All moved into the basement room. Where I was always meant to be. Ceiling is a bit lower than my height, but I have more room, it's cooler, and I'll have more privacy. It's nice. Got a nice futon mattress, 3" memory foam pad, and a tatami mat. Quite comfortable actually. New desk, can actually sit with my legs in a healthy position, don't have to crane my wrists at weird angles to type or use the mouse. And my own toilet! Which is really amazing. Couldn't fit my nice bookshelf down the staircase, so I had to order some cheap piece of shit off Amazon. People are somehow amazed that I want to look at my books instead of boxing up the ones I'm not reading.

While I dont agree with the childishness of "destroy capitalism" (because boy oh boy, let me tell you what the alternative produces), I do believe that in a world in which Nintendo executives will take 50% pay cuts to keep people from being fired, Activision and any other company that wouldn't do the same can eat shit.

Japan has a fundamentally different corporate culture, company is more literally like family, 80 hour weeks, good and bad, yada yada.

I more don't see it as reasonable to keep employees you don't need on the payroll because your CEO makes a lot. Executives being grossly overpaid is a separate issue from getting rid of personnel you don't have a use for. It'd be nice, but not reasonable to expect.

I believe that for a healthy capitalist society it is necessary for the management to take responsibility for failures, or perceived failures.

Otherwise then regulations and socialist concepts and so forth are the only other solution.

But I have no interest in taking this to the politics thread. Im just saying what i have to say.

I think the main problem with it was the bragging about revenue stream a few months ago. What they are doing by removing a lot of the non-dev roles and introducing more dev roles is a step in the right direction more the quality of their games hopefully. It just sucks that so many people lose their jobs because of a bad recruitment strategy over so many years.
