what can be done. As for now, it's a daily chore to read the news, because you just read about idiotic government officials not being able to give any clear answers on anything.

I'm alright. Pretty sure I just moved up the priority list because they finally realized that when you decide to keep schools open no matter what, vaccinating the adults working there might be a good idea.

And on a totally unrelated, "I'm such an idiot" note - small anecdote. I've just bought Bravely Default 2 (on Switch) in the small VG store near my home - second hand so cheaper, and no Amazon involved - and I also picked Bravely Second (on 3DS - direct sequel to Bravely Default) which I had not done for a variety of reasons after finishing Default (mostly because the second half of the story was so utter bullshit I decided to avoid it). I felt like it was better to do Second before 2 so I wouldn't miss anything in the story. And it's actually really good (so far...that endgame to 1 still left a bad taste 10 years later), but that's not really the question here.
I basically never turn the 3DS off, it's just closed near my bed while plugged so I can play a bit before I go to sleep. Except yesterday I messed up the wires and unplugged it, so it was off due to an empty battery when I came back. No biggie, I plugged it, and tried to turn it on. It didn't work. I tried for 5 good minutes, nothing, I was worried it might be broken - which would suck right on the first day of a new lockdown.

And then I realized I was trying to turn it on by pushing the "Home" button instead of "On/Off".

I finished Persona 5 Strikers. I'd give it like a 7.5 or 8.0 out of 10 or so. For what it is (which is a derivative knock off Hyrule Warriors type thing which is just meant to be a fix peddled to specific game series addicts to get a quick infusion of cash) I'd say it's actually pretty good. It's better than it has any right to be.

P5 Strikers, Story of Seasons, and Persona 4 being incompatible with Windows 7 was a major factor in deciding to finally build a new computer.

It also introduces a new, boring mascot character who is a stale repeat of Morgana and Teddy's story but with no interesting personality to make up the difference.

This shit needs to end. Aigis + the dog were fine and dandy in P3, and Teddy had a decent arc, but Morgana was that done again, poorly.

She also has what I call "anime girl voice" which I don't care about in the original Japanese (Japan can do what it wants) but I have no idea why they try to mimic it in the English translation. Basically it involves some voice actress twisting her voice up so high that she sounds like some monster hybrid cross between a 2 year old and the Wicked Witch of the West being melted. It drives me absolutely nuts and makes me want to do violence to any character that speaks it. (Haru was the only female character in Persona 4 or 5 that was previously guilty of it). It's like the female equivalent of Christopher Nolan batman voice. Even this character, however, isn't bad. She's just "fine."

Funnily enough, I found it irritating, until I found it was an affected voice specifically to appear cuter. It's still annoying on the surface, but the effort is charming. As opposed to affecting vocal fry with a California Valley girl accent, which is purely irritating.

I'm still not eligible to get the shot. NYS has been rolling out eligibility, focusing first on those who need it most (old people, people with underlying conditions, healthcare workers, etc) and every few weeks, they're expanding eligibility a bit more. Just a few days ago, they expanded it to people aged 30+, so I'm still not eligible for it, despite being an essential worker.

How'd the virus go up there? My maternal grandparents live somewhere in the region. Haven't heard a word, and no news is good news, but I figured the people fleeing NYC probably spread it upstate. What little work we were able to get last year was mostly from NYC refugees moving into their summer houses in NJ, so I figure they dispersed far and wide.

It is done, finally...



I've beaten Hollow friggin' Knight. 102% completion out of 112%, so basically everything but the really REALLY hard stuff (not for lack of trying). I've started this game 3 times, the first one I've got stucked in the Coliseum, took a break from it that went on too long and then decideed to star over. Second time I ended up jumping on some other games and then my old PC's graphic card went FUBAR. And third time was the charm. Almost ragequitted after trying the Path of Pain (and if you don't know what that is.. I won't spoil it), but I persevered.

This game... one of the biggest, pretties and hardest 2D games I've played. It really is in a lot of ways Dark Souls if it was a Metroidvania. If that is something that interests you in any way, I can't recomment it enough, but be ready, because unless you're insanely good at it from the start, there WILL be parts where you get stuck and screwed over, wether is a particularly hard bossfight, or a jumping puzzle, or an hidden item you're having troubles find.

Also it sounds as pretty as it looks, seriously some of the best music I've heard in a videogame. So since all the DlCs come with the game, no extra charge required, I'd also suggest you buy the OST.

Now... let's see how long before Silksong arrives, and wether or not I'll get to full completion in the meantime...

Since Morgana was the first I encountered, the derivative issues didn't bother me with him and his likable asshole shtick worked on me. (It probably helps that I also just like cats a lot). Winning a Legendary campaign in Total War, perhaps, is similar, but those are usually forgone conclusions at a certain point. There's something to be said about that kind of consistent difficulty making the victory worth it.

The order of play matters, since there's so much repetition of ideas. Teddy is tolerably annoying, and has some funny moments later, whereas Morgana and Ryuji's bitchfit was tremendously frustrating, especially with the climax.

Actually, I encountered the male version of the same behavior recently. It was some famous group of e-personalities having a roundtable interview with Fauci, and all the guys had affected this very faint lisp and spoke with a feminine intonation. That said, Shantae Seven Sirens fucked me on 100% completion, despite combing the entire map twice, so I'm a bit bitter too.

While we don't have biological clocks, thinking about what stage of life our bodies would be in as they grow is concerning. I don't know about my doting abilities, I hope I'm real and show affection when it's necessary to do so. I'm using my brother's dog as practice. I wouldn't say I dote on her, but I'm stern when I feel I need to be and playful when I feel I need to be and understand that she's fine with what little I'm able to offer her in possessions.

I did the math, if I start having kids in four years I'll be 60 when the first one graduates high school. It's been on my mind for a LONG while now that I want to be able to lift them up and throw them around for a decade. To be strong not just because I'm stronger than mommy, but because I'm regarded by my peers and the community around me as being strong. So there's a lot of planning and executing to do if I don't want to be a big disappointment to myself in the future. So there is some sort of biological mile marker on the back of my mind.

Hollow Knight is easily one of my favorite Metroidvanias of all time. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into its making. Art direction, level design, music, the whole nine yards. Silksong is on my most anticipated list; can't wait to play that. But yeah, Hollow Knight can kick your ass pretty hard sometimes. It certainly kicked mine.

Literally nothing works other than backtracking to a save that is a while back and simply not adding any biotics or respecing and not adding any biotics.

I even tried dying and that didn't fix it.

I actually recorded while I was trying to die (not realising the damn game was on normal for some reason halfway through when I realised I really just would not die or get targeted while literally standing still lol) and it shows that switching profiles doesn't fix it.
I mean it's potato quality because I forgot to switch out my settings for testing recording the Elite Dangerous Odyssey Alpha that I can only run in 720 at shit framerate but it still shows it not working.

Well, I got myself an appointment for a vaccine on the 15th. Every time I've checked before now everything has been booked from now until Armageddon. But I heard word of mouth that a pharmacy up the road had some with apparently no trouble booking appointments. I can only assume it's because it's just not one most people think to check.

Well, whatever. First dose is the 15, second dose is in May.

In other news, I just started playing Ghost of Tsushima and my opinion at the moment is something like "It's the best Assassin's Creed game I've ever played." That's somewhat unfair because it's way better than Assassin's Creed but it's doing 0 to actually break the Assassin's Creed model. I'm surprisingly underwhelmed by the graphics. It's been sold as a stupendously pretty game and the character models are really good but the animation is very stiff and the lighting is very flat except at dusk and dawn. There are several games that are several years older that I think look way nicer (Red Dead 2, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn to name a few).

Day three of that two week daily schedule thing I mentioned weeks ago. Finally got all the pieces together; what I want to do and how long I have to do it. So far I have 16 hours of stuff I want to do daily, including 8 hours or so of music/income earning. I'm not doing everything by a strict schedule of course, but I mapped out how much time I want to do each of those things and writing down generally how much time it takes me TO do things. Chores, lessons, gym, gardening and other things.

Ends up, life throws a lot at you, as I spent 6 hours dealing with my car that needs repair yesterday and most of Monday buying and prepping food for the week. I'm still not getting done everything, I missed Japanese writing lessons one day and music another, but I'm watching less TV, I'm getting my piano lessons in and I've been hitting the gym and hard. I found a 3 week arm routine that I'm trying out which fit perfectly with the test I wanted to do. Also tweaking my diet to be more like it was when I had a job and kept the weight down. Car's out of commission all week so I've been walking everywhere and unable to earn income, so I've been filling my day up otherwise.

Anyway, I'll keep this up for the week and see how much time I'm using up doing things and see if I can actually accomplish more throughout my day. And also maybe get some gains in the arm department.

Also my brother got the J&J vaccine yesterday and he's feeling fine. So everyone in my family is fully vaccinated up except for me. I'll get my 2nd dose late April.

4. Droughts in Thailand where manufacturing is
5. Us gamers wanting to upgrade.

All 5 at once is really straining things and the droughts and silicon shortage are the 2 most likely to put an ease on the market in my opinion. Once we have the mining bubble pop then we'll only have the upgrading and the pandemic in the way. The pandemic is slowly shrinking so by this time next year the market is more likely to be better.

I am not desperate NOW to get an upgrade but given the current mark-ups even £500 for a damn 2060 looks tempting to get anything at all for an entire year.

Yeah. I am probably going to go the prebuilt route if I get one this year.
Even if I just cannibalize the parts I need from it (which TBH I probabaly won't I'd just try and find a way to put my current storage and stuff on so I don't NEED to reinstall everything I have on a new rig/OS/whatever as I am not that good with computers and I am also lazy) I know I am noth getting the money I need for it for months so I CAN wait.

I am just looking at my rig and seeing it age before my eyes, lol.
