Ffs... can I not be right on this for once?
The complete casting call of Netflix's Cowboy BeBop is out and yeah... thei're race-swapping all 3 main characters. Spike and Faye will be asian, and as previously hinted Jet will be african american.
Now... I know it's an anime adaptation. But what in the name SPIKE SPIEGEL makes people think of "asian"?
Oh, we can do a Ghost in the Shell movie where motherfucking Motoko Kusanagi is played by an american (who's actually a literally white-washed asian in the movie's story), but the live action of the anime that is supposed to be one huge love letter to western movies and music? Oh no, they need to be race-swapped.
Gaaah...

In Deep Space Nine, Section 31 took great pains to remain secret, off the books, and as unknown to as many as possible because they will violate any and every law, constitutional right, moral principle, or political value the Federation claims to hold dear to accomplish their goals if need be, including the total genocide of sapient/sentient species (They tried to kill all the Founders--the liquid shapeshifter people Odo is a member of-- during the Dominion War using the Morphogenic Virus). Now they're just open about it? You can brag about being a member in public to other officers? That's not classified or in violation of any plausible deniability protocol?

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
The writers of ST Discovery are hacks, and the only reason the show is getting another season is because Netflix paid most of the first in exchange for the streaming rights outside of the US.
This second one instead is being paid mostly by CBS, who also already lost money on those "mini-episodes" they haired inbetween S1 and 2, and risks to lose even more because of the Blue Tardigrade lawsuit.
I'm gonna be EXTREMELY surprised if there's a Season3. Or even only a movie or a miniseries to wrap the story up.

He looks like a fusion of a Husk from ME3's synthesis ending, Nick Valentine from Fallout 4, and a Terminator.

I watched the Spider-Verse movie, and this is the best Spider-Man movie we have had since the Sam Raimi films. It is the best comic book movie of the year, and it saddens me to hear that many people have written it off because it's "just a cartoon."
I hate Sony Pictures, but I have to give them credit where it is due and letting this movie happen. It deserves every bit of praise it has received by the few who did see it. This is a love letter to everything Spider-Man is, and has been. The script is genuine. There's more to it than being a comic book movie about the multiverse, which in itself is a gutsy move as a big-studio film. They managed to make Miles very likeable and sympathetic, with far greater success than Bendis could ever manage. I feel they did even better than Homecoming did with giving us a young and fresh Spider-Man who is trying to fill big shoes. The older and wiser Peter here was a nice change of pace compared to most versions we get outside of comics. He is still first and foremost Spider-Man, but with a bit of "I"m too old for this shit" edge to him. It's done really well, and the movie never forgets who the characters are and what they are about, even if in some cases they tweak interpretations of established characters. It's a multi-verse story, after all.
It manages to avoid the typical Marvel pitfalls, as in they don't squeeze some stupid joke in at any opportunity for the sake of it, and they let the dramatic moments breathe and simply be. There is a lot of comedy, don't doubt that, but the movie is never about being funny or having quips, it's above that. This is a tricky balance when your movie has multiple Spider-Men running around, but they knew how to give them jokes that don't try and steal a serious moment. It is also beautifully animated. The characters are so eclectic and vivid, and every web-swinging and fight scene was a treat, especially since I managed to get a 3D showing.
This movie is to Spider-Man what The Lego Movie is to childhood innocence and creativity. The Stan Lee cameo was unexpectedly touching, and then it quickly becomes funny in a way that only Stan could do it. They even take a moment in the credits to give him and Steve Ditko proper tribute. Stick around for after the credits, it is absolutely worth it.

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
This is great to ear. The whole Spiderverse event was one of the few good surprised Marvel managed to pull out in recent years in the comics, and I was really happy to see almost all my favorite versions of Spiderman were involved into the movie (fingers crossed for Spidey2099 and/or Superior Spider-Man to show up in the sequel). And Miles Morales in particular always struck me as one of the few "Marvel 2.0." folks who could be a great character on his own right, rather than just one more "diversity token". So I'm really happy he gets a chance to shine on the big screen.
Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
Just got back from seeing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse myself, and yeah, its good. Really good. Really REALLY good. Like, holy shit, this is fun as all hell. Highest recommendation. Go see it in theaters. I'm already hyped about what they could do for the sequel.
This is Miles' movie, and he's served well, but the film also does a great job introducing and balancing the rest of the cast. Spider-Man Noir steals almost every scene he's in.
One of the best after credits scenes of all time.
