So, tonight's episode…

Melisandre returned for some fire magic blessings from the Lord of Light.

The crypts proved to be just as unsafe a hiding spot as fans theorized.

Night King is dead, Arya killed him with the Valyrian steel dagger. All the wights and white walkers died.

Between the darkness and the blizzard, it was hard to see what was going on sometimes. I'll want to see the episode again after playing around with the color/gamma/brightness settings.

I thought Rhaegal was fine after his crash landing, but then he never showed up again, making me think he died, but then the preview for next week's episodes showed 2 dragons, so he did in fact survived.

Named characters who died tonight: Jorah, Beric, Melisandre, Theon, Edd, Lyanna… am I forgetting anyone? Did Grey Worm and Ghost survive the night?

Cleganebowl is still on; the Hound lived to fight another day, so he can challenge his brother when they take on Cersei.

So the big question: was tonight's episode a disappointment, merely satisfactory but not great, or did it live up to the hype? What say you all?

Well, box office news are starting to drop in and oh boy.

1.2 billion in opening 5 days/weekend world wide. That's insane.

Granted, huge part of that money is thanks to much expensive tickets these days, but it's still amazing. This could be the first time that Avatar's 1st place is seriously under attack.

Legendary!Godzilla is now 11.8 meters taller from what he was in 2014, making him 1.3 meters taller than Shin!Godzilla for comparison.

I think it mostly lived up to the hype.

The main issue was the night setting making some fights very hard to follow. Some survivals also felt a bit contrived, I feel like they could have thinned the ranks more (Grey Worm!)...but they thinned them quite significantly already.

And (Edd aside) all the named characters, even the minor ones, got incredibly badass death scenes. That's what was missing in Endgame really, especially as the one final death was "all-solving", while here, however heroic, deaths only delayed the inevitable (as it turns out, delayed it enough).

Lyanna Mormont, what a character. There hasn't been one scene in this show she hasn't stolen. To go out like that will cement her legend.

Theon and Jorah got incredibly dignified deaths (Theon's arc in particular was really fantastic, one of the great characters of the show), and Beric's was full of subtext, with his "purpose" being fulfilled. Melisandre too ended up a very principled individual, who indeed only lived to fight death.

There were some clumsy aspects, but overall it was incredibly tense from beginning to end, it gave us some great fights, and it sets up a fantastic finale where the "good guys" have virtually no army anymore to take on Cersei...but they have some incredibly tough individuals, and still one or two dragons, plus I assume Tyrion's tricks - and I wouldn't be surprised if Sansa added hers to the mix, they really go extremely well together.

I realize that I was overly bloodthirsty in my predictions, but I still got 3/6 of the "probably dead" (Beric, Jorah, Theon) so that's not too bad. And this battle was such a bloodbath that all predictions for the future went out of the window. The only thing I can predict is a Bronn/Tyrion/Jaime scene, probably in the next episode (but I wouldn't bet on how it will turn out - I think Bronn might be bought, as I still think either Tyrion or Jaime will eventually kill sis').

I wonder now which army will the "good guys" try to recruit. The dothrakis have been wiped, the Unsullied probably aren't much better (but what a badass line holding), the Northern fighters and wildlings have been decimated, I doubt much remains of the Knights of the Vale...there's the Glover coward but I doubt anyone will trust him for anything, maybe some Tyrell or Martell remnants who probably won't want to join...maybe some people from the Riverlands? Some Ironborn brought by Yara? Tyrion or Jaime trying to turn Lannister soldiers against Cersei? I've no idea honestly.

Finally got around to seeing Avengers Endgame. First thoughts, in brief: I enjoyed it very much. Definitely on my top 10 MCU films list in my opinion, though its way too soon to assign it a number. Considering how many characters and plot threads they had the juggle on top of trying to deliver a satisfying payoff, they did as good a job as anyone could ask for. The film's not perfect; there are things I could nitpick, things I would have done differently, but in all honesty none of those things soured my experience or detracted from the film as a whole. Even when the rules for the main narrative crux of the movie get a little bent if not outright broken, I was willing to let it slide. A satisfactory conclusion to 11 years worth of storytelling. It was a long movie, and its pacing wasn't always superb, but I was never bored or wishing it would speed things along. The film knew when to get serious and when to be comedic, and I appreciated that. Some truly great "Fuck yeah!" moments, some good emotional character scenes, a big cgi battle spectacle that feels truly earned and is easy to follow that highlights almost everyone at least once, and some fun comic-booky wonkiness.

The funniest thing about all that is you cant even say they didn't receive ample warning ahead of time. The movie Sonic was leaked months ago and everyone had the same reaction.

As far as the change goes? Maybe it wont be too hard? It very well could be as simple as redesigning the model, adjusting a few scenes, and re-rendering the movie.

The movie comes out in November, I think. I really doubt thei're gonna be completely redoing the model, but the biggest problem I'd say is the face... if they can make that look less like the stuff of nightmares, it'd be a major improvement already.

Exactly. Changing all of the body shapes and proportions would mean all effects around it would have to be changed too, and that would almost certainly take too much time and money. But I would guess redoing the face should be doable, and already make him look hell of a lot better.
