Really? I thought "there's little you can do wrong here" counted as a compliment. Yeah, there are still some minor bugs which annoyed me (pause button often stops working after a few hours of play, needing a restart. Also a bug with one quest which prevented its completion. However, I managed to solve the problem by myself using the game mechanics).
Vol wrote:Most importantly, is there a story worth telling? I'm having a gay old time in Yakuza 0, and in no small, between all the faffing around, there is a story worth telling. Characters that touch on something deeper than bundles of cliches (though they are in many ways that). I'm willing to forgive an awful lot of jank if the story is good. Bonus points for making the effort to do visual storytelling.
I'd say it depends what kind of story you like. It's Epic Fantasy, capitalization intended, about a world-ending threat and the group of mythic heroes who stood up to confront it. It has a ton of variability in its story content, good character work with your companions and the enemies, a vast array of customization in what you can play (24 classes, all of which have six sub-classes, as well as advanced prestige classes). Your choice of god can randomly pop up in conversations and give you some new options in the dialogue. Your mythic class can alter the story quite a lot.
As for visual storytelling, it's isometric gameplay, so of course not the quality of Mass Effect or Dragon Age. It gets the job done, however.
Also, we get a romance option which someone in a video compared to a cross between Viconia DeVir and Tali.
All in all, I highly recommend it. But, since it's very few times people rush off immediately to buy what I recommend, I thought I'd add that currently the game is still getting patches every week at least, so I would wait another month or so. But it's worth it.

I don't have near the amount of hours in it but I've decided to put it down for now, a few friends informed me that their are lots of bugs with missing flags and quests at the moment so I would advise you wait till after a few months of patching at least.

I'd probably shave that down to one month. OwlCat Games is patching very constantly at the moment and I personally got the game done with everything I wanted to, except the secret ending, which needs a dedicated playthrough, since you have to do some very very specific stuff. But the "regular" ending was very satisfying on all ends as well for me. The game works, it just needs some more fine-tuning so some annoyances are ironed out. So, waiting one month should be okay with the current speed of patch cycles from the developers.

You think? Seems like a lot of stuff to fix to me, I think some balance passes would be nice too.
I heard about the secret ending from a friend, Owlcat surely loves their datamining level investigation secret endings.

The balance is fine. Strictly optional encounters can be tough as long as they are doable, which they are. And, again, I got through the game with only minor annoyances. So, yeah, I stand by my opinion that waiting another month should be okay, but more is probably not necessary.

Never bothered to really look into it. But the measures we take for our own comforts probably hasn't helped much.
California had a lot more lakes in the past, at least in the central valley where all the snowmelt from the Sierras would collect. Rivers were mightier too. In fact, I'm sure San Francisco bay formed because there was a lake so large and backed up that when the earth moved it forced water as such tremendous speeds it blew out the coast and created the bay, in a day. But agriculture forced the rivers to be dammed up and the lakes emptied. I'm sure all that evaporated water turned into more rain around the area. But before then, only until a couple million years ago it was mostly underwater, which is why there's really only one type of dinosaur fossil found here, that aquatic one with the duck bill that could stand on its two feet.

Well, on that time-scale, every place is a desert, lush, underwater, frozen, and volcanic. But on the human scale, I meant. Though there's an iconic photo of a pole showing how far the ground has dropped over time due to water loss. Think it was around 30 ft lower from when the pole was planted to when the photo was taken. And if the premise is correct, that the land is reverting to a more arid climate, that's not insurmountable anyway. Extremely expensive, yes, but they got the cash.
Coincidentally enough, the fellow we're working for right now lives there. His mother died a decade ago, and he left her rather large house to sit until now. Place is a mess inside, reeks, mold, water damage, etc. He flew out here to oversee the removal of the last of her earthly belongings, arrange minimal repairs, then list it for more money than most of us will ever make in our lives. It's a bit somber to go through the unwanted remains of someone's lifetime, the classic upper-middle class American décor, the precious figurines, the clothes, the books, and know it's all going to be smashed in a mass haul bin, while the family home, already abandoned to rot for years, will be gutted and flipped by a wealthy speculator. I don't like to think about it while I work.

So that BioWare Gear store have addressed the crazy prices of their international shipping. Haven't actually bought anything yet but I tested how much it would be.
So had $111 worth of goods, then $28 of taxes, shipping was $30 under the new option. It shows a little breakdown and I'm not sure whether it's not working as you can see it says 0 next to duty which I was expecting to have a cost to cover the import taxes, who knows?

Yeah, would have preferred if it was reversed, and Sora was the Mii costume and the DoomSlayer the full fighter. Both because I like the Slayer way more and because this means that the LAST Smash Brothers extra fighter... is... another... swordsman.
I mean, okay, his blade is shaped like a huge key, but gameplay-wise, he's just another guy/gal that beats you with a long metal stick.

yeah it was, I mean it took me a year before I could gather the strength to complete the game the first time.
oddly enough once I beat the game first time things got a lot easier.

I'm sure you're talking about Lake Tulare. They drained that to grow cotton and I think it dropped 10 feet the last decade.
And yes you're right, every place has been a something or other some other time. The place I live is called a chaparral, mostly somewhat dry with patches of hip height tough shrubbery and oak trees lining the bottom of small valleys meant to get by on a little rain water and morning dew.

Probably. It's a fairly iconic photo, I've seen it several times over the decades. I've noticed a theme of the latter half of the last century, and especially the 2 first decades of this one, is that previous "modern" thought and invention was able to produce immediate results, but lacked the wisdom of understanding of complex systems, and now we hastily try to un-screw the pooch, while making the same mistake. The history of Yellowstone wildlife management is a fantastic example.

Given the Ghorgon, and now this, the giants badly need to be dropped a few tiers on the tech trees. To tier 2. Because they're no longer a threat past that point, and serve mostly as line anchors to draw ranged fire, or to clog a gate.

I never got into Twitch. I sort of feel like I became at old fart at around age 20 and most every internet thing that's come up since about 2005 I've completely missed. From the outside looking in, it doesn't seem like I'm missing much for the most part.
Just got back from the first hunting run of the year. Dad got 2. I got 1. All does. I usually go again in mid November.

Do you do anything special with them?

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
I wouldn't say "special." Sometimes jerky because we have a dehydrator. You can use them for anything you use beef for. So the best meat (which is the tenderloins and backstrap or meat that runs parallel to the spine) I cut up for steaks. I save several big chunks of "meh" meat for roasts (usually 2 shoulder roasts and 2 rump roasts). All the rest mostly gets ground up for hamburger to be used in chili, tacos, or anything else you might use ground meat for. I have a meat grinder capable of making sausage but have never bothered to try that yet. I also bought a vacuum sealer last year which saves a ludicrous amount of time on processing. I used to use butcher paper, which will preserve meat for several years if double wrapped, but man it's a hassle.
