Having a truly evil person on the team does make things more interesting, but I'm a little sad the tradeoff is Buu. Unless Freeza gets disqualified and Buu switches out later on.

You know... I hated the idea.

But I really am curious how much more Freeza we will see. I wouldn't mind having him a recurring character who isn't in a primarily villainous role.

Also given the Dragon Ball Z track record, Vegeta marries Bulma, 18 Marries Krillin, Buu marries Mr Satan. I think the logical conclusion is Freeza hooks up with someone on the cast.

Any guesses who? Yamcha maybe?

Toryama sure does love to redeem his main villains and have them joining Goku's crew. Which is something I definately don't mind, in fact I like me a good redemption arc.

I doubt that's gonna work out with Freeza tho... but it's still gonna be a fun ride. Just think all the salt between him and the rest of the team, with Vegita and Piccolo especially... it's gonna be hilarious! And yes... same could have applied with Cell as well, especially with the Androids and Gohan in there too. But once again... Freeza's Toryama big favorite, and most definately the most markeatable of the unredeemed baddies. Plus he's actually got a power-boosts that puts him on the same level as the rest of the bunch, while Cell has been rotting in hell this whole time.

I am also honestly surprised they jsut didnt' all bundle into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and just continuously bludgeon each other to death/close to it for Zenkai boosts.

Like, seriously Saiyans have the most insane trump card from a loss.

Yeah, the DBZ movies are for the most part to be considered non-canon, they just don't fit. Therefore Broly doesn't exist in the Z or Super timelines, but we're getting FemBroly to make up for that.

Yeah, Freeza is so utterly evil, I wouldn’t buy a redemption arc for him. Temporary alliance out of pragmatism while he plans his own agenda, ok, but anything else would feel out of character for me. 18, 17, Fat Buu, Vegeta and Piccolo's evolution as characters made sense given their backgrounds; Freeza is a monster with no sympathetic, noble, or honorable traits whatsoever. And if anything, he's only gotten worse since his duel with Goku on Namek.

Agreed. But generally speaking, while Cell is the most popular villain in the USA, Freeza reigns everywhere else in the fandom, and is the creator’s favorite, and is the most well known. Since Cell has both Freeza’s and Goku’s DNA, he potentially could become stronger than both them and reach a truly amazing god-like level, but there isn’t enough time before the tournament for Cell to do that, whereas Freeza already has his golden form that can go toe-to-toe with SSB. So I understand why he remains the top choice from the defeated villains pile.

We’ve had Freeza come back twice now in canon, Fat Buu got redemption, and Kid/Pure/Evil Buu got reincarnated as a human. Cell is the only remaining DBZ Big Bad that hasn’t returned in some fashion. Hopefully Mr. Perfect Cell gets a comeback. Fingers crossed.

Goku implied in the Cell Saga that too much continuous time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber starts doing more harm than good, and you stop gaining and are "just torturing yourself". Its why even though Vegeta and Trunks went through the Chamber twice, both were still weaker than Goku at the time of the Cell Games. To get the maximum benefit, you have to space out the sessions, it seems. Probably why they tend to use it for emergencies.

Why they don't do that in real-time on Earth… good question. Its one of things that was important when it was a plot point, but then kinda gets forgotten until the plot demands it again.

In Super, Vegeta seemingly blew up the Hyperbolic Time Chamber--or at least the doorway to it--when he was doing some quick training to get stronger to fight Goku Black/Zamasu. Whether or not Mr. Popo and Dende repaired it, or if that’s even possible, remains to be seen.

Piccolo also blew up the entrance to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in the Buu saga so it must be rebairble either that or it was an oversight.
