"Tron: Ares, the third installment in the Tron film series, is moving forward at Disney. Jared Leto, who has championed the project since 2017, will star in the feature with frequent Disney collaborator Joachim Rønning in talks to direct. The script is penned by Jesse Wigutow and will follow 2010’s Tron: Legacy. Sean Bailey and Sam Dickerman are the execs. The producers are Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Jeffrey Silver, and Leto’s Paradox partner Emma Ludbrook."

Hum. I love Tron, so excited for another movie (if it happens, these projects sadly often disappear in the ether, see "We are getting another Dredd movie!" from a few months ago), but I really liked the old cast and getting a completely new one would kinda suck. Not to mention that the walking meme Leto is the main character.

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
Finally got a few more movies off my to-watch-list:
Avatar 2 is... ok-ish. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. 7 out of 10. I'll go more at length about its pros and cons at a later time; I'm curious if a second viewing would make me grade it higher or lower, but that'll have to wait for it come out on streaming or physical release. It just made over 2 billion the other day, so clearly there's an audience for this, even after 13 years.
I wasn't planning on seeing Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, but good word of mouth convinced me to give it a try, and I gotta say, the hype surrounding this film is real. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun. One of the best animated films to come out in a long while. Kudos to the animation team, who created something that's like a hybrid between a traditional Dreamworks movie and more modern fare like Arcane or Sony's Spider-Verse. Very memorable and entertaining characters and rich themes to go along with them.
I went into The Menu expecting a psychological thriller or straight up horror, but what I got instead was actually a very, very dark comedy. It certainly has thriller and horror elements, but that’s just to give the narrative some spice. At first I was disappointed with this revelation, but as the film went along I saw what the story was going for, and by the time the ending rolls around, I thought it was a great choice to go that route, as there’s one moment that’s brilliant in its bold and brazen execution that in any other context probably wouldn’t work and come across as ridiculous or tediously pretentious, but absolutely works here. But like I said, the humor to be found here is black as pitch, so if that kind of amusement doesn’t connect with you, then you’re probably better off giving this a pass, but if your brand of humor gets dark then its worth a watch. Ralph Fiennes does an excellent job portraying a character that’s both a pitiable, sad, broken man and an intimidating, vengeful madman at the same time.
Del Toro’s Pinnachio was a movie I liked, but I didn’t love, despite me really wanting to. This would have been better off as a series, instead of a film, in order to give it better pacing and flesh things out. Also, the songs were pretty lame and could have been cut. The film struggles a bit in what it wants to be, and like I said, giving it a longer format would have done wonders. I understand what del Toro was going for, but I think this interpretation needs more time to cook. In any case, much better than the trashy live-action Disney remake that came out recently.
Troll is a love letter to numerous giant monster films both recently and from decades past. If movies like King Kong, Kong: Skull Island, Gorgo, and 20 Million Miles to Earth are your speed, then give this a try. Kaiju fans will spot all the references and homages. And it's refreshing to see a giant monster movie set in Europe; don't often see that in this genre.
Violent Night is Die Hard and Home Alone fused together, but with the addition of Santa going full John Wick on a bunch of mercenaries. If that premise has you sold, then go see it and have a good time. If not, I might have to question your sense of fun.

"DC Studios | Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters:
Creature Commandos: An animated seven episode series, written by Gunn, that is already in production. Originally a team of classic monsters assembled to fight Nazis, this is a modern take on the concept. The voice actors have yet to be cast but the executives are looking to find people who can voice the animated characters and also portray the live-action versions when the anti-heroes to show up in movies and shows.
Waller: A spin-off of Gunn’s own HBO Max hit series, Peacemaker, Viola Davis will return as the ruthless and morally ambiguous head of a government task force. It is being written by Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver, the creator of the Doom Patrol TV series.
Superman Legacy: The movie featuring the Man of Steel that Gunn is writing and may direct, although no commitments on that end have been made. While the two previous titles are meant to be “aperatifs,” in Safran’s words, Superman is the true kick off for the duo’s DCU plans. “It’s not an origin story,” Safran said. “It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks that kindness as old-fashioned.” A release date of July 11, 2025 has been penciled in.
Lanterns: Greg Berlanti’s long-in-the-works Green Lanterns TV series has been scrapped and the duo have parted ways with the longtime DC series steward. In its place will be a new take on the space cops with power rings. “Our vision for this is very much in the vein of True Detective,” Safran described. “It’s terrestrial-based.” It will feature prominent Lantern heroes Hal Jordan and John Stewart and is one of the most important shows they have in development. “This plays a really big role in leading into the main story we are telling across film and TV.”
The Authority: a movie based on a team of superheroes with rather extreme methods of protecting the planet that first originated in the late 1990s under an influential imprint known as Wildstorm, run by artist and now head of DC publishing, Jim Lee. “One of the things of the DCU is that it’s not just a story of heroes and villains,” said Gunn. “Not every film and TV show is going to be about good guy vs. bad guy, giant things from the sky comes and good guy wins. There are white hats, black hats and grey hats.” Added Safran: “They are kinda like Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men. They know that you want them on the wall. Or at least they believe that.”
Paradise Lost: The duo describe this HBO Max series as a Game of Thrones-style drama set on the all-female island that is Wonder Woman’s birthplace, Themyscira, filled with political intrigue and scheming between power players. It takes place before the events of the Wonder Woman films.
The Brave and the Bold: “This is the introduction of the DCU Batman,” said Gunn. “Of Bruce Wayne and also introduces our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch.” The movie will take inspiration from the now-classic Batman run written by Grant Morrison that introduced Batman to a son he never knew existed: a murderous tween raised by assassins. “It’s a very strange father-and-son story.” And, importantly, it will feature a Batman not played by Robert Pattinson…
Booster Gold: an HBO Max series based on a unique and lower-tiered hero created in 1986. Safran said of the series, “It’s about a loser from the future who uses basic future technology to come back to today and pretend to be a superhero.” Gunn described it as “imposter syndrome as superhero.”
Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow: Taking its cues from the recent Tom King-written mini-series, this movie project promises to have a different take than what most think of when the idea of Superman’s cousin comes to mind. “We will see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, raised on a rock, a chip off of Krypton, and who watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life and then come to Earth. She is much more hardcore and not the Supergirl we’re used to.”
Swamp Thing: a horror film that promises to close out the first part of the first chapter."
Creature Commandos: Sounds fun. Always a fan of the "government run secret team made up of monsters" concept.
Waller: Not sold that Waller needs a whole tv show; as a character she works best in small doses in my humble opinion.
Superman Legacy: This could be the Superman movie we've all been hoping for.
Lanterns: Sounds interesting, and John Stewart is my favorite GL, so bonus points. Though I always think Lantern stories are best when they go out into space and explore the alien community of DC, so I hope the show doesn't stay on Earth forever.
The Authority: Never really cared for these guys, not interested. Though by all means, prove me wrong.
Paradise Lost: Has potential.
The Brave and the Bold: I really hate Damian Wayne, fuuuuuck. Give me the proper Bat-Family first before you throw that little shit-stain into the mix at least!
Booster Gold: Never really cared for Booster Gold, though I understand his appeal and why his fans like him. That being said, there are dozens and dozens of other characters that deserve more priority than him, yes?
Supergirl: Anything influenced by Tom King's writing makes me nervous right off the bat, to be honest. Not a fan of his work when he wrote for Batman, but I never read his Supergirl material. So fingers crossed.
Swamp Thing: If they nail this right, this could be great.
