There’s no doubt in my mind you would have loved what Neill had planned. Project supervisor @h2.originals. This sculpt is by @monsterman03gmail along with @monstermania2017 and @ayumi.fx . Molds by @jon_k_miller with tech work by @saratheterra and Brian Clawson. @paulkomoda had a hand in other design/sculpt on A5 too.

The sculpt shows a lot of influence from H.R Giger’s first Alien but with a noticeable second set of arms, much like the Alien Queen. While we don’t know much of what Blomkamp’s Alien 5 would have looked like, we know it went under the codename of Red Harvest. Frequent Alien series concept artist Carlos Huante previously shared – and then took down – some concept art he did for the project which showed a lot of mutated Aliens, many of which also had two sets of arms."]]

Miscellaneous news:

Netflix's Iron Fist show got officially canned. The character migh appear in some of the other series, or even in some of the new stuff that'll be in the Disney Netflix equivalent, but his solo series is dead and buried.

Chuck Wendig, member of the Star Wars "writers room"... you know, the guys who spent more time writing lore for the spin-off material than for the actual movies... got fired from both Marvel and Disney, after having a meltdown on Twitter over the whole Canavaugh situation.

And apparently there's a few sources spreading around the rumor that JJ Abrahams is going to pick from one of the worst plot points of the old Extended Universe for Episode IX and have Palpatine return, to make up for the fact Ryan Jhonson killed his Emperor equivalent ahead of what he originall planned.

JJ Abrahams has a lot of work a head of him considering he has to rebuild the faith in star wars again.

Personally, I think the current trilogy is fucked no matter what. JJ has never been good at writing a good ending to begin with, he usually pils up foreshadowing and buildup, and lets someone else deal with the payoff. I don't think he'll be able to creat a movie that wraps everything in a neat little bow and washes the bad taste Last Jedi left in almost everyone's mouth. Especially not with just an year or so of time left before release.

But kudos to him if he proves me wrong.

They need to do what Marvel did and have an end goal with all of these Star Wars movies instead of letting the directors do whatever the fuck, because that'll cause contradictions. Then bitch-slap any director who deviates from that path.

As for Iron Fist...eh. The first season was a snore-fest at best and I didn't bother to watch the second one. Surprise, I don't care about some spoiled rich kid becoming a martial art expert, because I've seen it countless times. Hell, the only memorable scene for me is when they fought that dude who used the drunken fighter style, because I didn't expect it.

Apparently JJ did have an outline for the whole trilogy, or at least some notes about where every main character was supposed to be headed, and Jhonson purposely ignored all of it because he wanted to do things his way, and Kathleen Kennedy allowed him to do so, because she's not really that fond of Abrams on a personal level, and just cared that Luke died in Episode 8 and Rey took over the series completely. So there was at least some semblance of forward thinking.

I just got on this horror movies kick last night because I realized it's been literally years since I really watched any horror movies.

I started with the Babadook and The Conjuring and liked them both quite a bit. I think I'm going to try It Comes at Night next.

Using elements of Kraven’s Last Hunt as a baseline for an origin story would be a fool's move. That storyline works so well and has so much emotional payoff and weight not just because of the plot itself, but because of years worth of history, development and storytelling leading up to it. Kraven and Spider-Man have fought countless times before this: Kraven's obsession and desperation having grown enormously, his fears, doubts, and mental demons playing on his mind that he needs to conquer, his warped perception of his foe, him trying to prove himself superior by being a better Spider-Man, his vow to give up hunting once he believes he's made his point, and more, none of that will feel earned and have the proper gravitas if it happens right off the bat with no build up.

Not to mention that doing Kraven's Last Hunt without Spiderman is an even worse idea than doing it for Venom. Which barely worked and is making money due to the popularity of character, and not because is a particularly good movie.

And yeah, I know thei're already doing the whole "Spiderman MIGHT be in this one!" but again... did the same with Venom, and that turned out to be just a marketing ploy. I won't buy into it unless I actually see a trailer with Spiderman featured.

I saw it before I saw this and I thought it was okay, but not really a horror movie. Or rather it was more horror movie in the vein of like Deliverance and less in the vein of what you usually think of with horror.

It was setting itself up to be like a zombie movie and I was a little disappointed with that because I really think zombie movies are just so been there done that, but you never actually see any zombies so that helped.

I saw Venom today, mostly out of curiosity over the fact that its making a shit ton of money with audiences but is vehemently hated almost universally by critics. My thoughts:

Its not a good movie. Its not as terrible as some of the reviews lead me to believe. Its not on the same level as Catwoman or Batman v Superman, but it does indeed suffer from a lot of problems, some obvious ones being the removal of Spider-Man from the origin story, the super slow start up to get the ball rolling, the super rushed character development for and between the symbiote and Eddie, the PG-13 rating neutering some of the scenes that clearly want to be more violent, and a lame villain. Venom in his full glory does look pretty cool, but the cgi for the tongue and teeth sometimes looks off.

If all you want to see is Eddie and the symbiote arguing like an old married couple and unleashing symbiote powers against people that get in their way in action sequences, you can have fun with this. If you're a Tom Hardy fan, you can have fun with this. There are parts that are very enjoyable. I can see how audiences can walk out of this movie having had a good time. But if you want a Venom story that's more faithful to the original source material, that has the same level of quality as a film like Infinity War or Winter Soldier, then you are going to be disappointed.

Its up to you to decide if the negatives are deal breakers or if you can put them aside and turn your brain off. On its own, if we were to pretend this movie existed in a vacuum or came out a long-ass time ago, it would be a dumb fun comic film. But as it stands, in 2018, with many other comic book films to compare to, there are issues that will stick in some peoples' craw, and rightly so. And it probably just got a lot harder for Venom to show up in the MCU.

So far the latest Doctor Who has been all right.
Nothing massively "OMG DOCTOR WHO HAS BEEN RUINED" like all those man-child plebs would fear.
Although the next episode preview might rustle some jimmies as it's going to the 1950's and involving Rosa parks. Which might be either a double bluff to set the time period to make it awkward for two of our main cast members in a jokey sort of way, or it's going to be a deep lens into the civil rights movement.
I hope the former as it'd fit a little better.
Doctor Who doesn't usually get very political even when dealing with deep politics issues.

I hope it's not a mouthpiece episode. Only time will tell.

Yeah I saw Venom, it was average. Not good, not terrible. The antagonist was miscast, not intimidating at all, Venom was a cool character though imo.

As for TV i've been watching The Expanse, idk how it slipped under my radar for so long, it's actually pretty good, got kind of addicted to it and watched all 3 seasons in a week. Set in a dystopian not too distant future where Earth is overpopulated and economically collapsed to the point only 50% of the population is employed and the rest on welfare, tensions with Mars who are an independent colony of 4 billion and extremely militaristic and independent, and the belt where all the poor working class miners live caught in between being treated like shit. Add to that mixture an unknown alien super-weapon from a long dead civilization that they aren't sure whether or not its a conscious entity for a while.
