Starting to get into the new playstyle, understand mechanics and how to cripple myself. Ignoring the quest to go bash my head against Cathay walls and go west for one. I know what you mean about settlements, but I'm seeing it more as an army composition issue. In the second Ogres attempt, bringing some gnoblar trappers in solely to be deployed on the other side of the map, then stealth in to cap all the points, worked beautifully. With Tzeentch, still not sure how to handle melee grinders when the Horrors simply cannot output enough damage, and magic isn't sufficient, but I've brought Furies solely to snipe towers while I took my shots. Cycling units so their barriers recharge is also busted, if I can figure out how to make it consistent.
Haven't touched Cathay yet, or managed to capture a single demon soul. Intend to, but the number of mechanics alone for Cathay seems daunting.
I deleted my Cathyay campaign after almost a hundred turns, because of the supply lines bug. A bit silly, yes, but it bothered me quite a bit. And Cathays mechanics ask for a very methodical playstyle, since the Yin/Yang mechanic really wants you to stay balanced, so you need to plan three turns ahead what you want to research, build and which lords and heroes you want to hire. As for their unit roster, it is very balanced, however you'll rather sooner than later just spam Celestial Dragon units and some artillery. I'll definitely play another campaign in the future, however maybe in Immortal Empires.
I'm fine now with the settlement sieges, however that's mostly because I just autoresolve them.

Yeah, found out about the bug too, and it's nasty. Lost my Tzeentch campaign to discovering a very obtuse design choice. Was doing the first demon soul, Nurgle's, with my only army, because I only had 2 provinces when the first rift popped. Get to the Manse, while opportunistic enemy armies are swarming my borders, but thankfully my garrisons are *nearly* as good as bullshit defense victories as in Attila, but I need to finish up and teleport back real soon.
Capture the first 2 points, no real losses, keeping everyone topped off on health, refilling ammo, even upgraded a few melee units to be tankier. Plenty of magic, got an Exalted Flamer recruited to help snipe down the Gardener. Then as I move into the last point, and get 30 seconds to throw up barricades, towers, and arrange my entire army for the onslaught from the sides, the game spawns in the daemon prince, and some nasty melee troops, behind all those defenses, and nearly inside my army. As Tzeentch, that is a fatal occurrence, and with no real room to maneuver up there, and the proper waves still coming from the sides, it doomed my army. Put up a good fight, got the Gardener to a fifth his HP or so, but having my ranged overrun from the start, and the melee having no staying power or means to kill war beasts, it was over. Lost the army, had no money to raise a new one, and that was that.
Apparently the intended design was to hold the second tier, and immediately abandon the high ground of the third, or something. Because short of waiting until tier 5/6 to do the _first_ of the four forays, there was no way to win that fight like that. Then I tried N'kari again and lost clean on turn 4, due to underestimating how long the reinforcement timer would take. Doing the Great Orthodoxy again, but it's going well. Took the starting province, razed Hell Pit, good start.

Yeah, I heard that the Tzeentch battle is nasty. I had a similar occurence with Katarin's quest battle for her cloak, where I already now have the Ice Guard doomstack for her (i.e. Katarin, a tempest Frost Maiden, a Patriarch, two Little Grom's and the rest Ice Guard with glaives) and her quest battle has you getting ambushed from all sides by a Tzeentch army. And it puts your Ice Guard into skirmish mode, which I only discovered after the second time trying the battle, i.e. all my commands were being disregarded, because skirmish mode overrides them due to the proximity of enemies. Very annoying and on the third try I managed the battle without too many problems.
Anyway, it's going pretty well in my Katarin campaign. I'm just about to confederate the last non-player Kislev faction and get Erengrad and am quite near to getting the autoconfederation with Kostaltyn via supporters. Katarin currently is in the realm of Khorne for the third soul. I plan on chilling out the next rifts until someone else gets three souls and then, if necessary, utterly stomp their realm in a blitzkrieg via the portals. Could be a long way back, though, so I don't know how viable that idea will be.
*edit* Oh, I just read a much smarter idea on Reddit, i.e. move a lot of agents to the faction which is getting ahead on souls and close down all their portals immediately when they spawn. Since I spam churches with Kislev, anyway, for high devotion and supporters, I have a massive surplus of recruitable patriarchs, so that should be doable.
And here's how it feels to play Miao Ying:

Started replaying Cyberpunk 2077 since they released the next-gen patch. I had previously shelved it and decided to just wait for them to fix it before seriously trying to play it.
I didn't play it much at the peak of its brokenness so maybe I don't have the necessary perspective, but from where I'm at now, the game seems to have gotten a mostly raw deal. It is not TW3 obviously, but I've been consistently impressed with anything to do with the main story and the characters. Side quests are meh but mostly inoffensive, especially if you start ignoring the zillion police scanner missions.
Biggest complaint is that the gameplay is redundant. I'm doing a netrunner build and so far, there's been pretty much nothing to incentivize me to do anything but use stealth and keep hitting people with overheat through cameras over and over.
It's visually pretty nice but the physics are notably bad. They seem worse than TW3 which is weird.

Also entertaining to hear Makoto say things like "Eat a dick, Johnny!"

My favorite so far with the 1.5 patch of Cyberpunk is that it's completely viable to run around and throw knives instead of using guns or melee, since the knife magically returns to your hands after a few seconds.
But yeah, it definitely has that problem of wanting to please everyone. Hell, I'm not even focusing on a hacker build and I can still get away with zapping people through cameras. On the highest difficulty.
When it clicks, Night City has a solid atmosphere that you rarely get in games these days. That is, when it's not freaking the fuck out because of some weird glitch.

I did Rasputin's quest battle earlier, and the deeply unpleasant tradition of having no setup phase, and random unit placement, with enemies seconds away from engaging, continues. Big part of why I dislike quest battles. That, and the inevitable surprise flank (2 hydras). Thankfully, I was bringing a mostly gold chevron mid-game stack, so despite the left flank being ground down to 8 men in each unit, they survived, but it was frustrating to have a cool quest battle, with 3 nice chokepoints, and get fucked by whatever algorithm guesses where to place my men. Case in point, my 2 Groms were in front of the formation on their ramp.
Agent spam to snipe portals is sneaky, unintended, and bullshit. I approve, heh. Had it happen to me in fact, was gonna go into one in Praag, which I held, but a random agent closed it while I was preparing my army. Fucker.

I did a full map clear, but for a few broken quests, a little while back. My impression was that it was not at all the game I expected it to be, or what it looked like, but it was very good on its own merits. That said, about 66% of the content could be cut, or rolled into other things, and it would be better for it. Did a generalized stealth/snipe/hack build, but the higher tier stuff was so strong that stealthing at all was to voluntarily make it harder.
End game fight:

I want to do a Mantis blade build, whenever they release enough story content to make it worth it. There was an issue where the cinematic "impale them and look into their face" animation was a net loss of DPS and also made you vulnerable to being shot to shit, so the default mod was to roll with pacifism so it wouldn't trigger. Hope they fixed that.
Tell us who you waifu, it's very important.

Oh man, I wasted some good points on knives. When I found out you have to throw the _actual equipped knives_, and they don't 1 shot, and you have to manually pick them back up, that went right out the window, given neck-snapping was better in 99% of cases.

Will be whoever the straight dude (who I have not encountered yet) is or no one if he sucks. I'll save a male playthrough for some future date when there is more DLC. I don't so far hate Panam so probably her at that point.

I'm fairly sure one guy is bi, but not who the hetero man is. If it's who I think, he's a really cool dude that seemed more fit for specifically Shadowrun than this. Panam gave me a terrible first impression, to the point that the friend who goaded me to play the game was baffled with my hot take, but grew on me over time. Choosing Nomad background helped, as well as main story stuff. In horrific nightmare world, the little spots of lights, characters, were the sole reason becoming a cyber-psycho didn't seem a rational choice.

That seems right. Then the hookers don't count. The milieu implied a laissez faire sexuality, given the body-horror and corporatism, nobody has a fixed preference because why would you? I intended to play as a minimal cybernetic V, but once I saw that wasn't a consideration, other than the Buddhist monks, gave up on that.

Yep. Still vastly preferred the assertive Yennefer over the simping coming from Triss.

Playing a nomad as well and leaning into nomad takes. I'll probably play corpo when I play a dude. I actually leaned into cyberpunk aesthetic and went with a style of character I would avoid like plague in other RPGs (tattoos, robo eyes, etc). Street kid just strikes me as generic and boring in this universe.
Current character is maximally brainy and maximally physically puny. I'll probably go for opposite of that with dude and play some kind of crazy fast, sword wielding ninja type thing.
Though in hindsight I think choices that organically fit the game better would have been melee based male nomad V and female netrunner corpo.

Incidentally, my planned second playthrough, whenever enough story content is added, is going to be a lady corpo with Mantis blades, zipping around at superspeed and sending heads flying. I went as natural as I could visually, the bigger issue was that every good piece of armor I found until the midgame made my V look like a flamer:
Pretty much. Unless you lean into embodying your new best friend. Being full assault soldier/sniper isn't too thematic.

It's also much easier on the heart letting Triss go than Yennefer, given that the game pretty much has hers and Geralt's romantic relationship over when the game begins, while Yen and Geralt are pretty much in a relationship. The only one who really objects is Dijkstra and... you know. Dijkstra.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Upon reading the books, it's just very hard to pick anybody but Yennefer because Geralt just wouldn't pick anybody but Yennefer.
They have a fraught, on-off again relationship in which they both periodically cheat and one or the other gets in a big fight with the interloper and drives them off. It's ambiguous if this is purely because of the djinn or if the djinn is just an excuse for something they'd do anyway. I think it's that Geralt is horny as fuck and sucks at monogamy and Yennefer can't/won't stop using sex as power games.
Also Ciri thinks of Yennefer as her mother which becomes part of the calculus as well.
