If history is any guide, then the Thanksgiving football game should drop a teaser trailer during half time.

Considering we're finally getting Spidey fighting Doc Ock and Goblin again, also another quote comes to mind...

Mind you, I'm NOT complaining!

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
Eternals was okay. Not the most exciting movie, but solid material, way better than, say, Venom or the first two Thor movies. I'd put in in the middle of the pack for Marvel movies. Obviously it suffers from a too big cast and the movie needs half its runtime to really get going because of that. But after it does, it all begins to click.
Obviously the entire internet chud brigade (The Quartering, Critical Drinker, Midnights Edge, Heelsvsbabyface, etc., etc.) are going after it with a fury, because they've convinced themselves that Marvel is going "full woke" and therefore want the Marvel movies now to fail. And aside from that there is usual glee these people (and a lot of normie critics) evince when great franchises break down. Which isn't even the case here, Marvel just launched three movies with not that great built-in appeal for the audience, since basically no known Marvel heroes feature in them, aside from the already dead Black Widow. I expect things to get back on track for the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home next month. If that movie fails, however, it'll be time to ask what is happening. But little chance of that.

I mean, they ARE going "full woke", and disregarding more and more their source material, or even their own continuity (Captain Marvel and Black Widow's movies were both major clusterfucks in that regard), but there's still time to course correct, and even if they don't it doesn't mean there won't be still the occasional good movie or series that slips through the cracks. It's funny tho, because for reasons that I'm not really figuring out, the bulk of the mainstream journalists' woke brigade is going after Eternals almost as fiercely as the anti-sjw camp this time around.
The major problem I see the MCU having right now is a lack of a general direction: the Infinity Saga had a clear journey to get through and for the most part it delivered. Now the only things that seem to tie everything togheter is the Multiverse stuff, which seems more an excuse to bring actors and characters from non-MCU Marvel movies into the fold, and the promise that we're gonna get a New Avengers team... eventually. Considering that Avengers Endgame was a pretty good series finale already, if things don't start to get less clusterfuck-y soon, I can see more and more people losing interest and walking out, so to speak.
As for Spiderman: No Way Home, I think it's pretty much a given it's gonna be a big hit. Both because of the film itself, the sheer popularity of Spidey and its core rogues gallery and because it's going to be the only recent MCU film to get truly released all over the globe, China included.

Yeah, that's the theory, but I can't see that lasting more than a few movies/shows either. Kang it's a classic villain, sure, and a very powerful one, but he doesn't have the same gravitas as Thanos or Doctor Doom. He's more likely just another stepping stone in whatever the people behind the scenes are plotting. He's probably gonna be the next Ultron, rather than the next Thanos, if you know what I mean.

Out of these options? I'd have to give it to No Time To Die. As much as I enjoyed Dune, Craig's last Bond adventure wins out for me.

I don't see Marvel going "full woke" (whatever that is supposed to mean in this context) at all. Yeah, we got stupid shit like the "all women heroes land on the same spot and pose" in Avengers Endgame and Black Widow wasn't too subtle with its messaging, either, but what exactly counts as woke with movies like Shang-Chi or Eternals? Not all-white casting?

They are clearly setting up the new direction, with Kang in Loki and now the Celestials in Eternals.

maybe Kang can always show up because of time travel multiverse shit and he doesn't have to be portrayed by the same actor or even he doesn't even has to be a he.

That could be interesting, and consistent with the source material too. The Avengers had fought a bunch of time traveling supervillains that turned out to get just variations of Kang, Immortus being the most famous.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier was also as suble as a sledgehammer to the teeth. WandaVision literally got rewritten on the flight because they didn't want it to end with Wanda turning evil, or for Doctor Strange to show up because they didn't want to have, and I quote, "the white man to show up and fix everything". Feige's de facto second in command keeps going on record saying she doesn't want to use the name X-Men moving forward because it's "outaded and disrespectful to the team's female members", and Eternals race and/or gender swapped most of its character, often very randomly, like with the Korean Gilgamesh or the Pakistani playing an Indian.
So yeah, I am annoyed by such things, but I'm not climbing ontop of a building and howling at the moon because of it lol So long as they don't do something like an MCU equivalent of the Last Jedi, I think thei're gonna be mostly fine for a few more years. Just... not as successful as they were pre-Endgame. I'd be really really REALLY shocked if they managed to get that successful ever again.

Meh. Asking how a black man can be Captain America (with stuff which was in the comics in the first place) didn't strike me as particular "woke", unless you think the Civil Rights movement in the 1960's counts as "woke".

For the "white woman"? ^^ I mean, geeze.

Racial diversity is not a bad thing per se and the Eternals are such non-entities in the Marvel canon that they could as well be replaced with ducks.
The "X-Men" thing sounds pretty stupid, though, I'll give you that. It's a factor of the English language that the word for the human race is also "man" (in German it is "Menschen", so different from "Männern", i.e. men). Too bad for her.
Alienmorph wrote:So yeah, I am annoyed by such things, but I'm not climbing ontop of a building and howling at the moon because of it lol So long as they don't do something like an MCU equivalent of the Last Jedi, I think thei're gonna be mostly fine for a few more years. I think it totally is possible, if they manage to build it up correctly. They need charismatic characters and good character interactions and a good plot, as they had in the first phases and they need to build it up. That takes time and these first movies are either retreads (Black Widow) or build-up for what comes next with a lot of character introductions (Shang-Chi, Eternals). That the latter two so far didn't really take off means that they'll have a harder time relying on these new characters, so I expect them to change course and rely more on the established characters in the next years.
Look, I am also not fond of woke ideology. I regard it as authoritarian and an attempt by the political, economical and intellectual establishment to atomize resistance to their policies, by making minorities form small delimited communities which don't interact, i.e. thereby preventing any form of larger social movements.
However, those ideological Youtube channels like the ones I mentioned (The Quartering, Critical Drinker, etc.) are by now preemptively trying to sabotage the success of the Marvel movies , both because they've decided that they are woke and therefore the enemy, and of course because these kind of people always want to see the giants fall. And it shows in their videos. Critical Drinker can't watch a trailer nowawadays without ranting about "strong, independent females" which he sees everywhere as enemies of good cinema, Heelsvsbabyface goes on about his "Wahamen!", Midnights Edge so fucking obviously are biased towards the points I mentioned above in their coverage, it puts in doubt all of what they say. Not to mention their reliance on Doomcock as a source for rumors, when the guy is wrong 99% of the time.
Ah, well. Sorry, I am very annoyed at those people, because if you want to do anti-woke coverage of things, at least don't make shit up to bolster your points. Smart people notice when that is done and I am got damned annoyed that I can't find a movie channel which is not either mindless shilling (John Campea, Grace Randolph) or unhinged ranting (Midnights Edge, Critical Drinker, etc).

No no, I get you. The whole "culture war" nonense is pretty exhausting, and there's "war profiteers" on both sides. Maybe I'm just a bit more jaded and negatively biased because of how down the rabit hole Marvel comics went already, so starting to see the patterns repeating with the movies as well causes me to be more easily annoyed by this kind of stuff. I do watch a bunch of stuff from some of the "anti-woke" guys and gals camp, but there's some of them, like the Quarterning or Geeks and Gamers, that I can't really g'damn stand either.

also some of those projects sounds horrible from an idea stand point.

"The Netflix Festival Japan 2021 event debuted a new concept art for Sunrise and Legendary Pictures' live-action Gundam film on Tuesday. Netflix will stream the film worldwide. Mary Parent (vice chair of Worldwide Production for Legendary), Legendary'a Cale Boyter (Pokémon Detective Pikachu and Dune producer), and Sunrise's Naohiroshi Ogata are producing. As previously announced, Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) is serving as the director and an executive producer for the film, and comic book author Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, Runaways) is writing the script and serving as an executive producer. Makoto Asanuma is also an executive producer."

Oh, I'm jaded, alright, but I get very annoyed when people try to bend the truth with their agenda reporting. That obviously happens on the woke side, but also just as obviously on the anti-woke side. It's exhausting, just as you said.
Midnight's Edge used to be mostly informative with some edge, but down the anti-woke hole they went and now it's obvious that they are trying to bend reality to their agenda.
I also see with some amusement and alarm that the anti-woke crowd is now doing constant crossovers with each other, as if they are Channel Awesome ten years ago. ^^

Okay, I must admit... that's a pretty decent casting for a live action One Piece. I still think it's even a bigger waste of time and money than doing a live action Cowboy BeBop (which is saying something), but I have no major gripes with the cast this time around and all the main characters are accounted for. It's something!
