There's an update to the board software out, and unlike the smaller, automatic installations, this one would require a fair bit of manual work. Since I'm hardly well versed enough to fix anything if it breaks, I'm delaying until it's iterated on a few times. Not like it matters, as far as I can tell, it's not fixing any security flaw or crippling bug. We're fine as we are for the moment, plus we have plenty of backups in case anything ever goes wrong. So that'll be sometime in the indefinite future.

I'm getting around to making a proper frontpage for this place, with info, links, whatever, since routing directly to the boards makes me look lazy. But I greatly dislike Web 2.0 website design, since it reminds me of Fischer Price's Easy Browse Webtime, only annoying and obtuse.

So if any of you know of any good Web 1.0 sites/templates, or a good design in general, to pull from, let me know.

Should run $70 for the cert, $20 for the domain, and around $200 for the hosting, depending on the rates.

So for anyone who wants to contribute to upkeep, putting aside a couple bucks here and there for when it comes time to pay for these things would be a big help.

I've paid for the SSL certificate and the domain registration for the next year, the big hit comes 9/2, which is hosting. I was going to wait until after it was paid for, but it really doesn't matter. Though the auto-update has fucked up some forum features, such as registration, notifications, and apparently password reset, as well as the banner messages I push, so I'd like to fix those first, or try to, before collecting donations.

...At last. Thanks to Mazder for providing (over a year ago) me with the icons (the vertical alignment really did just look like a pussy when resized down, so I went diagonal), which I then added the text too.

If anyone has an idea for a neat icon for the main, public board, to make the board list look more balanced, I"m all ears.

Yeah, the stars became real hard to see when scaled down, so it looked pretty much like a spread labia, holes and all, heh. So with "NSFW" on top of that, wee bit counterproductive!

Well, I'd say it should retain the color scheme/theme, space, blacks, pinks, purples, but that may be too confining. Otherwise, what represents the chit-chat board...hm.
