I'm reminded of my Bretonnia campaign for the Legendary achievement. By the late game, having partially taken Ulthuan, the performance was _a little choppy_. Need to get back in TW3, to refresh my skills before IE hits. Don't want to get caught lacking, but doing the first turn of Daniel's campaign alone is a strange and scary experience. Starting units are a weird mix, no capital, easy first fight.

Meanwhile I'm finally playing through the Halo MC collection, since a friend I reconnected does weekly MP with his brother. Halo 1 really is the tail end of the Boomer shooter design style. The fucking Flood surprise spawns directly behind you, the ambush after Keyes with the fuel guns and grenade spam, makes you realize how pampered we've been. Somehow, I'm worse at the Flood'd Covenant ship level than when I was a teen, despite exponentially better skills, which is an odd experience.

I appear to have broken my computer. Hot on the heels of my old Chromebook dying, and my little drink fridge dying, while hitting my desk like a stupid ape, I knocked my wireless phone charger off the side, a light little gadget, and it bounced off the top of my case. Bricked. Pretty sure it's the mobo that died, given the location, and how it hangs on the BIOS bootup.

Also, for no apparent reason, pressurized water shot from all the toilets in the house, all over whatever was near. Thankfully, not sewage water, most likely some water company cleaning they neglected to warn us of.

So this has been a very disagreeable day. Friday too, so I get to enjoy a weekend reflecting on how stupid I am before I decide to try a repair shop or get a new mobo. I have my old PC hooked up, but it's running very, very slowly for no apparent reason, which is concerning too.

I know what that's like. My uncle on my father's side was a... difficult man to get along with to say the least, but all the same, when you wake up one day to discover someone in your family is gone suddenly, it impacts you in ways you didn't expect.

I know what that's like. My uncle on my father's side was a... difficult man to get along with to say the least, but all the same, when you wake up one day to discover someone in your family is gone suddenly, it impacts you in ways you didn't expect.

Thank you, guys. Only have one good memory with the man, and many not. But I can't help but feel sad regardless. Doesn't seem right that my grandparents have to bury a son and a grandson in their lifetime. Paying for the cremation and funeral is already causing drama in the family, which is rather fitting given his life. But I managed to get my mom to laugh instead of cry for a moment, so I've done what I can.

In happier news, today was Galarian Zigzagoon community day. Caught a few hundred, 18 or so shinies. Has that great American flag color scheme. No perfect IVs, which is remarkable, because I've never got one from doing every community day this year. Was good to also get out and walk for a few hours in much nicer weather. Foot tendon started acting up around 2 hours in, which is concerning given it's been like 2 months since the injury. Probably need to a see a doctor at some point. But wasn't super painful, wasn't limping much.

Started working on figuring out what broke in my PC. Thought it was the mobo or power, since there was a hard freeze, and the keyboard lost power. But after taking apart the entire CPU cooling mechanism, the GPU, checking all connections, and shorting the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS, pretty sure it's the boot drive. SSDs are known to brick if power is lost sometimes. Given the system locked up from a impact, and power was still active, seems reasonably likely. Went into BIOS setup and saw my Samsung drive wasn't listed, and that may have been the boot drive. So I need to try and power cycle it and hope it does a factory reset of the cache/firmware/etc., and it'll work again. Otherwise gonna be some trouble.

So I hope you guys are having a better weekend thus far.

In a ray of sunshine, managed to recover the PC. Had 3 SSDs in it, since this rig has to last a long time. Thankfully, the boot drive was fine. Second drive was empty. But the third drive, a fancy Samsung 2TB which had all my game installations, appears to be fried. For whatever reason, the BIOS was trying to boot from it first instead of the Windows installation, despite the set order. Disconnected the SATA data, started right up. Tried powercycling the Samsung, twice, no go. Going to give it a third shot, if not, it's dead. No great lost, but my money. Small mercies, small mercies.
