I lost my rag a bit when they announced TLOU2 as best game direction, it's literally a corridor 3rd person shooter. It's been done a million times, I don't see how that is a new or innovative direction?

The (western) gaming industry has wanted to be like Hollywood for half of its existence. Wish granted, I guess. At least we got a decent amount of new reveals. Didn't think I'd see a successor to Dead Space, ever, or that Nintendo could manage to add another character to Smash Brothers that wasn't just a meme or something another company paid them a shitton of money to include. So there's that.

Despite the headache a friend of mine is having with her Corsair case I think I am gonna get the Corsair 760T ATX Full Tower Case for my next update, make sure to give myself the room with a full tower, rather than the mid I currently have.

My initial Cyberpunk impressions... are quite low.
Asside from having a horrible combat system, it seems to be a notable downgrade from the Witcher 3 visually. Why does the Witcher 3 running on a base Playstation 4 look better than Cyberpunk 2077 running on an Xbox Series X?

because of the obvious fact that they worked to try and make the game work on both earlier generation (which is apparently running terribly) and the current generation.

the Witcher 3 didn't get released on 2 different console generations, in the middle of a pandemic.

You're right, it only released exclusively on outdated hardware.

yes, it didn't have to available for 4 different consoles (with the generation tech making things even more difficult) and pc on launch, then there was a pandemic on top of the tech aspect, Cyberpunk really doesn't run well at all on base PS4 and Xbox one consoles or so I hear so there are obvious problems, that the Witcher3 didn't have or had to deal with.
Basically the previous generation holds Cyberpunk from it's full potential, DA:I had something similar happening to it (aside from the obvious abuse, the tech of the PS3 and Xbox 360 was so problematic they stopped giving it DLC on the PS3 and Xbox 360 because of it).

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Got to say, I have a completely different impression. Graphics are incredibly impressive, I had already some very emotional moments in the prologue and the combat is pretty good (although I am playing the sneaky tech ninja, so if I'd go full gunslinger things could look feasibly different). I am annoyed that there is no transmog system and so far am keeping the best looking threads, not the ones with the best stats. I fear I'll have to change that eventually. Of course I got a fully tricked out PC, so it's no wonder I got a better graphical impression than a consolero.

I think if you compare it to the first gameplay showings it's an obvious downgrade. However it's the most compact and busy game world I've ever seen, I'll take that over Crysis level graphics anyday.

I haven't been particularly impressed by that at all.
I mean, is it any more dense than your average GTA? So far none of the side quests have been impressive.
This...is really mediocre so far. And I will grant you, I'm not even at the point in which i have met Johnny Silverhand. But I really feel like they did not fulfill their promises with this game at all.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Newegg did a new drop of GPUs today. Literally before the site even registered they were purchasable, they were sold out, at least for me. Why they don't have bot protection on the level of denying transactions that occur in less than a second is frustrating. Scalpers are running the gamut from 150% to 220%+ on resells. Can't imagine they're moving much product, unless rich nerds are willing to pay a premium right now.

I'd say it's a lot more dense than GTA, stuff is lot more tightly compact. It's definitely not at that level they showed years ago however.
I originally had that issue with side quests at all but it really depends which one's you do, some have more depth to them than just 'kill them', 'steal this' etc.
Once you get a few more hours in you might change your mind.

There has been one interesting side quest the entire game involving a monk and the ramifications of cybernetics on religions.
Everything else has been "go here, try to sneak in, get spotted immediately, murder everyone, do McGuffin, 'great job V!'"
Compare that to the side missions in the Witcher. Where even the most minor side quests (Granny had her favorite pot stolen!) had some character depth.
Maybe it will get better, but so far I'm hovering in different levels of disappointment. If someone told me this was a Ubisoft game, and I didn't know better, I would have no trouble believing them.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
So, lots of crazy stuff has been going on for me this past couple weeks... among the other things, my old PC broke and I had to splurge out the money for a good one. Took the chance to get a really good one, so at least now I can play videogames from the current year, and the Photoshop doesn't lag like crazy when I work in high-resolution.
So, first game I've catched up to was Ori and the Will of the Whisps, the sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest. O&BF is probably one of my favorite games period, it's a nearly perfect game and I love it bits, so much so it was the first metroidvania I 100% on the first go, I just couldn't put it down until I had nothing more to do ingame. The sequel is very much a case of "It's the first one, but more", bigger map, more stuff to do, proper bossfights, more powers and more things to find, game-wise there's a lot to love. The story is probably its weak point. Like, the first game had a very basic but perfectly functional story too, the second repeats a lot of similar beats... and then in the last hour or so of game it pulls a turn (wouldn't call it "twist") that leads to an ending that feels more like a series final than a good mid-point conclusion. Tho I have no idea if there's further sequels planned (I assume so because videogames) and maybe that is entirely on purpose.
Overall I'd still very much recommend it. Unless platform puzzles annoy you... there's a lot of those in both Ori games.

Alright, I absolutely try to use non-lethal methods with my V, sneaking up on guys and choking them out (then dumping them in some garbage dumpster), now more using quick hacks with non-lethal damage hacks and, as a last resort, using a gun with a Pax mod installed.
But for one particular gig, I reloaded and went back to kill everyone, including a father/son combo with a grenade. Because fuck those guys. Fuck'em to hell.
So, yeah, while the gigs mostly are not too deep, they can absolutely touch you emotionally. The larger actual side missions (which are distinct from the gigs even in the journal) seem to be much more involved.

Out of all things, I managed to find an optics mod that makes all of my attacks non-lethal, including the Mantis blades, so I started to run around with the sniper rifle and shoot people with reckless abandon whenever they spot me. It'll also be easier to deal with the psychos rather than trying to whack them into submission with a stun baton.
It does make me miss the dismemberment, though

You, uh, alright otherwise?
All my new PC parts are here, stacked neatly behind me, but for the GPU. Given the 970 I'm using now is misbehaving, not sure if I want to cannibalize it or just wait a bit for the drought to end. Amazon fucked up tho, I signed up for the monthly payments over a year and a half, they decided to bill me at once. So that hurts a fair bit.
Might trying pugging the new WoW raid. Can't be too hard on normal, I would think. Haven't touched Mythics yet either. The randomized solo dungeon thingie finally got hard with the release of floors 3-6, almost got enough of the currency it drops to make the good Brewmaster legendary, and otherwise been content to take it easy this time, instead of full clearing the map daily. It's nice.

Yes, I'm quite alright, thanks. Wouldn't be casually talking videogames if I weren't. But I've had a couple... eventful weeks, I must say xP

We got only three bosses out of ten down in a three hour run on Normal, but then again it was the first day, equipment still sucks and the nerfs were not in yet. We'll see how it goes in half an hour, when the second run starts. ^^

Banged out the upper run of Torghast just now. Swapped to Brewmaster because doing lower as Windwalker was dicey, to put it mildly. Had to put down the last boss with 1 life to spare. Thankfully I was broken by then, but it was hinging on some lucky buffs. Meanwhile, upper, cakewalk. Seemed like half the density and a quarter of the elites. Ended up breezing through by stacking the Corrosive Healing buff and spamming my shitty 3k heal in the middle of packs. Stacked on casts, massive AOE.
Watched a video of Sire Denathrius. Looked like a classic "You die instantly if you fuck up dodging" fight!

Yeah, I'm also running Torghast now in tank spec... much easier than with Havoc. It's very frustrating if you run in, do 40 minutes to get to the final boss and then die 6 times in a row to get eaten by the Tarragrue.
We only downed two more bosses last evening. I'm not excepting myself here, but a lot of the other raid members need a few tries to not die to basic mechanics. I really noticed how much less mechanics I need to be even aware of as a melee on some fights, because the range camp needs to deal with them. ^^
