Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Red Letter Media put out their new episode on the new Blair Witch, plus that movie about the deaf guy and the kids invading his house.
To sum it up, in the new BW, they show the final scene from the original, in the house, with Josh in the corner. Remember that?
Right. Except now, they added loud, startling music to the scene when the girl gets knocked over. Because in 2016, horror is SUDDEN NOISE AAAAAAH.

I do wish they'd drop the fashion mini games in pokemon.
With contests it was bad enough but I really don't care about dressing up my trainer or my pokemon. I don't care about grooming them either. I just want to play the story, explore the world, have some simple fun battling, trading and all that jazz. These peripheral things just take up space that are honestly not needed IMO.
And don't get me started on these silly Z moves.
I don't need Dance Dance Poke-lution adding more bloody stat changes and move boosting and extra moves onto the already massively convoluted bullshit there is with mega evolutions, Abilities and type advantages. That's not even getting into the crap that is EV values that is almost mandatory to learn if you want to have a decent time battling with nearly anyone these days.
I mean is it just me or has Pokémon just bogged itself down with too much unnecessary crap lately?
I mean I am playing OmegaRuby and right now the only good thing I can think of that has been added is the slow moving poke-catcher mechanic, but that only gives a higher chance to find something specific, most of the time it's randomized by what is in that patch of grass/route anyway.
It's nearly as bad as Pokemon Go!

Well most of that stuff you just said is optional and the Z moves are just like mega evolution you push a button and you do a move you dont actually have to do anything unless you wanna compete hard. They are just changing it up so its different and not the exact carbon copy thing of the previous gives it a + in my book plus aloha forms for older pokemon I'm game.

Well true but that still takes development time away from doing what they could be doing.
Hell we've had a fresh idea for a new story for at least the handheld versions for years now. Make a game where you're the rival/join team rocket.
I don't mind the alola forms for pokemon that's fine, that's a change that alters the dynamic in fresh ways, changing up type advantages and disadvantages, actually playing to strategy rather than "push button and get stat boost" (which TBH is a really lazy change if it doesn't actually impact anything).
It's why I am actually looking forward to the alola forms as they're actually going to be common enough that you might not need to find the damn item to make it work in the first place.
But if they say you need to collect dances for this "game changer" then it's just going to get annoying.

Probably more like you get them from defeating the island rulers, I forget their names. I wouldnt say that takes away from developement time because most of that was in X and Y to be honest they just slightly changed the grooming bit. It's more or less a carbon copy of the clothing and grooming from X and Y with slight changes. I doubt that actually put super amount of time into it.

Well the fact it's put in at all takes away from the story to a certain extent, especially now they need to find a way to keep it "fresh" when it's not needed in the first place.
And only a couple of changes possible then?
There are gonna be below 10 islands/leaders, because they're just gym leaders let's not kid ourselves here, so either you can get the dance to switch something to a specific type with a specific dance or you're only going to be able to change a few like with Mega-evolutions.
My main downside to Mega's is that it only affected a few pokemon. If they introduced that mechanic but changed all end chain pokemon to get a mega form and you just needed to unlock the ability to go Mega that would have been much more fun.
I am also not a HUGE fan of the different forms for different day/night settigns in this go around.
Business wise I get why to have separate versions is to keep money coming in, I get that. But for this game (a game where the form of pokemon depends on if it is a day or a night type) is dependent on something the games have had since Gen2, a Day/Night cycle. Mechanically it makes no sense as to why the forms should not be in both games because both games have day and night. Unless there is a big explanation as to why it can not be it just seems odd to me.

I still don't it's taking that much time away from the story its probably like 2 people doing the grooming and clothes, an artist and a programmer.
As for the your last bit they have always done this and in all of them they dont make sense, because you roam the same area in both games but not all pokemon aren't not in the game itself. So honestly, none of it in any game makes sense it's probably there attempt to encourage social interaction with trading and etc.

Well the different verions haven't been dependant on a mechanic that is present in both games.
Most of the differences are with different legendaries and pokemon just being there but the ability to change them hasn't been given before now.
Before I wasn't dependent on if I was going to get a different pokemon based on if the sun was up or not AND it also being exclusive to one game. Now you're locked by essentially two things as even if it's night on Sun you can't get the moon/nighttime version of a pokemon, for whatever reason, even though nighttime is still a thing.
If it was based on a sun rock and a moon rock/ Sun Stone and Moon Stone it might have made a little more sense as they're tangible objects in the games, but the day and night always happen regardless making the limitation based on that in the versioning silly IMO.

Probably something with the sun rock and moon rock would make sense, but still you can just trade to get what you want with someone. Yeah it is kinda pointless but still I think what I said is probably why they do it.

Again I don't mind the fact there are different versions with different stuff in, I am just befuddled that it's based on the day/night cycle that both games have.
As far as me actually trading goes....yeah I don't have anyone to trade with, even if I wished to bother with it.

Possibly, if I was interested in trading to begin with.
The only reason would be to force the trade-only evolutions, like Golem, etc.

I've always hated those. I know it's to promote trading, but it always felt like it goes against the system too, since you're screwed if you don't have someone to trade with. It's like forcing someone to play a multiplayer game in order to achieve a complete singleplayer experience.

Counterpoint.
I filled 90% of the Pokedex by trading away Riolu's I bred in the Global Trade Center. If you ask for a pokemon, you can usually get it. There is no effort involved. You just drop a pokemon off, say what you want for it, and check back in a day.

Counterpoint, not everyone bothers to do that.
2nd Counterpoint, You should not have to go to the extent of doing that if you do not wish to.
3rd Counterpoint, despite it being your experience that does not mean everyone is looking for an equal trade. I could give a lvl 1 in trade for a lvl 30. Not fair to the recipient at all. I could one day find myself in a similar situation with the roles reversed.

Most people I have talked to were very happy to have trainer customization back, and were clamoring for its return after it was dropped in Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.
The "Dance moves", are like mega evolutions. And shake up the Viability of pokemon in competitive play. It will aid in keeping things fresh.
EV training is by no means necessary if you dont want to do competitive play. If you WANT to do competitive play, then as it turns out you need to work for it. Its called "Pokemon Training".
Every pokemon game has a catching aid gimmick, that usually doesnt work as well as just going out and searching for what you want. Or trading. Which is now easier than it has ever been.

Then you wont catch them all.
You dont have to! Then you wont Catch them All.
You can set your parameters. You can tell them you will trade your pokemon for any specific pokemon, set its general level, and set its gender. People use the GTC to fill the pokedex. Its a fair trade because parameters are set. You dont HAVE to use it. But you wont Catch them All.
Basically Mazdar. Pokemon games are a complex RPG. Stop bitching, and put in the effort.
That enough elaboration for you?

Well we shall put that one down to difference of opinion as them saying they want it back doesn't affect it's mechanical uses to the game. Some might like it, I find it unnecessary fluff.
Yes, but anyone who does any sort of training/battling with anyone over the net for their primary resource is pretty much pigeonholed into the competitive scene whether they like it or not as competitive rules are not able to be removed from the stats of a pokemon. One can train up the EV's of some pokemon and roll into any battles they want and wipe the floor with whomever they meet, regardless of if their opponent wished to partake in high complexity or not.
If I go into the public sphere with a team there is little to no guarantee I am going up against someone who has not EV trained, it's safer to assume they all HAVE. It's the exact same with Overwatch or any other game that breeds a competitive scene that can slum it into non-competitive whenever it feels like it. And that's not even taking into the account the potential hours I spent just leveling the pokemon up normally, let alone the extra work of EV's and all the other crap competitive players can roll out on any "normal" player. So I don't think it is terrible to assume that the EV training scene is an annoyance to be avoided that can get in the way of a normal player's fun.
Yes, and despite my love for it I can see the frustration in it, and surely you can too.
In my experience trading has not been made easier, more there is just access to more people doing it, and potentially more people to rip you off.
TheodoricFriede wrote:Then you wont catch them all.

And yet the game that states you can catch 'em all in a single copy doesn't practice this little slogan.
Yeah, you can catch 'em all, if you're willing to remove yourself from the game, hope someone wishes to trade with you for the meager few that can't be caught in the exact same regions, for whatever arbitrary reason.
I wouldn't mind if each game had a difference in region, thereby making trading an actual practice that is worth a damn instead of an arbitrary selection of what they're going to split out of the roster they have chosen for this game.
What if they split the roster down the middle and had one HALF unobtainable as it's set in another region completely?! Wouldn't that make for a more rewarding experience than a few being unobtainable. You'd have an entire extra pokedex to fill in that could be done through trades because you can't go to the region the other game is set in.
It's not even about complexity. It's about unnecessary fluff they could put towards being complex and meaningful, if they anted to, but they're too busy focusing on fringe gimmicks to bloat the game instead on improving on mechanics they have. I came up with the two regions idea in the space of two minutes, just from considering how the trading system is limited. Imagine what they could do if they applied themselves in the same manner.
Oh and I am sooooo sorry you had to explain your position. What was I thinking not being fucking psychic to know where you think I was wrong. How silly of me. /sarcasm

No Pokemon game. Has EVER. Made that claim.
EVER.
I think the long and short of it that you dont understand how these games work.
The reason im not going into specifics, is because I'm frankly overwhelmed by how much I, and the majority of every Pokemon player I've interacted with, disagree with.
It is not worth the 4 hours of my time it would take to deconstruct and unpack every terrible argument you made, and explain, mechanically, why you are wrong.

It's in the damn slogan of "Gotta Catch 'Em All" that is the point of the game. It's why you're given the pokedex in the first damn place, to fill it up on a collection quest!
How is that not claiming you have to fill it up?
How is that not claiming that you can not fill it up by having to resort to trading and thereby leave that part of the game incomplete?
I've played enough to know how they're played. I've played through from Gen1 to Ruby, skipped black + white (1 and 2), diamond and pearl (saw LP's of them though so I wasn't entirely out of the loop) but picked it back up in X and OmegaRuby. I know enough to know where things are mechanically off.
So, basically, just because you've been met with something that disagrees with your notion of what Pokemon is "supposed" to be, despite the game being able to be whatever you can make of it (or seemingly so), you feel my arguments are "terrible" without any actual explanation other than you disagree.

If I were one to put money into companies, yeah, EA would probably be a safe bet. The list of reasons I dislike them as a gamer is as long and deep as you can imagine, but as an investor, they're really good at bilking a lot of people out of a lot of money despite being hated.
Worked a night shift today, since the job was in an active law firm and they didn't want painters around during day hours. So, fun fact, if you guys wash your hands more than never, you're more hygienic than the highly paid white collar workers at this relatively big law firm. Good job.

All together, I'm usually completely blocked out with work, travel, class assignments, and classes to the point that I've worked 48 hours come the end of Thursday. Three days off, but that's a ruse since there's a shitload of homework and studying that needs to be done during that time. That's just the minimum stuff too, before things like assignments.
Including travel and foodmaking time, I'm blocked out 6:40am through 10:00pm Monday through Thursday. It's as exhilarating as it is stressful.
The good news is, this Friday is the first full day off since I started five weeks ago. No assignments due, no classes, no work. Got the whole day set aside for relaxation and shitposting.
If anyone is wondering, that's why I haven't been posting here very often.
On an unrelated note, if you're a fan of racing games and not a fucking casual, I highly recommend you check out Redout. It's essentially Wipeout minus combat, and it's great. Hoverships, future, challenging and fulfilling steering mechanisms, thousands of kilometers and hour, it gives me a massive nostalgia boner for back when I first got my first gaming platform, a PSP, and bought Wipeout Pure for it.

Be warned.
The newest Update to Windows 10 definitely fucks with things you haven't given it permission to. Including installing applications you didnt ask it to, changing your desktop background to the default (thats just passive fucking aggressive), and putting Microsoft Edge and the Microsoft Store on your toolbar.
Those are all pretty minor, but keep an eye out just in case, and go through your settings to make sure they haven't changed anything.
if anyone knows something i dont, please let me know.

Spartan, I admire your motivation and work ethic to pull off a schedule like that, and I also find the drive to do so to be completely foreign. Shine on, crazy diamond. I'm a little envious of people who are driven enough to not spend hours faffing around.
Also, the House Oversight Committee is live again. Hillary's email guy, Pagliano, has refused to show up again. Despite having immunity, federal marshals serving him various legal documents in person, and ignoring the subpoena for the last meeting. This guy is apparently willing to go to jail and pay a fine to avoid being compelled to testify. His lawyer team is allegedly that because he testified in front of a different committee on a different matter, he doesn't have to show up to this one. It's weird.

These people are rotting my brain.
"What's the point in having him come before the committee if his lawyers say he intends to plead the Fifth?" (paraphrased)

One thing you can do is spend a couple hours on a sat or sun making multiple meals and freezing them. Casseroles work best so pick the ones you like most. Divide them up and freeze them in sandwich bags and put four of them per gallon freezer bags. Trust me, it's so much easier when I can grab a bag of (beef stroganoff/sausage, peppers, onions and potatoes/beef short ribs with barley and potatoes, etc...) and microwave if for a few minutes. You make three of these and you'll have food for weeks. Sandwich bags also make a good portions size.

Committee's over. Parliamentarian procedures are obtuse, but the "Ayes" won 19-15, and I think that means Pagliano is going to be held in contempt of Congress. Or something.

Also a Slowcooker is magnificent. If you have everything you want to put in the pot pre-assembled (vegetables, some roasting meat, a few seasonings, water or broth) you can put that in before you leave for your day, and when you get back you have a hot meal waiting for you.
It really is about 5 minutes of prep time, and depending on how much you put in, that's a meal for a several days.
