This.... THIS is the kind of stuff that's killing comics, and Covid crashing the markets it's just the icing on the cake.

Marvel has been doing diverse characters since the fucking 1960s... why is so goddamn hard to make good superhero stuff all of a sudden?!

And "funniest" thing is that it's one of those titles shops MUST buy as part of their distribution deals. Thaaaaat's right, they force the shops to buy this stuff, show only the figures of the copies they distributed to pretend they're doing better than they are, and then the stores take the blunt of the loss. Being doing that crap for years, for example with the Captain Marvel comics, that keep getting rebooted every 6 to 10 month because nobody fucking buys them.

But the problem is that nobody wants to read comics anymore, and who says otherwise is a nay sayer 'ist. Yuuup...

Meanwhile there's manga like Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia that every month single-handedly sell more copies than half of the stuff Marvel or DC puts out. No wonder there seems to be another push against manga and anime going, they just cannot compete fairily against them.

Oh yes... the infamous second series. Kinda hated what they did to soft-rebooted the series too, indeed, although it lead to some very interesting new plot bunnies. Unfortunately a bunch of them weren't explored properly, because the series didn't last as long as its prececessor.

Then we got the crappy, kid-friendly total reboot, that lasted a bit more but wasn't very good, and now the more recent stories that are back being a continuation of both the first and second PK series. Which sadly have been very hit or miss, but it's better than nothing. And yeah, that certain glaring issue left open by the end of PK2, does get solved.

Last time I saw PK in comic book form was like 2 years ago in what we Danes call Jumbobog (Jumbo Book) which is a small book with various stories and it's in them Duck avengers generally are which is why I buy them.

But PK did show up in a story where Donald is a secret Agent (long story) and he meets up with PK (himself) and he remembers One and all that. Because of timetravl Donald creates the two timelines one where he is still PK and one where he is PK for a while and then stops (for some unknown reason) and indirectly creates the agency he now works for.

That's the Double-Duck stuff, basically Donald doing a very good James Bond impression. Minus the smoking and screwing. In one storyarc he even faces again the rogue nation of Belgravia, which was originally introduced in PK. Haven't read those stories, but I ear thei're pretty good too.

The New New Warriors I can just point and laugh at, but the X-men are/used to be one of my favorite series ever. And now we have... these. Siiiigh... We went to actual interesting clashing of ideologies, cleverly blended with superhero battles to "This one uses TikTok! This one has an "Insta" account!" Also, once again... stereotypes! Lots and lots of stereotypes, because these people don't know how to human AND the want to make sure you understand immediately on what social group their stunning and brave characters are.

And, yes, even I welled up when Eri finally smiled. Seeing it in the Manga was great but seeing it in the anime, with sound, and Mirio's reactions, it was awesome.

Yeah, the MHA manga is great, but it truly goes "Plus Ultra" in anime form, where the combination of music, sound, excellent voice acting, and fluid animation helps make MHA's story and characters pop to a whole other level. Especially for the critical scenes that carry lots of thematic weight or deliver emotional payoffs.
