We'll see, we'll see. All I want is a good movie that feels like a good conclusion to the current stories and characters arc. If that's what we're getting, all is good.

If the major beef is what I suspect it is, and the Russo Brothers managed to handle that whole ruckus in a good way, I'll be particularly impressed. Doesn't cancel a certain stupid movie that came out right before Avengers Endgame, but it's hard to have a flawless track record for over a decade.

Considering what's the current, most trending definition of "whiny comic fan boys", that doesn't reassure me at all. Quite the opposite in fact.

But hey, I won't judge ahead of time.

I have also seen the movie and yes there are some moments that might remind off some of the trends in comics that has been in comics for some years now or like planting the ideas for furture movies it depends on how you look at it.

However unlike the comics those actually feels earned and seems more natural compared to some of the stuff I have heard about in comics these last few years.

However it is a very good movie from beginning to end.

True to form, I'll be bringing up the rear and will get right on top of watching this in like June or so. I like the MCU but I just don't have it in me to fight theater crowds.

So, Avengers Endgame..... it's going to be rollercoaster ride for sure. There will be awesomeness with real hearth wrenching moments, which will be mixed with real funny parts at times. Of course the movie ain't the perfect as some parts of the movie are really bad. However those are way over shadowed with great parts.

Also, for everyone being worried about Captain Marvel's role, don't be. Yes, she got moments to shine (just like everyone) and few of them looks really bad at the beginning, but just know that there is nothing to worry about in the end. I actually liked one particular in the end as it was exactly what I hoped for.

Oh and there ain't any end credit scenes at all in any point. So, if you ain't emotional or shocked in the end or you don't want to pay respect by seeing end credits, you got no reason to stay after it's over.

Just finished Endgame.

Many cool moments, including a gigantic "fuck you" to whiny comic fan boys that made the whole room laugh out loud. Cap clearly got the best scenes and moments.

Well, now I'm really curious to hear what part you're talking about. As I can't really think of anything particular, though I also don't know what comic books fans might whining about. I kinda have purposely tried to stay away from all kind of Endgame related talk before I saw the movie.

That was definitely a head scratcher for me, especially considering it looked like Cap had come to to terms with not being with Peggy and was at least starting to like Sharen in a romantic way at least at the end of Civil War (so I wonder what happened with her and their relationship), if he was still with her then it's a dick move on Caps part to just leaving her to be with someone else.

Then again Time travel is very weird in Endgame, they say certain rules like you can't change the past that'll affect the "present", but you can make alternet timelines (which I'm pretty sure happens a few times over the course of the movie) so I'm not even sure if old cap should even be there to begin with

In my opinion that was something the movie handled rather poorly overall, not because of that moment but because of everything else that came before.

I mean, it's time travel. Time travel does not really make sense for entertainment, or more accurately it makes exactly as much sense as you want it to be. You can go hard sci-fi with it, like Source Code, or totally not hard scifi like the Flash TV show, but you have to stick to your guns.

Here, the movie keeps referencing and making fun of movies with "silly time travel", such as Back to the Future...and actually ends up exactly as silly as them with that Cap ending.

Especially as I would really like to know how a lone cap could return all stones to their locations. Some are rather easy - all those from Cap, Tony & Scott's time heist - but the soul stone on Valmir? The stone Quill found in the first GotG? I know that he's Captain America, but I don't picture him travelling to the end of the galaxy without assistance, especially if he went back around the time he got frozen - where it's doubtful anyone could have given him a ride.

Okay, back from Endgame. As a long time comicbook fan, and supporter of the MCU, I'm gonna now write a waaaaall of text, and anyone curious can see me nerding out for 15 minutes before or after they saw the movie themselves. Long story short, is as good as movie like it was ever gonna be. The MCU has never been nor will ever be high-art, but it did deliver the goods for over a decade, so whatever comes next, hats off to those who carried it so far. THanks for the fun and the memories.

The leaks from a few months ago, about the Avengers traveling through time using Pym's quantum technology to "borrow" the Infinity Stones from points in time precedent to when Thanos got them, was very much onpoint. So if you've read that, sorry to inform you pretty much know the whole story already.

That said, there's a lot of good character moments, the action is satisfying but not overly-invasive (it's mostly focused in the big final battle) and everyone's characterization is very consistent and compelling. Had the clowns working on the new Star Wars movies learned a thing or two from the MCU on how to write their leads, perhaps that series wouldn't be on its last leg right now.

The thing that worried me the most about the movie was... you guessed it... Captain Marvel. However, she's barely in the film, and they don't even mention her backstory at all, she just shows up and kick some asses. Which... fine by me. I can just keep pretending that continuity killer of her solo movie didn't happen. Had this movie been her introduction I'd be legitimately alot more into the character and curious to see more of her. We'll see if they can stir her ship moving forward. Too bad she gets the b.s. lesbian stereotype haircut she has now in the comics but oh well...

Speaking of, I supposed the "fuck you, whiny comic-book fans!" moment Sinekein was gushing about, is when Cap pretends to be an Hydra Agent to sneak away with the Mind Stone. Had I not known I had to expect to see something like that, I would have genuinely had a chuckle about it. It was well placed and made sense in the story. Plus everyone knows thei're never gonna touch that trainwreck that was Secret Empire more than that, so as far as I'm concerned it was just a fun easter egg.

Did NOT expect to see Thor sporting my body type. Ever. And I hope with all my heart that, when in a few years we get GotG3, he's still gonna be with them, that'd be open so many fun possibilities! Him getting to say goodbye to his mom, but also following his father's last advice and hiding the Asgard survivors on Earth was a nice touch.

I have to say I saw both the main deaths of the movie coming a mile away. Yet they were still delivered in a satisfying and emotional way, so it felt more... earned, than telegraphed.

Cap's conclusion also kinda broke the time-travel rules the movie uses, or at least is not too well-explained. But he deserved an happy ending, so I'm going to close an eye on that.

Finally... what does the future old? Well... Thessa Thompson's Valkirye is getting to be the new leader of Asgard, so I guess she's gonna be the new Thor too, eventually. Cap officially passes the mantle to Falcon, which I'm fine with as long as they give him a better costume than in the comics (not a fan of the wings+shield look... seems like the two things would constantly be in each other's way...) and there's Pepper Pots female IronMan armor laying around, so... hopefully they're gonna get someone more likeable than Riri Williams putting that on. And there's a bunch of characters that aren't officially retired, that could ease the transition to future teams and events, even tho the main trinity is officially done. Oh, and of course Captain Mary Sue is lurking around too.

So right now is soon to tell. There's potential for good future stories, and still a good few characters and actors to be the foundation. As long as Feige and the Mouse keep the bozos running the comics away from the movies... I think there's hope for the MCU. Even without its two original leads.

And if it doesn't work... we've got already a saga running for 11 years and spanning 20 or so movies. That's already more than enough in my books.

One thing that really annoys me overall in Endgame because it's marketing getting in the way of storytelling - although in a way that's the MCU replicating one of the worst aspects of comic books since forever - is the

total body count that makes the whole story look almost irrelevant.

Over two movies, the actual dead characters are:
- Iron Man
- Black Widow - sidenote, it makes the announced Black Widow movie totally pointless
- Vision, who had all the charisma of an IKEA table
- Heimdall
- Loki? I mean he should be, but thanks to the time heist he managed to vanish with the Tesseract in at least one timeline, which I'm pretty sure means he can come back. So I don't really count him.

Plus Captain America is alive but out of the fight - still, he got a happy ending.

So, out of the dozens of named characters, you have, in about six hours of screen time, 4 confirmed deaths, with two being of characters you could call "main ones". That's not the tally of a "the universe is ending, everything is doomed" scenario.

That combined with the complete lack of shock value of Thanos' snap in the first part - since it killed many characters which from a Doylist POV had to come back for their sequels - combined with the cancellation of THE most significant death in Infinity War (Gamora) kind of explains why I am getting tired of comic book stories overall. It has many nice aspects, but the stakes are never really that high. The market value of the characters is so huge that actual shock moments are actively avoided. It is extremely predictable, but it still treats viewers like it is surprising.

Like, the "silent" moment where "suddenly" all the "dead" heroes come back behind Cap - that is unfathomably stupid for me. There is no emotion. It's something that could be anticipated since Thanos snapped his fingers. And still, it's framed as if I should be floored to see all those characters waiting for their sequels to actually be alive.

You can create movies with "predictable" outcomes that are still surprising. The two best examples I can think of in the last decades when it comes to sci-fi/action are Mad Max Fury Road and Rogue One. In MMFR, the whole story is "the heroes are chased by the villains in the desert", but it's surprising because characters don't have contractual immunity, and because it's how the action unfolds that has never been seen. In Rogue One, the final success is guaranteed, but we, viewers, know absolutely nothing about how it is going to be reached (unlike the totally unexpected Time Travel of Endgame).

Now in a related but not totally section - another show about death, Game of Thrones.

In about two days the third season of Game of Thrones will air and is supposed to be a gigantic battle where many could die. I'll post here the characters that will be near the battle, to see how many actually bite it.

So, the "threatened" are:

I bolded those I think could die and redded those I am pretty sure will die. Sor for me there's 12 possible and 6 probable deaths. I have to say that my predictions are a mixture of "relying on clichés" (speaking of the future before a battle, "passing the torch" moments...), character arcs coming or not to an end (I think the Hound, Tyrion, Arya and Jaime will survive because the story seems to say they have something to do beyond that battle, while Jorah or Beric don't), symbolism (Theon) and practical aspects (non-fighters are less likely to die than fighters).

The nice part is that it makes 25 characters, so easy to turn into percentages.

I liked the sendoffs the main trio got (I mean... pretty sure we're gonna see Thor again, but if we don't and we're just left thinking he's traveling through space being a cosmic hero/space corsair... that's a pretty cool way to send him away), and I was almost certain they were gonna keep Hulk around, given that since he's a CG character and all they need is someone to do the mocap and a voice actor that sounds like Mark Ruffalo to dub him, so he can stay around forever, really.

But the rest of the bunch? Thanos, a gigantic alien army scortching the Avengers Base... and not even a random casualty? Why? Just to kill or retire them one by one, once the actors want out, rather than in the big climactic event where it would have made more sense? Or are they gonna do something like an Avengers Dissassembled to New Avengers storyarc, where one of the survivors goes crazy and kills most of the others in one go, and then a whole new team arises? It was Scarlet Witch that did that in the comics... and among the casualties there we Ant-Man and Hawkeye...

As for the Black Widow movie... yeah... should have done that before Endgame, tell the story of how she and Hawkeye met, and have their part in Endgame pack an ever bigger punch, and make Captain Marvel after you introduced the character in Endgame and teased the crowd with her. Now it feels just... unecessary. It's like X-Men Dark Phoenix... even if by some miracle that one turns out to be any good, we've already got a finale to that whole series in 2017, with Logan... so who even cares now?

I do have to disagree with you on some parts.

You seem to forget that the Infinity War was actually the "the universe is ending, everything is doomed" part. Thanos snapped away the half of the frigging universe. Billions died. And it's a fact and luckily the Endgame didn't even undo this. Yes, all the snappet people did get back....but all them returned to a world, which was completely different than they remembered with 5 years lost from their lives. That will create consequences to everyone for years to come.

We can't also remember that there probably was hundreds of dead Wakandian?, asgardians and wizards trainees? in the battle field in the end. We just don't see any of the bodies, because this was pg movie. So, the dead count was so much higher. Granted, there were really only few hero characters death. But at the same time, it's not like MCU really had much of heroes to kill with in the first place. It's easy on comics because there are literally hundreds of various smaller level heroes that you could kill in stories for shock/effect values.

There is also the fact that stakes were much actually much higher in Endgame than they were in Infinity war. Not only our heroes desperately wanted to undo the snap and actually succeeded in it. Yet, it's soon revealed that it's possible that our heroes could've ended up making things much worse. Because Endgame Thanos didn't just want to half of the universe to make it better for the other.Thanos now wanted to kill everyone in the universe and then create everything from the scratch. I would say that's substantially worse than what Thanos tried/did in Infinity War.

As for Thanos snap value comment. I have remind you, and even myself too at times, that we here live in a twisted bubble in this case. Because some us know comics, read/follow the media and news sites writing about MCU or otherwise have some "insider" knowledge or just follow movie news and future plans in general. Because of these matters, a lot of Infinity war and Endgame parts could have felt predictable to you or that things will be undone like Thanos snap. But I can guarantee you that there were millions of people around the world that were broken after snap in IW, because they thought that character really died there. And you can't blame them, because twisted bubble that many people live in.

I can also say that as someone that had never read Infinity Stone arc comics or lots of comics in general, I was utterly shocked of things in Endgame especially. Yes, I anticipated time travel, but none of how it was done. I was also not expecting Cap with Thor's Hammers or then final "army" battle. In other words, I think that not knowing comics, reading/following the various movie related news or just actively searching various information is actually a blessing here.

I actually think that Infinity War on its own is a brilliant movie. It is well built, it has many intense moments, and it ends on something actually shocking - villain winning, etc. But the fact that it was a "part 1" meant that all those "dead" heroes were bound to come back, mitigating the emotional factor in its very premise.

As for Endgame, for the end of an era, the actual consequences are very limited. Sure, the world was shaken...but everyone came back. There might be Asgardian or Wakandian casualties...but we never see them, nor are they mentioned at any point. The characters that are mentioned are the heroes, and they never die despite fighting head on with the biggest freaking army in the universe.

And there are many named characters in that movie. From the top of my mind, Iron Man, War Machine, Pepper, Cap, Falcon, Bucky, Thor, Valkyrie, Quill, Gamora, Nebula, Rocket, Drax, Mantis, Ant-Man, Wasp, Ms Pym, Black Panther, Shuri, Okoye, Strange, Wong, Spiderman, Hulk, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch. That's 27 different named characters I can think of in that last battle, and only one does not survive it. They really could have got another 2 or 3 deaths ala Harry Potter while still having the movie feel like a win for the heroes. It's hard to believe that Thanos' army was that dangerous when it failed to inflict any damage on Earth' heroes - the only one that died did so because of his own decision.

Also, I did not come back on that point, but Endgame Thanos was infinitely (pun intended) less interesting than IW Thanos. IW Thanos was genuinely the best MCU antagonist, had personable motives and an alien but consistent point of view that was actually original. Endgame Thanos is your run of the mill genocidal villain. So that, too, was IMO weak.

And I did not read those comics either. I only heard of the "Hail Hydra" drama here. The only MCU comics I read are Ms Marvel and Spider-Gwen, none of which are referenced here. Obviously I cheered when Cap got the hammer, that was the best cinematic moment in the movie, but one "hell yeah" moment does not a great movie make. I mean, I had a similar "hell yeah" moment when Gipsy Danger came back to fight the kaiju carrying a supertanker as a baseball bat in Pacific Rim. It makes the movie entertaining, but not really "great".

I watched Endgame a few days ago, and I've had time to think on it.

I loved it, surprisingly.

I had a lot of issues with Infinity War, I mean to say that I did like it, but there were a lot of things many people were overlooking because they were coasting too quickly on the hype train and a lot of criticism the movie frankly deserved was left ignored by fans. My biggest gripe with Infinity War was that, despite the runtime, it felt too much like half of a story. Endgame may have been the second half, but it was still able to tell its own complete story from start to finish. There were fewer characters, so each one got more focus and we had a lot of the fat trimmed from the cast. Infinity War felt bloated and too ambitious for its own good, yet Endgame somehow managed to complete its own circle, and it's impressive that a movie this big with this much riding on it managed to finish and not fall apart in the end, under its own enormous weight. I actually feel that they managed to make the best movie possible with everything they had and the time they had to do it.

The big character moments were all there, and they felt natural and got the special care they deserved. The movie had a lot of comedy, as to be expected at this point, but I didn't feel like it drew attention from the real drama, which is a problem so many MCU movies have. The emotional scenes worked, and it's because we all have history with these characters at this point, and naturally they have meaning and attachment to us to some degree or another. Some more than others.

This really did feel like the big finish, like their Return of the King, and I feel it worked really well. Naturally, every actor and actress did a terrific job with their character, and it's actually difficult to pick out the highlights because everyone gave it their all. Everyone, not just the actors, but the writers, the staff, I think they did it. This is the best Phase 3 film since Guardians 2, in my opinion, and I can say I think it's among the best film in the MCU. It's actually more emotional than I thought, on my part, knowing that this is the end of an era. I really am going to miss what we had.
