I finally finished season 1 of My Hero Academia. I very much enjoyed it. I like the world it sets up, and many of the characters and powers are very interesting. I hope some of the secondary and tertiary characters get more spotlight in later seasons. Deku is a likable protagonist, though I hope he learns to cry less as he grows into his power and confidence. Bakugou is a fucking asshole, a true narcissist, a borderline sociopath, and one bad day from going full super-villain. All Might is awesome.

I also watched season 1 of Drifters. If you liked Hellsing Ultimate, you'll probably like this. Its basically popping real life historical figures into a fantasy world filled with your standard orcs, goblins, dragons, elves, dwarves, etc., and having them try to conquer it. Oda Nobunaga, Hannibal, Scipio, Butch Cassidy, Sundance Kid, Joan of Arc, Gilles de Rais, Rasputin, and more all show up. A lot of the characters are selfish and ruthless anti-heroes, some outright evil SOBs, but they have a charisma that makes them compelling. It doesn't shy away from the ugly side of warfare and empire-building, and it also really goes into the details of tactics and strategy. Oda Nobunaga is the biggest stand-out. He's brilliant and brutal, but also funny, and proudly boasts about being nicknamed things like "The Demon King of the Sixth Heaven", smiling and laughing at carnage the way Alucard does. He will conquer the world or die trying.

They way I've heard it explained, is that all the people on the END, or the bad guys to our protagonists, were all wronged by humanity. Joan of arc was burned alive, Anastasia was murdered,

It also has a kickass outro to go along with the people from the out of place people using machine guns against dragons and orcs. The main characters are far from good guys and I like how they're completely unrepentant about it too.

"He won’t be in the movie (unless it’s a very well-kept secret), but a certain black market dealer is returning for the Pacific Rim Uprising prequel comic. Santa Monica, 2034. In a city that was once the jewel of the west coast, a new world has emerged: one rising up from the ashes of giant robots and giant monsters. As tensions rise in this aftermath city, disgraced pilot Griffin has an explosive reunion in a Jaeger scrapyard; a dangerous figure from the past encounters the mysterious Sisters of the Kaiju; and Jake Pentecost takes one step closer to unlocking the key to his father’s past. The 6-part series is a gritty action adventure that explores a new criminal underworld born in an age of monsters and mechs, and an unmissable story for all Pacific Rim fans."

Hmm... can't quite tell what to make of the reviews of the new Godzilla anime movie. The two major complaints are that is not as good and original as Shin Godzilla... which I find highly fucking debatable... and that it feels like a setup of a bigger story... which is ALSO because of Shin Godzilla, as that damn movie did so well that Toho instead of doing a full anime series turned the Monster Planet project into a movie trilogy to have more Godzilla to put on the big screen.

So I can't quite tell if the movie is not all that good, or if it's just fanboys sucking Anno's dick again.

Let's just hope Netflix hurries up with the english version so I can verify what's going on by myself :P

Don't piss off 18.

Fucking finally. Ribrianne got knocked out.

17 and 18 were awesome, as usual. Good teamwork. That cybernetic infinite stamina really helps. 18 even pulled a Kratos-styled God of War finisher, minus the gore.

The love Krillin and 18 have is more true and pure than anything Universe 2 can muster! Suck it, U2.

////

Also, here's some interesting news. Via Word of God in some recent interviews, Android 21 from the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ game is proving to be so popular amongst the fans, Toei/Shueisha/Toriyama are considering possibly bringing her into the DBS anime/manga in the future, and make her canon. Among other things, this is probably the best opportunity we're ever going to get of possibly seeing the return of Android 16 or Cell in some fashion. Especially if 21 really is the wife of Dr. Gero. So fingers crossed!
