Night shift again tonight, but this time, a manager (possibly a partner in the firm) lingered well past the leaving hour. So I'm literally moments away from cracking the five gallon pail to start the very last, big area to close out the job, and he asks me what color it's going to be.

The same color, obviously. One coat, done, refresh the walls, cover up the grime and scuffs.

He didn't like that. So now we're putting on a new color, and also doing his office because of course. So a two night job turns into three, possibly more if this stuff doesn't cover or dry well.

I can tell I would never do well in a strict, corporate office setting. All the handy signs in the bathroom and kitchens about how to act like an adult didn't help with that.

The newest Update to Windows 10 definitely fucks with things you haven't given it permission to.

I don't remember if I posted this, but there's an unfixed bug with the anniversary update that causes Windows to lock up soon after startup. It mainly affects users who install Windows to an SSD, but have their windows "apps" and other programs installed to a separate hard drive. There were two causes, and although one of them was fixed, the other cause is still present. So be warned if you update. My laptop updated just fine, but my desktop suffered the bug. If you encounter it, before the system locks up, go to settings and recovery to restore to the last version, and that reverted it for me.

One thing you can do is spend a couple hours on a sat or sun making multiple meals and freezing them.

I've started doing something kinda similar, making a meal that generally lasts a few days and just having leftovers during the week. I need to start doing something similar for lunches.

If it's the same as what happened to me, you'd notice it within a few minutes of booting into the desktop. Mine kicked in within 30 seconds of logging in.

The general symptoms is that the taskbar doesn't respond (clicks or otherwise), desktop icons cannot be selected or opened, right click doesn't work, and ctrl-alt-del doesn't work (eventually, you'll see a popup with "this application is not responding."

Strangely enough, most programs opened before the system locks up are still mostly functionable. The first time it happened, I didn't notice for a while because I was just using Chrome. Same when I ran the restore. I opened settings before the system locked up, so even as the taksbar froze, I was able to go through settings to trigger the restore.

Edit: Here is the reddit post on it. Sort comments by new to see the comments relating to the current builds, since this issue first showed up a month or two ago.

This is the anniversary update, not base Win 10. Having had the anniversary update on my pieceoshit laptop, it's actually really nice. I like the update more than Win 10, and I liked Win 10 more than win 7 around the same as Win 7 (on second thought, it really wasn't big enough of a change for me to say that I liked one over the other). The biggest issue I have with the anniversary update is, aside from the aforementioned crash bug, that a few settings get reverted back to default, like having the search box and taskview icons on the taskbar, and the new action center thing is meh. But both of those are an easy switch back to default.

Also, I stand by my opinion that the hatred for Windows ten is widely overblown. Like pretty much any hate-circlejerks, for that matter.

I haven't tried it since before that "fix" went out, and if it's working for you, I might just try it again. It's technically not yet rolled out to my device (it's been rolling out over a period of a month or two), but there's an official way to force it.

So I finally got around to looking at that MG Survial gameplay.....and boy do I regret it. They aren't really putting any effort into this at all. The gameplay is getting stale just looking at it and and there are more reused assets then I ever thought there would be. Hell, the area they are in isn't even new.

It's just that base in Afghanistan they kept showing off in gameplay videos of MGSV, but now there's more fog and debris. I miss the days when shit like this would be called an expansion at best.

For me, it's less hate and more fear that some of my games won't be able to run as well/at all if I update. My hate will always stick with Vista, as that piece of shit couldn't even run Knights of the Old Republic.

I mean, when EA's Origin service did a major upgrade, I wasn't able to play Command & Conquer 3 anymore. I can play the expansion just fine, but not the main game. It's the exact opposite with Red Alert 3. Main game runs just fine and Uprising can't even get to the splash screen.

I've been having that exact same issue. Although I'll start up and it shuts itself off after a second, so maybe not exactly the same, but it's been doing that since mid august.

That just is the dont because they dont treat the icons on the desktop the same now the are 'apps' and use a different form of running instead of a exe. So it either doesnt work well or doesnt work at all.

Literally the core game was botched by Square Enix to make DlCs and add microtransactions, it has been confirmed by multiple sources. So don't be surprised.

According to Jim Sterling's source, the microtransactions were added in with only weeks left before the game was printed to disk, and the gameplay is actually extremely well balanced for play without them.

Now story and such, maybe. It's obvious they made the game with at least a sequel in mind. I wonder if this System Rift DLC is similar to the Missing Link DLC, which was an utter trash ordeal (not the DLC itself, the fact that it was DLC).
