So we've joined the Reapers to fight the Specters...
The DLC also has voice overs from Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), Jonathan Frakes (Commander Riker), Michael Dorn (Worf), Brent Spiner (Data), and even Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar).
The guys at Firaxis are nerds and I love them. They're my favorite developer right now because they clearly love what they do.

Wait, which characters do Brent Spiner and Denise Crosby voice? I know that Marina Sirtis voices Elena Dragunova (ha, rifle puns) and Michael Dorn is Pratal Mox. Pretty sure Jonathan Frakes voices the leader of the Reapers too.

Correct!
Denise Crosby voices Betos, the faction leader for the Reapers, and Brent Spiner voices Geist, the leader of the Templars.

Data became a cult leader after being one of the first Psi Operatives when XCOM fell. Love it.

So, Shadow of War will have microtransactions to get in-game boosts for the single player. I don't know how to feel about that. On the one hand, the devs could make the game too grindy in an attempt to get players to buy progress, OTOH they could not. I guess we all have to wait until the game releases to see how much it really impacts enjoyful gameplay.
Angry Joe and YongYea lost their shit over this and I'm sure other YouTubers did as well, but I'm still looking forward to the title on the strength of the great gameplay of the first part and the setting as well.

I linked an article about that a few days ago.
But ehh I'll wait for the reviews, I don't have much money anyway might as well wait to hear what people say about the game before buying it.

Got sexy Widow, sexy McCree, beach dad 76, cute Sombra, and enough coins to buy Greek goddess Mercy if I feel like it. I win the event without having to play a game, go me.

Right until they add more skins in the next event. Or when this event is over and the skins/emotes feel out of place or not as attracting as they used to be.
When I was in college, it was the exact same routine with World of Warcraft. I didn't play it, but everyone else did and wouldn't shut up about it. They'd add something new like a limited edition pet or an event or whatever, which would draw in people that were previously burned out on it for about a months or so. Which also gives Blizzard money because of the whole subscription thing. Rinse and repeat. The game itself rarely changes on a big scale, but it won't matter as long as the fluff is there. They're not even trying to hide it either.
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

I was already on the fence about the game, since it looks like it suffers from the same problem as the first game by being a little too repetitive in the overall gameplay.
Now I'll definitely hang back and wait for other people to voice their opinion about it. Rarely does a microtransaction in a game like this work out without turning it into a tedious grind.

Looking at the name of the skin, I feel like there's a joke to be made in there somewhere...
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Sexy Widow skin, new Mr. Plinkett review, half day of work, Risky Boot modes in 1/2 Genie Hero is almost out...today is going too well. The karmic balance is off.

It's the Coast of Azure, also known as the French Riveria.
Lifeguard McCree is almost as good as the American Flag McCree.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Just read an article on the War of the Roses, the English war between the Lancasters and Yorks for the throne. Before that incident was a period of instability called The Anarchy which started after a ship called The White Ship crashed and killed the heir of Henry I along with knights, nobles and influential people. If I could change one thing in history, it would be interesting to see how different everything would be if that ship never crashed.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Trying to think what mine would be other than obvious low-hanging fruit of Hitler dies at birth type stuff.
If horses didn't go extinct in the Americas would probably be an interesting one. If China kept sending out exploratory ships past Zheng He would be another. Or if George III had agreed to let the colonies have reps in Parliament would be yet another.

there is a youtube channel that makes video about those kind of what if scenarios (although he hasn't dealt with that scenario yet) called Alternatehistoryhub.
I find them quite interesting.

I would like to see what would have happened if Japan hadn't attacked Pearl Harbor. The US would probably still have joined the war, but it would have been an interesting development to see.
Alternative, I'd take Leonardo da Vinci perfecting his flying machine. Humans making working airplanes hundreds of years before the Wright brothers.

Yea doubly so if Hitler didn't bother with Britain and focused on Russia. We might not have joined then. Other than the British mainland getting invaded or US possessions being bombed/invaded, I don't know that we would have. All of mainland Europe being taken was not enough to get us to enter.
I still think Russia would have eventually ground him to paste, just too many people and too much territory, but not having to fight on two fronts would have helped him.
Japan probably would have been left alone to create an Asian empire though. I doubt they could keep it indefinitely but it certainly would have put China on a completely different path.

We should have gutted the Soviets after they exhausted their usefulness in Berlin.

I like the split in cheers and disappointment. People who genuinely might want that game, people who're being polite, and then people being honest in chorus. It's more interesting than straight boos or all clapping (I'm looking at you, E3).
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Hearthstone, Gwent, even Bethesda has jumped on this new trend. I'm not entirely sure I approve of digital card games.
Except for Gwent. I'm fond of it.

I can definitely see the appeal in both real and digital card games and the digital kind has been around since the 90's, but to me, it'll always be a mini-game when compared to other video games, so I can also understand people's disappointment.
Goddamn, that makes me nostalgic for the proper RPG days.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
So I just heard that esports are possibly going to be a part of the Olympic games in Paris 2024. That just sounds stupid to me. That's like letting people compete with cars in marathons.
Not to mention that it sounds a little insulting to the people that train their bodies daily and spend a good part of their lives practicing for a sport and events like the Olympics, while some chubby chump can get a medal just for playing Starcraft.
Also, I personally think that esports are incredibly boring to watch. More so than regular sports.

Widowmaker is top tier, every year.
Now if only she was actually good in game for the people who aren't flickshot gods.

If only Overwatch wasn't a goddamn MP only game. Maybe then I'd have some interest other than Mei's EXTRA THICCness or Widowmaker's everything.

The biggest problem I have with the game (aside from not feeling nearly as fresh as it did a year ago) is that after a while, you get paired up with people who feel like they're playing it daily to sharpen their skills and be more competitive and all that shit while I'm just casually playing it every now and then.
That's also one of its biggest flaws. It tries to be competitive and casual at the same time, but the two don't mix well at all because they're pretty much complete opposites of each other and one often starts to bleed into the other. You either get the fucknuts that just throw matches for the lolz in competitive or the tryhards that exploit the meta to the max in regular matches and neither is fun to experience.
The saddest thing is that Overwatch also has a great potential for a story mode.
