CZ Meetup - Vegas in October

I have a guaranteed week off right after my birthday in October. Which is also the off season in Vegas, so the prices are very reasonable. Since there are a couple of you in the area, it makes for a decent midpoint, and there's plenty of stuff to do.

So! I want to get an idea of how many of you would be interested in meeting up to hang out. I'm looking at a round trip, economy ticket price of $300 from NJ to LV, for reference, and $400-$600 for a week in a hotel off strip. There's cheaper ones, but I don't know the area well. Rough estimate, $1,000 up front to get there, plus food, fun, and drinks. Depending on how much money I make this year, might take a day trip to the brothels. Otherwise, not planning on gambling, but seeing the shows, walking around, feasting, all that good shit.

Well, I have never been to Las Vegas and I've wanted to see the Bellagio fountains. The prices are relatively cheap in October too. It all comes down to the date more than anything else. Then I'd also have to get a green card and I have no idea how long that takes.

That'd be a hell of a surprise if one our our Euro friends made it! It'd be right around the 12th, perhaps a day earlier, depending on when my boss leaves on his vacation. Then I'd stay for a week or so. But if the ideal time for everyone who wants to come is later in the month, I can swing it, probably.

Be aware that it's by no means a guarantee that it'll happen. I tend to get aggressively introvert by the mere thought of social interaction. It's a weird defense mechanism I've developed somehow.

It's a six hour drive for me or longer if it's on a Friday. I usually get three day weekends with Friday's off so I can head down on a Thursday night and be there for around 3 days, depending on the weekend. Let me know what day's your're thinking of.

I have a trip up to Canada in July that I haven't fully budgeted yet, but in theory I could make it, assuming nothing unexpected comes up and drains me. I would also need to schedule my PTO for the week literally tomorrow as I'm already scheduled up for Q3 and Q4 and would have to make the arrangements to have my audits rescheduled or reassigned.

I won't know for sure until it gets closer to those dates, and by then it'd be too late to reschedule, so I'll have to reluctantly decline. If it was closer to the NY area I'd be able to make it, but otherwise nah.

Last month my car exploded and I had to buy a new one, which put a sizable dent in my reserves. If that had not have happened, I'd be able to give a hard yes on being able to afford the trip. Otherwise, there's just too much up in the air.

At the rate the on season's going, I'll hit my savings goal for the year in a month or so. Then funding CZ for the year, necessaries, and the fun fund. I plan on buying my ticket in August if all goes well.

So it's not a great surprise, but given how I've lost well over 3 grand directly in the last 3 months, and all the money I didn't make because I cannot work during the busiest time of the year for us, I'm not going to be flying out west this year for vacation. There's something to be said about feeling great and having money to spare and then not. Regardless, it sucks, even if it was probably going to be just a couple of us at best.

About $500 for the flight, $500 for the stay, and I'd planned up to a grand for fun and food was my rough budget. Off strip hotels are surprisingly cheap and look nice.

I've done ABnb in Vegas before and was rather nice. I'd be in for a few days, probably just the weekend, but I'll start getting serious with research.

With my schedule update I can still make it out for Thursday to Sunday-ish. Budget wise will be a little tighter for me since my employment update, but I do plan on having some funds available. So my schedule can be a little flexible.

I'm in town, but I can't host at my place. My father makes that way too difficult and uncomfortable, and I have a hard time getting out like I used to. I don't know how much fun we'd have just the two of us.

I admire the effort, but I think it would really be worth it to wait for a time we can at least get a group of us together. Maybe make new plans and try for a time when we can get Mob when he's out of school and such, Vol when he's feeling better, and maybe even snag Azint or a few others.

I'm not going to lie, just hanging out with me isn't going to be a ton of fun. Not really a party hard kinda person.

Yeah, the timing didn't work out, despite trying to plan this months ago. My guts went bad, and will be for a good while longer, and that fucked over my ability to work, and thus my ability to bring other people who otherwise wouldn't come, and on and on. So hopefully next year will look better. Or the one after. Because at some point, I'm getting some of you guys together for a couple days of fun, dammit.
