That science officer is a cutey. Facial animation is indeed a bit wonky. The idea of a science officer with sex-hair, a tan, and a Scottish accent, tickles me.

The animations and the general look of most faces are weak, bland, and kinda dead looking.

Hoping the cinematic delays during the galaxy map parts can be expedited.

Really digging the jetpack. Zipping around is much nicer than the Shepard trot.

Squaddie with the least amount of lines has more than the one with the most in ME3. Anyone know off hand who that was?

Well, there's Peebee's intro. Those facial animations, ooph. They tried though. There's far more expressiveness, for better or worse. And she, at least from that clip, wasn't nearly as annoying as Sera. She's weird, but she didn't piss me off, so that's a good sign.

I doubt it's Javik, since he has something to say during/after almost every mission after he has recovered from the cryo-sleep.

Also: Item found: Turian calibration coil.

I see what you did there.

Yeah, the facial animations seems to be rather inconsistent. Sure, it's a pretty big improvement in terms of expression when compared to the trilogy, but it seems to be either too little or too much at times.

As for Peebee, I didn't mind her either. She tried to be helpful instead of...whatever the fuck Sera tried to do when I first met her. That alone is a huge leap on the Not-annoying-me scale.

Its definitely not EDI.

Its most likely Tali. Consider how late game she is.

Lotta callbacks, I'm sure. They had Blasto's in one of the abandoned hab houses.

@SWM: The sexy Scottish lady, it was alright, though her lips were freaking out at times. Peebee though, man, that rigging was some uncanny valley stuff. Maybe on my screen it'll look better. But at least they're taking the step, because it can only get better with time.

Yeah. The tackle and mount was cheesy, but I liked it. Face aside, she seemed more weird than retarded, and so I'm pleased. Though I managed to tolerate Sera riiiiight up until she QT interrupted me and killed that nobleman while I was talking to him. That was the end of that experiment.

*eye twitch*

It's not Scottish...
It's Irish.

She fails at a scottish accent.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see them blink nearly enough either.

Also, this isn't some crappy anime where your eyes make up 30% of your head. You're allowed to have relaxed eyes. Really, it looked like the eyes were seconds from popping out of their skulls at times.

Maybe they tried to do something similar as they did with Wrex in ME1 where if you bring him along to take down Fist, he whips out his shotgun and blows the guy away without any word. Then again, that was mostly me totally forgetting about the little detail of Wrex being hired to kill Fist while I was shooting up Chora's Den. Had only myself to blame on that one.

The difference.

Wrex waits till you stop talking.

And warns you ahead of time.

And isnt being completely pentulent about it.

"SHYTE BULLOCKS WE GOTS TA KILL'EM NOBLE PRICK WANKER BREECHES!!!"

@Maz: I'll be honest here. Bioware emptied out the UK for their voice actors apparently, and I am going to be mixing them up.

@SWM: Yes. In the sideshots, the lack of blinking isn't as unsettling, but head on, it's almost threatening. People don't stare like that.

@Theo: I just did that scene the day before last. He does in fact give fair warning he's going to kill Fist, and he does wait until it's pretty clear I'm done with him. The point being that Fist wasn't a potential asset like the noble was, and that Wrex waited, and also that I didn't have to tell him multiple times to shut the fuck up and stop interrupting while the grown ups are talking.

So I'm glad Peebee does not appear to be anything like that thus far.

The Kett look like Shadow of Mordor orks. In spaaaaaace!

*edit* Oh, oh wow. Those facial animations are embarassing after The Witcher 3. Actually, so are the body animations. Man, that does look stiff.

I'm real curious as to the diversity of enemy types.

Kett, the Brute looking thing, presumably some of those male-lians, humans, the other Milky Wayers, and probably some robots.

Seems like it might be fairly high for an ME game, actually.

Mine, I don't have one as I am in the south of England.

EDIT: Well, technically town in Suffolk colloquially known as "the tractor boys", but that is more to do with a football association than anything else.

I don't know, man, is the Frostbite engine incapable of doing good facial animations or are the devs really not that good?

Looking at ME1 right now, you can see that it's a conscious art choice. Big eyes, big lips, but minimal movement. They're trying to transition that style into a new engine, and with more movement. So I think it's a little bit of everything.

To be honest, at the little I've seen from the trailers, ME 3 facial animations actually seemed better (at least to me)... and that is really, truly embarassing for BioWare, if I'm not totally off my rocker in my opinion.

I'll let you know as I progress through the games, but I think it's an uncanny valley effect. The old models were jank, but were stylized enough to not look too realistic.

First one, it looks like they're trying to do rapid, nervous emoting. Second, it seems like a squint but the rig is over-emoting. Which should be fixable.
