Some people claiming they may have found the city which inspired the story of Sodom. The city was in ancient Jordan River Valley and they claim it was destroyed by a huge rock falling from space detonating like in the Tunguska event in Siberia.

I've heard of this theory before, a fairly liberal apologetic did a short video on the city, and how it was in the right general area, in the right general time, with the right general catastrophic damage, to be the source of the stories. Glancing through the study, it seems highly reasonable to assume so. Which, putting aside theology, makes for an amazing realization, that humans successfully passed down an oral tradition long enough to be written down, which survived to today, which chronicled real cities that were flattened by cosmic fire.

Supply lines have been screwy for a while in Europe and the UK, guess America has finally started to feel the affects?

Over here it's a mix of covid disruptions and Brexit (anyone saying Brexit has nothing to do with it are usually those who voted for Brexit and are biased). I guess given how fucked things are in the USA with lessened vaccine uptakes that the restrictions are making things worse.

Mind you I have a lot to say a about the dumbfuckery that is America and it's vaccine hesitancy and it's honestly entirely bullshit propping up conspiracy idiots.

I have been getting these exceedingly aggressive calls at work from this company that sells some kind of financial software. I mean calling me like 2 times a day leaving messages and stuff. Does this stuff actually work?! Because as is, it has pretty much guarantied that I would never ever look at their stuff.

I do not get this strategy at all. Is it just "if I call 800 random people, statistically speaking 5 of them might need financial software?" If so, why are they wasting time specifically calling me over and over? I get why pestering a random housewife you have trapped at her front door might *maybe* sell more vacuum cleaners, but I have caller ID and can just refuse to pick up the phone forever. What good does it do?

Then irony of ironies I had an actual honest to god teenager with a pushmower show up and ask to mow my yard for $10 (they still make these?!) and I have no cash on hand so I had to turn him down and now feel like an asshole. Can't win for losing.

Probably. Nobody's said anything about any of this, so it's a rather low key shortage.

We're not particularly restricted even in NJ, don't believe there's even a mask mandate, and the vaccine mandates are being fought tooth and nail by unions. Might solely be a problem with trucking and food production.

I imagine it works on a particular sort of person, the perennial people-pleaser, or the elderly. It took me years to train my grandma to understand that the people calling her several times a day are not in fact from the utilities or the police, and that she should never give out her SS# or financial information. You, clearly, are not the target.

No such problem in my neck of the woods, but obviously such things vary tremendously from city to city, town to town, state to state. A lot of unique variables in play.
