So High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen and Skaven. Nice! Weird thei're calling it TW Warhammer II, when it's supposed to be an expansion though... probably just so they can sell it full price, like they did with Attila Total War. Oh well.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Man, just broke my favorite shitty mug I've had for years. Oh well.

@Mob: I find not having safety bars helps. The fear of death if that bar doesn't go back up helps the weakness in the body go away long enough to for another rep. Or at least the roll of shame.
@Alien: Yeah, the title isn't a wise move. Probably should've made it clear it's the 2nd of 3. But hey, making these armies is fucking expensive, and I'm okay with them charging for it, it's not like a yearly cash bilk.
Also this'll be the comedy entry. Slann = Pepe, Skaven = dark comedy ahoy.

I'll admit... if you give me a well made game where I can play a faction of dinosaur people riding dinosaurs, I'd play full price for it and be thankful. So I'm definately NOT complaining, since it's almost certainly what we're getting.
Honestly Lizardmen vs Skaven is gonna be the interesting part of it. I don't really give a damn about the pointy-eared assholes. I'll take 40k Eldar over Fantasy Elves every day.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Eyyyy, some nerds dug into some legal filings Obsidian did for the Pillars 2 campaign, and apparently they're working on a Tyranny DLC too. That's cool. I'm supposed to get a 50% off coupon on the game for being a backer of Pillars 2, so once I get it, I'll see if anyone here wants it. Good game, solid.
@Alien: Dinosaur people who ride dinosaurs with giant toad supermage overlords who try to figure out the plan of supreme beings of unknown unknownness who've been MIA forever basically. They're cool.
Also Skaven! The biggest assholes in the setting. Implication seems to be the plague clan. High Elves, I don't give a shit about, but I might do Dark Elves if they're interesting. And given they're joining the maps with TW1, if you own it, seems like Tomb Kings will be a DLC pack at some point for this one.

Yeah, the High Elves are boring. The Dark Elves are ok, but not as interesting as their 40k counterparts. Lizardmen are always cool. Skaven are neat and hilarious.
But where are the undead legions of my boy Nagash? Hurry up with that Tomb Kings DLC! The Undying King will have his day! The guy whom Gamesworkshop themselves describes as "The Greatest Villain in the Warhammer World" (and rightly so!) needs his time in the spotlight!

Well, Lustria, Warhammer's South Ameirca, WAS invaded by the Pestilence Skaven clan, so I'm gonna go on a whim and presume thei're gonna be the main Skaven faction. Then maybe they'll do one or two of the main old world clans that had beef with the dwarves and the empire as variations. Assuming the Skaven aren't just the preorder DlC faction, like Chaos Warriors were. Which seems to be a possibility, sadly.

It's been confirmed that, later after launch, the game is gonna include a bigger world map that can house of all the factions so far introduced in both games, and there will be the Tomb Kings region as well. So it's possible they'll show up. Worst case scenario, they're gonna be one of the main factions of the last game in the trilogy, I'd guess.

Eh. The later seasons of Archer really go off the rails in order to come up with plots. Season 3 is the start, the finale is of the walls, and then it goes crazier. Like the whole Pam coke addiction thing.

Sweet blubbering christ, I swear the higher level classes are easier than the freshman courses. What was supposed to be a 3 page chapter summary turned into an 8 pager, simply because the professor wanted a detailed summary. I can't summarize an entire chapter on Prison Systems in 3 fucking pages. I can, however, bang it out in an hour, because I know the material.
Still...All of this for a 1.5 point bump in my grade...Christ.

There's something almost humbling about watching the mounting screw from your GPU fall into your PSU, I probably shouldn't have been fucking around inside of a computer when I was knackered in the first place anyway.

Something I've been meaning to ask others for a while. When you're playing a game, or listening to a movie, do you consciously notice the music? Because I often see people talking about how so-and-so track during so-and-so moment was so good, or bad, and I realize that I don't hear the music at all. Unless it's incredibly noteworthy, like some of Halo's tracks, or Ilos, The Thing's heavy beats, that sort. The rest seem to fail to reach my ear, and I'm not sure if I'm unique in that.

I notice the music. DOOM's soundtrack is especially noteworthy, but games like Ace Combat, Metal Gear Solid, and certain Mass Effect tracks get me all jacked up and good to go.

Well, it all comes down to how the composer improves the mood, I guess.
I mean, it's been over three years and I'm still listening to Red Sun from time to time simply because it's more than just ambient music.

Mostly I do, as over the years listening to games and movies' sountrack has become a thing I particularly like to do, but usually out of an whole soundtrack I find about 4 or 5 pieces of music I'm fond enough to listen multiple times and outside of the game. So it's not that I don't noticed the music, but only a fraction of it usually leaves an impression on me.

I do.
Music is one of the foundation pillars of any good game/movie in my eyes. Music is one of the best tools for setting tone, mood, atmosphere, and giving individual scenes/levels/characters an identity and feel. If the music isn't doing its job well it becomes very noticeable. A clash that disrupts the immersion.
A game or movie can stand on its own with a mediocre soundtrack if it shines in other areas, certainly, but a good or great soundtrack helps elevate it even further, and a poor one can really ruin the enjoyment.
Metroid Prime would still be a fantastic game if you took away the music, but why would anyone want to since its so amazing? It part of the game's DNA.
On the other side of things, some games/movies/tv shows have no soundtrack at all, and that's fine. Some stuff does work better with no music, in addition to that being an artistic choice done deliberately. No Country for Old Men has virtually no music and is all the more powerful because of it.
I listen to movie and game soundtracks all the time, so maybe I notice these things more.

It's something that I have to turn on and off sometimes. There are times I don't notice any music until the second time watching a movie. Others I'm following the score all the way throughout. Best time is when I discover it in the middle of something, like the underwater level in Halo 2.
I studied a lot of Jerry Goldsmith's music for my own scoring lessons and he mentioned how he viewed the purpose of the music, which was to back up the emotions behind what you're seeing and if gets in the way of the scene then it's not serving it's purpose. Like the music in The Shannara Chronicles, it was so much in the way it's too uncomfortable to watch.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
The woman who sits in the cubicle next to me's husband just died. About a month after another woman a few aisles down. Just another reminder that I've never lost anyone close to me to death before. Lost my mom's dad when I was 10 and I cried because it was the first time and then 6 years later her mom died but I wasn't hurt so much about her death than I was at how it hurt my mom. But looking back they weren't really close. We lived on the other side of the country and I only have records of seeing them maybe less then 5 times ever. None of my close friends have died, none of my close family. Friends of friends, family of friends, friends of family, but never anyone close. I've been to funerals and I know that I've been fortunate, but trying to prepare for the time when I actually am hit close to home has been on my mind for many many years now. I try to appreciate the moment, feel alive with another human being, but I'm trying to build a life for myself and I won't get there if I don't do the work I need to do. Sigh, trying to stay positive and keep my gaze forward on the future.

I remember waiting years for this to happen, now it's been almost two since New Horizons flew by Pluto. Damn.
Now it's half way to it's next target, KBO 2014 MU69. Maybe they'll come up with a better name. Read here.

@Sci: Apparently in the next few days, a bunch of labs are supposed to work together to photograph a black hole for the first time. Something about the event horizon and accretion disc and radiation. You heard about this?

There's something particularly frustrating about watching a family member ignore all medical advice and slowly doom themselves to an early death out of sheer simple-minded stubbornness.

I have seen the end of that road twice in a very short amount of time.

Haven't hear about that. I imagine the visible image will just be a couple of duplicate stars, but the infrared or radio image will be interesting. I'll look it up.

In the past month.
Plumbing backed up.
Water heater ruptured.
Grandfather died.
And now, Electrical sparks coming from one of the outlets in my house.
I am really, really starting to lose my patience.

Its better than an apartment. It just seems like everything went wrong at once.
I wish I had the money to have all the old guts removed and replaced with newer, better hardware, but its just not in the cards right now.
