Ahah, guess NRS noticed all the "where the hell were Kothal's allies while Shao Khan was kicking his ass?" memes.

Ah, yes, the Bruto grind. I better don't tell how I got mine. ^^
Anyway, I better make some for myself as well. While of course I don't need them on the Demon Hunter, I better get them for my Hunters and the Paladin (although total damage immunities also can be used to get down, fast).
I did Exile's Reach and it was... competently done. I think I won't do it again, because the constant tutorial BS messages "OPEN YOUR BAGS, DRAG YOUR NEW ITEM TO YOUR CHARACTER DOLL!" pissed me off after a while, especially since they kept popping up, when I just wanted to keep my heirlooms equipped.
Anyway, I'm in Pandaria with my new Hunter now, will be nice to play through it again. Although I kinda hate the Townlong Steppes and the Dread Wastes, but I definitely love the Jade Forest, The Valley of the Four Winds and the Kun-Lai Summit. Ah, well. You take the bad with the good. Still my favorite leveling expansion, just for the three first zones.

I sort of took it as not a ton of people having faith in him in the first place.
Outworld had Shao Khan for centuries, he gets killed.
Mileena takes over and is incompetent, everyone starts breaking away. That was about 20 years?
Kotal takes over and, after a civil war, more or less holds what remains of Mileena's empire together, but not much else. That couldnt have been more than a couple years at most.
(Kitana takes over and is overthrown in weeks. Maybe even days.)
I'm guessing there were a lot of people ambivalent on whether or not Kotal survived that fight. If Shao takes over, theyd just pledge loyalty and remain on the good side of the most powerful leader Outworld ever had. Thats essentially what happens in Aftermath until Shao himself is outplayed.

If the official comic is to be believed, Outworld was already in full-on civil war a few years before the events of MKX. So probably more like 10-15 years. And yeah, a timeskip of 2-3 years between X and 11 sounds about right to me...
TheodoricFriede wrote:Kitana takes over and is overthrown in weeks. Maybe even days.
Days, tho with all the time travel and multiverse shenanigans MK11 has going, I wouldn't take it as any proof that she's a good or bad leader.

True, but Ermac and Reptile were the two to stood at Kotal's side since his coup, and before Kronika fucked up the timeline they had no real reason not to still be backing him up. There's a couple vague mentions of when Jaqui defeats Ermac at the end of X that people took as "she killed Ermac for what he did to her dad!" but if that weaksauce of a fight was supposed to be Ermac's last stand, I'm a millionaire lol

Kanji more or less literally confirms his bisexuality In his own dungeon. He says "Men, women, it dont matter" or something similar.
I honestly cant speak for Naoto, because I already had that twist spoiled for me online. But women voicing males in anime isn't exactly a new thing. So even then it could go either way.
Dojima is fine. i like him. But hes no Sojiro.
Yosuke really should have been a romance option. I think it would have worked.
Yeah, I find her voice cute, but when she lays it on thick, it makes me think of people who chew loudly. I don't put up with that shit.
Just cleared Kanji's dungeon. Seems like the most consistent crash is from attempting more than one level of a dungeon in a row. Probably a memory value gets fucked up. Have to evacuate out, save, then go back in, and it's been functional thus far. Playing on Hard, taking me 2 days to clear the dungeons, to my embarrassment. But yes, he's clearly into cute things, regardless of gender, and that's quite respectable. Manly, even. Still, the lisping, hyper-queer shadow is a fun bit of camp that I wish could still be done.
Perception colors experience. I didn't know at all, so I remember finding the voice suspicious, women voicing young men is very common, so I didn't make the connection until a fair while later.
Different flavors. I like Dojima interrogating you over the kitchen table, always being suspicious, then the later stuff. Nanako is also a better little sister sort than Futaba, because Nanako doesn't inspire impure thoughts. Sojiro was better overall as a pillar of the story, and a better man, but the strength of Dojima is fun too. Good characters.
Maybe. Not sure what they would have done with that, given the romances pull a lot from anime tropes to make them work. It would potentially be too distracting because the extra steps needed to make it fit would detract from the fantasy and strict content limit.

Hey, magnus, how'd you get your Bruto?!
In the olden days, I used to be able to make the jump from the edge of Tanaris, near ZF, into Un'Goro, without a cloak, and survive. Though the proper path down the ramp was more interesting in welcoming you to Jurassic Grind, figuring out lethal drop points was _skill_.
Eh. It's for total noobs, but my disdain for mandatory tutorials you cannot disable has grown lately. No options for that?
I like MOP quite a bit, but the leveling was in some ways the midway point between old and nu-Blizzard design, and I didn't enjoy it as much as other expansions because of it. That said, who the hell would level in the Dread Wastes? That's a _flying_ zone if there ever was one.

Chie is Chie. Shes probably the most memorable character in the game. I understand the love for her completely, she can just be a bit much at times. Shes basically female Ryuji
Well the shadows, and what the shadows want is a bit... complicated. Maybe keep a closer eye out this time around. It's hard to truly take anything shadows say at face value for one specific scene near the end of the game. But yeah its fun to see that old stereotype. I cant believe I'm nostalgic for a time when that was acceptable, but whatever.
I wish I lived in a world in which Naoto hadn't been spoiled for me, but well, such is life when you look up romance options ahead of time.
Nanako is the better little sister, sure, but only because she actually serves that role. I never saw Futaba as 'little sis'. I dont really understand how anyone does. If anything Morgana is 'Little Bro'.
As far as Yosuke being a romance option? I dont know, it kind of writes itself. Hes a teenager, he is questioning his feelings and doesn't know what to make of it. He has his gay panic scenes, gets closer to Yu, and realizes that there is a part of himself he has been denying. He can still be horny for the girls even, maybe hes Bi.

I got a 40 hour / week well-payed job (at least good enough so that I can live at the level of quality of life I enjoy and can put a bit of money in the bank each month), so I just bought WoW-tokens and sold them on the auction house, to the tune of 600 Euros.

Yeah, I used to to that, too, at least on the classes which had some falling reduction (druids and the like), but who has time for that nowadays, with 40 hours / week jobs. ^^
Vol wrote:Eh. It's for total noobs, but my disdain for mandatory tutorials you cannot disable has grown lately. No options for that?
So well hidden in the menu that I only discovered the option after I was finished. Very frustrating.

Jade Forest and Valley of the Four Winds are excellent and I got through the first part of Kun-Lai Steppes. Then I changed to Mount Hyjal from the Cataclysm expansion, where I am now at level 41 and I'm going to go to 50 today. All those zones got quest hubs where the quests are tightly clustered, so that you can knock out multiple of them in each step and there is not a lot of grinding mobs involved (except one Neseringway quest hub, but that's expected).
I actually don't enjoy some aspects of the later leveling zone design, where you automatically get assigned a meter to fill of activities to do in some areas of them. Although I'll happily admit that Gorgrond Jungle is super-efficient about it. Sadly they disabled the XP boost potions, so that you could knock out a huge part of quests there, kill the rare mobs which dropped an item to deliver to an NPC for another quest reward, fill up those meters/objectives to just before you get the XP reward, then drink the XP boost potion and deliver all those quests / kill the last mob to get a huge level boost. That was a bit grindy, but the reward was worth it.

It wasn't that, at the time when I started playing Persona 5, I was in the middle of other things and I found myself with not enough time to grant it the attention it deserved. I always intended to pick it up again, but by the time I was ready to do so I was informed of Royal and I figured that waiting for that to release would have been the better option. I bought Royal in June, I think, a while after it released, but it wasn't until August that I finally decided to start and commit to it.
So, right now I am in the middle of Royal's extended story-tail. The final palace, the big endgame is on the horizon, and my Stands Personas are looking fierce and beefy.

Well, thanks for the KS recomentations. The platform might not be what it used to, but I still like to chip in to support good indie games.

Looks like another job at the shore. I'll be gone for 4-5 days, about. Don't do nothing I wouldn't do. And if you do, do the opposite, until you do what I would do if I'd done a do that didn't do well.
Up to the red herring dungeon. Got the white-furred monkey guy on point, he's always a good persona, and got a lucky skill up card on that divine damage spell, so I can finally kill gold hands with regularity.
Chie's mellowed out to an enjoyable level of enthusiasm. The size of the ensemble helps. Though it also makes me wish the games stayed a bit smaller on the main cast, so you get more of each person.
My biggest surprise thus far is that Rise is way more pleasant than I remembered. First time through, I recall being annoyed with the idol concept, annoyed with her design, and off-put by her up/down demeanor. Now these years later, it's rather charming. Though I still dislike her hair. Her being the only girl to actively thirst for Yu, other than Devil nurse, is refreshing.
Kanji's consistently fun. Especially when he's blunt and skips past the usual cliched "Duh duh we can't just say what we mean outright, duh duh."
Got twink Teddie. He's alright. Liked him more early on, before he was pure comic relief mascot. Cute tho. His persona is useless out of the gate. Really, all the male characters have kinda crappy skill sets. Yosuke's only useful for wind damage and clearing enemy buffs, Kanji is the best of the males, because lightning is useful, he's tanky, and he can hit hard physically. But Chie & Yukiko (and later Naoto) are always, always, always worth bringing.
Getting to the point where I'm pretty sure I'm unable to finish certain S-links, and haven't even started a couple, but that's okay. Just a fun run. Might do a 100% run with a guide after on VH.
Good answer. I sold only a few tokens, to top me off, because my will to run Atal'Dazar/Freehold or grind Vial mats or do garrison dailies or tank for the loot bag and so on was crashing real hard. During a price spike, of course.
Now that I think about, only did MOP leveling a few times. JF is the one I know best, then that jungle/coast zone south of 4 Winds, then 4 Winds, then usually the very start of the Steppes. I can barely remember it all, honestly. Cata zones are worth doing because they locked important features behind it sometimes. Rep, flight points, mounts.
Yeah, newer design has some pros. I genuinely enjoyed leveling through WoD, Legion, and BFA with the accelerated XP gain. Enough to do an entire zone completely or a bit of two, and they have good flow and bonus objectives. Feels nice. Overall, I prefer the Classic experience of a harsh, mysterious world, and you gotta go out and find your own adventure, but it doesn't work against the modern end-game only paradigm.

Yeah, I just calculated how many man-hours I'd have to put into getting the 5 million gold the hard way and came out with the conclusion that I would be better off just paying directly for it. But the bruto is, IMO, worth it, for the convenience it provides. Too bad it doesn't have a transmog guy on it, but for that we got the Yak. ^^
For me leveling through the old content mostly is a nostalgia tour, which is why I like the MoP zones so much. It's really one of the best expansions for the game (with WotL and Legion).

Here's a sentence I never thought I'd say: Wil Wheaton is actually a damn good audiobook narrator.
If he's given the right material.
Right now I'm listening to the Merlin Cycle of the Chronicles of Amber and it's pretty great. I'd been avoiding it for a long while because it's fucking Wil Wheaton reading it, but I wanted to hear more of the story and finally got around to it. He's actually a pretty good fit for the role and story because he's given a script where he has to say everything seriously, or perhaps with a bit of wry humor.
Comparatively, I also recently listened to Masters of DOOM, which as a book is an essential story of the early 90's in computer gaming as well as a great biography of id Software, John Romero and John Carmack. Overall Wil Wheaton does a great job with that too... except for when he has to read something he considers "nerdy". Then his voice changes to pure soy and it's just nauseating. Thankfully he only does that when he's quoting an ad in a computer magazine or something.
After listening to all these, I have a new appreciation for when my old co-worker talked about listening to the Ready Player One audiobook, also read by Wil Wheaton. Since that entire book is all nerd stuff and referential humor, I'll bet it's nauseating.
If he's given the right material.
Right now I'm listening to the Merlin Cycle of the Chronicles of Amber and it's pretty great. I'd been avoiding it for a long while because it's fucking Wil Wheaton reading it, but I wanted to hear more of the story and finally got around to it.
