ALAN WAKE TO BE REMOVED FROM STORES BECAUSE OF EXPIRING LICENSES
It's on sale right now, 90% off, so if you want a good game for very little money, now is your chance.

Damn, Alan Wake is legitimately a hidden gem. At least to me, I loved the atmosphere and setting and plot. Gameplay wasn't perfect, but it was good enough.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
It's Mother's Day, boys and girl. Hallmark holiday, but hey. If you were lucky enough to have a good one, let her know it.

I still haven't played.
Might buy a copy off of CDkeys Tomorrow.
I know Quantum Break gives you a copy when you buy it and that's when I planned on doing so. but I kinda lost all the interest in that game and probably won't buy it anytime soon.
Actually, now that I remember it. I still need to play the other alan wake game. I forget what it called but I have it.

First major update for Dawn of War 3 is coming next week. Is it new playable units? Some decent improvement into the current game's balance that doesn't make feel anything but the heroes as strong as toilet paper? A new game mode?
LOL NO! It's the implementation of Leaderboards! And some very minimal factions balance.
Can we put DoW into "hiatus" too and pretend the third game didn't happen at all?

Was watching a documentary on the guy who dug up the site of Troy last night and it got me in the mood to play Age of Mythology. I downloaded that expansion pack based on ancient Chinca that came out a year or so ago. Eh... Oh well, the core game is still fun at least.

Here comes the super-Space Marines! Wonder what the other factions will get to counter this big bad boys... so far it's been confirmed that Chaos is getting new half-daemon marines of similar strenght and skills, the rest of the bunch, is unknown. I guess they could just buff the stats of some already existing units in some cases... for example the Tyranid Warriors and Carnifexes right now are pretty much worthless game-wise...

So, roughly how tough are these guys? Terminators? Grey Knights? Minotaurs?

I used to think that, but i think it would be hard to have a true "gaming crash" now just as it would be hard to have a true "movie crash".

Yeah, there is a definite lull in the gaming market and a lull in creativity.
I don't think the reasonings this guy brings up are as influential as he think, or at least not as influential without the lull of creativity.
Microtransations and DLC are a problem in some areas. His example of Overwatch isn't one of them as the Microtransactions in that game are purely cosmetic. Their method of acquisition is not limited to only paying and there is a chance to get everything through play. It just takes time.
And that is one of the reasons Microtransactions and boost packs and DLC, especially the pay to win variety, exist in the first place. Not everyone has the time to sink hours a day into a game. A lot of the gaming audience are young adults-middle aged who have grown up with the media and don't have the time to play as they used to. So there is no shame with them using the money they earn to get more experience out in their eyes. Or at least that is how it is in a business sense.
And the comment on Call of Duty at around 08:50 are purely subjective points as he is comparing a game he didn't want to play to a game he did, both having different focuses, one more MP driven, the other more SP. He says "a MP no-one in their right mind would play", yet that's the exact thing most of the buyers of CoD play for, the campaign is secondary, where they get their hours of play is the MP. Comparing the time spent in the Witcher to the almost months people spend playing CoD, even at it's base level without the new maps and guns brought out after is still way more than the Witcher, or any purely SP game. So the focus is a little off there.
In ME:A's microtransaction defense, they're also entirely optional. You can acquire everything, you just have to put in the time. If the greatest criticism is to be found is "because I don't enjoy these games and don't feel like putting the time in, my worth for this optional content I am not getting, and would never use as I am not playing the game in the first place, escalates to the point where I don't want them to be in the game I'm not playing" then honestly they're not the reason for this crash. They're a symptom, sure. But not the cause.
We'll need to treat the cause and honestly with this guy it's the case of not having enough fun to spend the time getting all he wants where things are optional.
If it's a microtransation you can not get by simply playing the game, then this guy has a point, and only then.
TBH most of the problems come from a lack of creativity and burn-out from franchise-ification. Some just need to take a step back, evaluate where they are and rebuild from there, maybe listen to the indie market for some ideas and go from there.
There is a need to shake things up and it is needed desperately, but throwing out a decent method of keeping the studio funded post release with art based projects from the art team, nah, that's not the be-all and end all fix. There is a burn-out happening, but a full crash wont happen.

I had considered getting into this game, it looked interesting.
Downside is I'd need a good team to play with.

Nothing major, but my work is voting to change our work hours from ten 8 hour work days a pay period to nine 9 hour work days with one of those days being an 8 hour day. This all means I get a three day weekend every other week, which is a huge benefit for me. I hope this passes.

Bleh. Pass.
Video game movies generally suck ass, so I don't need the lite version of that. Not to mention that it's The Witcher.

I work at a medical billing office. You know, neutral colored cubicles, Dilbert comics next to the watering thing, "It's Monday" jokes, ugh! I process clinical visits all day, so as long as all my work is submitted by 4pm it doesn't matter how early I start my day. Right now I work 8am to 4:30pm with a 30 min lunch. It could change to 7am to 4:30, with a 30 min lunch. So I work an extra hour four days a week and get a day back every other week. To me that's an extra 24 hours I get to focus on my music studio work. (Happy face).

"Don't flake out of Calculus your senior year just because it's a zero hour class."
"Get a part time job at 16 and keep it."
"Don't worry about being an extreme introvert. You will learn to be happy with yourself."
"You are not significantly smarter than most people. And even if you are, most of the world doesn't care. Nobody will give you anything just because you think you are smart."
"Don't major in history but in engineering, computer science, IT, or some other technical program that doesn't require further education to have decent job potential. If you hate it, it's easier to reboot into the humanities later than into tech or hard science. Hobbies require money; most hobbies won't make money."
Oh and "If a game series looks interesting, play it now. It's way harder to come back and get into a series once its 10+ years old."
