I just found on the side walks, barely 20 minutes or so after I passed the first time and it wasn't there before and it couldn't walk, one of it's paws was literally ready to fall of, no idea where it came from, but it really pissed me that found the poor thing in such a state.

On the subject of helping animals...

To those of you who haven't heard, California, once again, is experiencing wild fires. Malibu is one of the worst sites of it, and there are many ranch owners there. I managed to spend a day as a volunteer in helping evacuate the ranches of the animals. I spent more time walking than I did actually leading animals anywhere, and the most exciting thing I did was walk a horse to the shore and hitch her to a post. There were dozens of us doing the same thing, and we managed to save almost every animal. Unfortunately, there are still some MIA. I wish I could help more, but at this stage even volunteers are being turned away for more professionally-trained assistance.

Ashe is pretty cool. Her TNT is going to be nerfed at some point, it's really good even if you can't hit the damn thing mid flight. There's a delay on her scoped shot which fucks with my muscle memory, too used to being able to flick (RIP TF2 and Widow quickscopes). But if you hold fire as you scope, you'll immediately pop one off, bypassing the delay. So there's and adjustment period, and by that, I mean I'm landing around 35% of my shots with her. Coach gun seems like the spread is too wide to use offensively, but it's fantastic for getting up high, which seems like the best use, since any annoying flanker isn't going away with one knockback. Bob's strong as hell, but has to babied, sent in at the right time to the right place, ideally with support.

So they hit the mark on a mix of McCree and Widow, quite fun, but mechanical skill is everything.

Ashe has shown me how awful people are at aiming in OVerwatch. I've seen so many botched dynamite throws, I can see bullets missing their marks, and many of POTG with her are downright embarrassing. They did actually nerf her slightly from the PTR; you were able to squeeze a scoped shot, and as soon as you drop ADS, you can fire off a few rounds right away for an easy kill. Now there is a slight delay before you can fire once drop ADS. I somewhat agree, that dynamite needs a nerf, but I would say nerfing the total DOT would be enough.

I actually work out of a police building now. And as it turns out animal control left them here for some reason, but they came back and got them. I got paid to play with kittens for about 20 minutes though so it wasn't so bad.

They've been pretty good so far at giving us just enough details to know just how devastatingly powerful the were back in the DAOT without spoiling the mystery of that era.

Some of the battle constructs and weapons the Men of Iron had were insane, even by 40k standards. Serpentine ships the size of Saturn's rings that destroyed stars, war machines that latched onto planets and chewed up entire continents like a giant wood chipper and consumed the raw data of the reality itself, nanobot swarms that could strip the flesh of whole armies of humans down to their bones. Shit got real.

Though some space-elves said they were able to beat peak humans way back when, MoI included. So either old Eldar had even more nutty shit, they're lying as they always do, or our peak wasn't totally insane.

It's pretty fun watching the races move towards their endgames at an extremely slow rate. Emps could come back and it wouldn't even be a victory the way things are going.

You could argue that nearly the entire class doesn't need good aim to be effective. "Close enough" works fine for basically all but the hitscans, and even then, several of them can spray and pray. So the skill is not cultivated. Though I'll admit I feel like a fraud when I've hit low Masters and whiff really easy shots with Ashe, over and over, given my favorite hero is Widow. Granted, I mostly plays tanks now or have to flex to support, but those rare, precious times I go DPS, it's Widow, McCree, or now Ashe.

Her PotG seems weighted, as I've gotten it a few times lately, and thankfully it's rarely the embarrassing moments. Did see one guy get it where it was all Bob while Ashe was dead tho.

Yeah, the DOT runs a few ticks too long. Pyro had that problem for a decade, now I hear they changed it so the afterburn depends on how long the flame was kept on.

That's one of the things about 40k's lore and timeline of events that I find confusing: mankind was at the height of its power and dominated the stars at that period of time, but the Eldar were also still ruling the galaxy as well as this was before the birth of Slaanesh as realspace measures time. That both mighty empires could seemingly coexist and the galaxy was large enough to accommodate both civilizations so as to not have them bump into each other and cause conflict seems… odd and irregular. Maybe mankind's space empire pre-Imperium wasn't as far reaching as we were led to believe and the Eldar were content to let them play at being the galaxy's dominant power because they found it amusing or were too busy with their hedonistic pursuits to notice and care? I dunno, maybe I'm getting my timeline of events mixed up or missed a retcon or update from one of the editions or something.

Yeah, you could say that again. Reading through the recent codexes and books, I can see narrative seeds being planted that will grow to produce big things down the line.

Now that the Great Rift is formed, the balance of things has shifted, and new potential futures are possible that weren't before. Now the daemon Primarchs are interested in the galaxy once again, willing to leave the Great Game in the Warp for the "Petty Game" of the mortal world.

According to Mortarion all the surviving Primarchs --loyalist and traitor-- will be returning, and he was disappointed to discover that Roboute Guilliman was the first loyalist to come back. He's content to mess with Guilliman but he was hoping for the Lion or the Khan to show up first. The Daemon Primarchs are looking forward to settling matters "within the family" instead of marching to Terra. Mortarion thinks its 100% certain that Abaddon will ultimately succeeded in reaching Terra and killing the Emperor, that's why he's not interested in joining up with him: he sees Abaddon's victory as inevitable so he doesn't need any help.

Mortarion thinks the Emperor is concentrating his power in the Warp to do something major, possibly raising a vast spectral army referred to as the "Unliving Legion". A ghost army of all the dead space marines and imperial guard perhaps?

The Emperor's Sword, now in Guilliman's possession, can give daemons and even deamon primarchs a True Death, which is permanent oblivion that no power can resurrect. True Death can also be achieved if a daemon is killed normally in the presence of enough Sisters of Silence because their blank/null/pariah powers prevents its essence form returning to the Warp. However there are some daemons immune to True Death, because they are fated to be present at the End Times. So if a deamon character is destined to be there at the end of days for the final battle, than nothing can permanently kill it until the fated time. Kinda like the Chaos Gods giving their favorite minions super plot amor.

Guilliman is starting to wonder if the Emperor really is a god and the Imperium are right to worship him after seeing some miracles that allowed him to win the Plague War against Mortarion he can't account for with just reason and science alone; he gets saved by a living saint pulling off a DBZ level miracle of power that had daemons of chaos utterly terrified and calling the saint that special unique insult Chaos only uses for the Emperor: "Anathema", indicating the saint indeed was a temporarily vessel/avatar for the Emperor. Guilliman decides to read the Lectitio Divinitatus to judge for himself fairly and honestly. What conclusion he came to after all this soul-searching and research, we don't know yet.

Gork and Mork appeared to Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka in a vision and told him to unite all orks under one banner for Da Great Waaagh!, the Waaagh! to end all Waaaghs!, and once the ork psychic field generated by unified ork-kind is strong enough, Gork and Mork plan to manifest in realspace thanks to the Great Rift weakening the laws of reality and lead the orks to the final battle.

The Carcharodons space marine chapter has seen a new Tyranid hive fleet approaching the galaxy and its so big they don't think anything can stop it.

There's some hints as to the Eldar pantheon being remade, at least partially. Ynnead was only the start. And Aurelia Malys is seemingly being subtlety groomed by Cegorach, so she seems to have an important role to play in the future.

And that's just the stuff off the top of my head. Plus, we still have that one elephant in the room: the Void Dragon still sleeping on Mars. Some brave or crazy Necron lord will make a play for Mars at some point.

Is it worth the price of a Switch?

If it's any good I'll wait until after xmas/new year to pick one up.
I'm not wanting to sink that much money on a system that would primarily be a handheld for me and there are currently only 2 games I'd consider playing on it at a push.
Dropping £300+ for the switch and a couple of games seems like a massive spend when I am not certain of the switch's shelf life until the nuSwitch where they take this proof of concept and go ham with it.

I did like most of the new characters, but the whole narrative felt more like a long commercial to promote them, than anything. I mean... there's literally 20 or so years of history inbetween MK9 and X that we are explained, but not shown.

Again, feels a bit silly to complain too much of the story in Mortalk f-ing Kombat, but Netherealm has become pretty good with it, and I'd much like to see them keep the stardard high.

Given that planets are still be rediscovered all over the place, seems more like the Eldar had a live and let live thing with humanity at the peak, yeah. Too busy fucking a murdergod into existence to care, since even at their lowest they're still totally sure they're superior than the mon'keigh who could squash them if they tried. Though then I want to know what it was like during the height of the excess, since the most I've heard is "total hedonism" and "blood soaked streets."

Ah, memories. Height of my weeb phase in high school, I sat down and read the entire run of the manga over a couple days. I remember the guy in bandages being a really neat fight, Kenshin being cool despite the no-kill rule, and then a blur of an arc about some Christian cult on an island or whatever. Then skipping to the new government stuff.
