In happier news, won the campaign conditions for Kostaltyn. Played it exactly as the game conditioned me too. Only held the starting province, fortified, lost the supporter race, and blitzed the 4 souls. Made money by sending his stack into Norsca territory and fighting. With the Norsca and Chaos stacks breaking against me, Ice Court and Empire held on much better, for a while. Then the Forge was interesting. First point, easy, set up the choke with guns and arrows, spawns couldn't get past it. Second was a shitshow, guns couldn't get LOS, Kostaltyn nearly died against a Soul Grinder somehow, Ice Guard got battered, had no dedicated anti-large, awful and messy. Thankfully the teleport button resets everything, and the turrets at the first point farmed me plenty of resource points. Then the final battle was cake. Every gun and bow, and 2 Fire Rockets/Grom, all focused fired on the big guy, while Kostaltyn tanked him, and he was down before the first spawns even reached me.

Going for the long victory, but apparently stopping Chaos emboldened Chaos, because my allies are falling apart, and I'm getting overrun with armies in my land. Ursun's blizzard is helping a ton, haven't lost anything yet, but it's hard to gauge my progress.

I'd recommend trying out Cathay for a nice, relaxed campaign for the long victory. Or play them in Immortal Empires with the ultimate apocalypse modus turned on, which should be fun, since by the time it triggers, you should have Cathay united and they all have to come at you from the west. ^^

There was a fantastic AAR of Medieval 2, Stainless Steel, Late Era, Byzantine, I've read a few times. "I Am Skantarios." I keep thinking about doing an AAR of my own, for the 1 or 2 people here who'd ever look at it, but that one is the standard I'd hold myself to, and I know I'd fail to reach it.

Haven't recruited a single bear rider unit in fact! Won the game with my only high tier units being some sword Ice Guard. Pushing east now, where Mannfred took out the Ice Court. Got a field army taking the south from the ogres. Got Kostalyn playing whack a mole in the mountains with Norsca. Got a positive cash influx, for the first time in forever. I don't know when or how the mission to save the true tzar pops, but I better get it before I finish this sweep.

Got back from visiting family. We're a good bunch and I really enjoyed getting to spend my time with all of them. Quite a few aunts and uncles, a dozen cousins with their own children and lots of laughter all around. We all genuinely enjoyed each other and I'll miss them until we meet again.

Currently I've solved the WIN 7 update to WIN 10. The solution I think involved two things; 1) I downloaded DirectX 9 and ran dxdiag in command prompt to make sure the drivers were signed, and 2) when downloading the OS from the DVD I chose the option that ignores all the updates to make a smooth transition and opted for the install now. That worked with no failures. I got WIN10 version from YEARS ago and spent a few hours windows updating everything until we have the current version. Best case scenario since I had no money to spend upgrading any hardware.

Work wise I have an album I've written that needs to be prepped for mastering. Tracks need to be separated and have processing removed, panning and reverbs removed. All so I can hand someone the files, they can drop it into their superior setup and get my pieces sounding their best.

Also, I have a lot of expenses that need to be payed for, so I'll be out earning incomes as much as possible.

Also also, the past two months have been awful for the gym life. I made a promise to myself that by the time I turn 40 (in three months) that I'll be on track to be active and muscular. Also there's a wedding in December where I want to look my best. So I have to get back in gear.

Also also also, I have to get better organized and clean up my studios well as the networking aspect of the music bizznuss. I'll be touring other studios while inviting others to mine and mentally getting ready to hammer out some serious work hours so I can be working at max productivity. SO I have my work cut out for me the next three months.

Been running a Cathay campaign in Immortal Empires with Zhao Ming. It took me just over a 100 turns, but I've sewn up the entirety of Cathay, at the end confederating Miao Ying when she got below 10 reluctance to accept the confederation, by requesting her biggest army (which got it down to 4) and then threatening her with the confederation request.

I got an army in each gate citadel and had one nice defense fight against Kholek Suneater with two stacks against three of mine. Meanwhile, I am hunting down Villitch's last region with Zhao. Imrik is of course on my side in a military alliance and we are sewing up Goldtooth in the mountains as well as Helman Ghorst. In less than ten turns the ultimate endgame crisis will spawn, sending stacks of dwarves, vampires and whatever else will spawn my way. However, I got a very good economy going already, so it won't be that much of a problem.

So, yeah, Cathay is still easy mode and it's pretty fun.

That's why I can't update this forum software, in fact. Something weird with the files and current version, so when it tried to update to a newer version, a few years ago when everything was screwed up for a day, and also change to the newer php version, it broke. Glad you figured it out! And yeah, no updates, basic installation, that's what I tend to do as a matter of principal with software. I was hanging out with an old friend last weekend (first friend I ever had, reconnected only this year), and we talked about how dealing with jank hard/software as kids made us capable of *theoretically* fixing a lot of problems, or at least knowing how to look for solutions, whereas modern stuff is so polished and locked down, you cannot possibly cultivate that same kind of mindset without intentional exposure to archaic material.

I hear that. Food alone is basically doubled, work is barely better than it was during COVID, so every penny matters. Don't have high hopes for the future either. On the plus side, people always need music.

Well, I only played one defense, aside from the bastion, which is very defendable. The one non-bastion I played, Villitch attacked with half a stack and I thought it was doable, so I went for it with the garrison. Villitch approached from two sides, so I split my forces as well and the two entries both had a ramp (good) and two nearby towers with good sight on the ramps (excellent). I won that defense by the skin of my teeth, because Villitch for some reason is super durable, as were the Aspiring Champions who came with the other group. But win I did.

The bastions are easily defendable. You start with a minimum of 1500 supplies and if you place four certain barricades (two at the rear to the second main victory point, two also at the rear on the side approaches to the first main victory point) the enemies will always funnel themselves on the first main victory point from two sides. Build the two towers there and just position your army to cover left and right, with the archers on the ramp behind them. Also leave some expendable units on the main walls to activate the towers, so the invaders lose a sizeable chunk of their army on the approach to the walls. I think I only lost once, when two entire armies attacked the bastion and I didn't have anything but the garrison there.

It's very interesting. I can see some glaring issues right away, and it made me laugh that "The Danes will produce multiple times more energy than they need, so they'll sell it cheap!" was an idea. Why sell it all? Give it away! No one is producing it, or lays claim to natural forces, and whatever maintenance might as well be done by government given these islands will absolutely require military protection.

Started playing Pokemanz: Archeus. Bit hard to see on the Switch Lite my friend gave me. Really need to get new glasses, been squinting for over a year now. But it's really fun! Romantic, a bit. Can already see where it's going to be fairly repetitive, though the central loop is strong, but would lay the ground for a bigger sequel. Caught the alpha cricket tho, so I'm happy. 8D

Hard to say. Us larger lads can fluctuate quite a few pounds on any given day with water weight alone, so it's more the average of a time period I go by, full vs empty stomach, etc. But the point is you _did_ keep losing weight, roughly a 25,000 calorie (rounding up) deficit! Can always improve that, but it's more about sustainable habits than going super hard. Keep it up!

50 pounds is amazing! Super congratulations! Losing more weight in the beginning is easier because of lots of reasons, one being water weight, another being that there's simply more weight to loose. The body also fights it as it realizes it's loosing the energy storage that fat is, so unfortunately it's going to be a harder the more weight you loose. It looks like a (logarithmic scale?) that quickly shoots down then evens out the further you go. Then again, we're all different so your body may act differently. Plus you're still loosing more than a pound a week which is still excellent results. Keep it up, keep it up, keep it up! Don't stop, don't ever let yourself stop. You have a good routine going for you Maz.

Looks like they tweaked the dragon models beyond just giving them fresh coats of paint and richer textures; much bigger forelimbs, shorter necks, smaller and stockier bodies, etc.

Hard to say. Us larger lads can fluctuate quite a few pounds on any given day with water weight alone, so it's more the average of a time period I go by, full vs empty stomach, etc. But the point is you _did_ keep losing weight, roughly a 25,000 calorie (rounding up) deficit! Can always improve that, but it's more about sustainable habits than going super hard. Keep it up!

Yeah. Once I am healed up form my TBD umbilical hernia surgery I will be able to add some more exercise in that will hit that deficit harder.
I really think that this hernia has been the wakeup call I needed to get this shit sorted. Which is good.

I fully realize that the just calorie deficit method will eventually start showing diminishing returns to the point that it WILL take more exercise. Just waiting for that day and then to decide what to add in.
If I am down to just 6lbs a month for a while then that's honestly still fine as that was the assumed number for when I first started, all my calculations were for about 1.5lbs a week lost when first starting with myfitnesspal so now that it's taken 5-6 months to get to there with an extra boost is still great!
So if in the best case scenario I kept "only" getting 6lbs loss each month then I'll still be down to 230-ish lbs by this time next year, which is bloody fantastic!

The Life of Maz is looking up! Can't have it all, but you're tangibly improving, and that's mighty respectable. A regular client of mine, wonderful guy, but he's in his late 50's, and he's suffering terribly from life-long weight problems, can't even bend his knees anymore, needs multiple surgeries, when he should instead be savoring the fruits of his labor, and finishing out funding his pension. Glad you got on this early!
