Well my grandmother is getting worse apparently not sure if she survives.

Going to see her tomorrow if she lives that long.

Gotta prepare for the worst now, just in case.

Some advice, if you are willing to accept it, is to not be overly concerned about whether or not you are mourning properly, or feeling the right emotions. Just do what you have to do.

yeah I would visited her sooner, but things got in the way in more ways then one.

I'm pumped. I've been playing FFXIV for five months now, and it is a fantastic MMO. The writing started a bit clunky and generic in the original release, with voice acting that was...well, bad, but since then, in 5 years and 2 add-ons, it has managed to constantly top itself quality-wise. There have been several moments that really wouldn't be out of place in a proper Bioware game.

Plus it is more and more likely that we'll get to explore Ivalice in the next add-on. The most recent 24 players raid is already Ivalice-themed, with many FF Tactics and FF XII characters and bosses being either mentioned, met or fought, and even the main story has started to mention Dalmasca as being part of the universe. And, well, the new playable race is the Viera.

Seems like at my very best, I can hold my own with low GMs. At least in Quickplay, when they're not playing their main heroes. And there's no team coordination. So while I'm still well short of that level, it means I could probably make it if I put time in. Honestly I'm happy to have made Masters consistently. But there's always an allure of the top of the ladder being _right there_. Well, unless you count top 500, which there be autism, that's full-time player territory.

Well saw grandmother and she looks rough to say the least, but she is sitting today and was clear enough in the head that you could talk to her.

She was very happy to see me, she smiled when I told her to get better so we could get back to the good old days.

She also expected to be moved out of intensive care soon so she is getting better, slowly, but there might be a chance she might make it, so the bad news yesterday was overblown.

So I got some good news, which is good, still expecting the worst, but she is hanging in there.

Guess it can be a good thing to be part of a family who is very stubborn and tough.

I really wonder sometimes how those contracted authors feel about having to write dozens of novels of grimdark, where everything goes to shit.

Its not ALL grimdark as I recall. It seems to really only gets grimdark when it focuses on the Marines.

Some of it is downright comedy.

There's a fan comic called Eagle Ordinary that is absolutely spectacular and hilarious. The guy who was writing that was apparently hired to make some official stuff that is also comedic.

I haven't read any of the Horus Heresy novels, so I could be speaking out of my ass here, but I can't imagine any of them getting to the comedic levels of Ciaphas Cain, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM! :mrgreen:

I mean... just look at the Orks.

There's this whole series of novels called The Beast Arises, set between the Horus Heresy era and the 41st Millennium where a giant Warboss unites most of the Ork tribes under his flag and they become so ridiculously and hilariously OP they start to drop moons on the Imperium. With giant engines made of scrap metal and huge orks logos carved on the surface.

The whole thing is hilariously absurd.
