Is it better than the base game's writing? Because the sheer amount of padding was painful at times.

The ratio of time spent in dungeon to time spent dicking around town is higher and seems to be more like 50/50. Because of that there is way less story content overall but a good percentage of that story content is still stuff like "Ann really wants to go get parfait" and "Yusuke insists we go look at this famous statue."

I actually like that dumb stuff and it's one of the main things that makes Persona endearing to me. There are no confidants so you don't have to waste time with boring side characters.

I guess it depends on what you consider to be padding. It's not better. To me it's on par with the base game.

Streamers already showed it off, looks damn solid. Never played the original, because it was too jank for me, despite cutting my teeth on Med 2. So this'll be fun. First game in a while I've been legit hyped for without major reservations. Also 50% on Steam if you own the original, which everyone does.

Mighty white of them to have it last until a month past release. Well enough time to get a range of reviews, plus the initial hype to wear off. Know it's a third party studio doing the work tho, but they've done some sort of mobile release of Rome already. So that's mildly reassuring. Literally the only complaint I've seen from anyone thus far is that one of the new features is 'representative recruitment," where new recruits are drawn from what the demographics of the region would be. But that's on a toggle, as apparently all major new system changes, so that's a non-issue. It's remarkable.

1) Valheim is pretty darn neat, but I'm terrible at construction
2) My mini-painting is improving, but getting a wet palette has enabled me to be lazier
3) In terms of feeling terrible, the last set of deadlifts is mildly superior to being gassed on a short jog
4) Old Bay is actually pretty decent on cheap fish, but any extra salt is completely unnecessary
5) Drawn art skills are dismal at best tho
6) If I'm not paying attention, fancy instant espresso and cheap instant swill taste exactly the same

I had heard of these really old fossils in Australia but it's the first I had heard about the whole "water came from mass bombardment of meteors" being cast into major doubt thing. I always thought that was kinda stupid for nothing better than common sense reasons which is, of course, no evidence of anything especially when you aren't a scientist. It's just that water isn't an exotic substance in the universe. The thing that's exotic is the correct temperature that lets it stay water instead of being ice or evaporating. I always thought it was weird that apparently people didn't believe the water was just here and that it had to come from some place in particular.

I never heard the "mass bombardment" theory. When I took my geology courses in college, they taught the hellscape Earth->bombardments create Luna->volcanoes->chemical processes->massive rains->oceans->life hypothesis. I have heard the idea that life was seeded by bombardments, which seemed to make little sense, as while technically feasible, provides nothing of value.

My takeaway from the article was the idea that once a planet meets a relatively low standard for easy energy transferal, life will form very quickly (geological scale), which could speak to a universe potentially very rich in it. To say nothing of theoretical forms of life that aren't like Earth-based.

Well the Elite Dangerous Odyssey Alpha has launched and it's rather fun.
They're still in phase one of the Alpha testing so things are fairly limited but overall the mechanics are working just as we hoped.
The only downside is before I was playing on Ultra with my 970, 60 FPS easily. And now I am on Mid settings and barely getting 40 FPS.
I am sure the optimization will continue throughout the Alpha. It does make shooting really difficult, especially with my lackluster shooting skills, lol.
It does show how I will need to upgrade this rig once I have the money and the market stabilises.

My father and I will wait until the very end for ours, whenever I next get a checkup or something. NJ's overall cases are rising, whole tri-state is, albeit they're far lower and less lethal than last year, so here's hoping people don't panic again, I can't afford to barely work another year.

I'm fond of how many different forms "krakens" take. Really liked the idea of giant sea monsters as a kid, and since I also was into Magic: TG, I made a point of collecting the BIG HUGE MONSTER CARDS. I'd look at cards like the Polar Kraken a lot. Artwork wasn't super clear on what it was, beyond the head of a giant octopus, but that didn't matter.

Video games, however, have done a piss poor job of representing them, traditional style or otherwise. I can think of 3 fights off the top of my head where you're just fighting flailing tentacles. _Bullshit_.

well we have a vaccine that can cause blood clots, it's not been giving out right now since it has caused some deaths, but our politicians are trying to get it be allowed to be used again on our old people (our primeminsiter has some dictatorship qualities when it comes to her decision making), no one wants to take that shot, especially in my family who has a history of blood clots.

I finished Persona 5 Strikers. I'd give it like a 7.5 or 8.0 out of 10 or so. For what it is (which is a derivative knock off Hyrule Warriors type thing which is just meant to be a fix peddled to specific game series addicts to get a quick infusion of cash) I'd say it's actually pretty good. It's better than it has any right to be.

Everything is at the level of "fine" and nothing actually sucks. The writing is what it succeeds at most. The characters are all on point and remain fun and a very fun well done new character gets introduced. It also introduces a new, boring mascot character who is a stale repeat of Morgana and Teddy's story but with no interesting personality to make up the difference. She also has what I call "anime girl voice" which I don't care about in the original Japanese (Japan can do what it wants) but I have no idea why they try to mimic it in the English translation. Basically it involves some voice actress twisting her voice up so high that she sounds like some monster hybrid cross between a 2 year old and the Wicked Witch of the West being melted. It drives me absolutely nuts and makes me want to do violence to any character that speaks it. (Haru was the only female character in Persona 4 or 5 that was previously guilty of it). It's like the female equivalent of Christopher Nolan batman voice. Even this character, however, isn't bad. She's just "fine."

The combat is pretty eh and item spam seems to be the main strategy you are meant to employ which makes a tedious part of the game come down to large amounts of making and buying consumables to horde.

If you liked the cast of Persona 5 and want to have some more in-character and decently written fun times with them, this game is worth picking up. But beyond that it's mostly "meh."

I haven't tried to get mine yet but it's mostly because I feel like my risk is low enough that there's no good reason to get in a scrum trying to get one. It's like parking in the back of the lot instead of going into a feeding frenzy over the 10 spots right in front of the store.

I can pass this off as being honorable and letting old sick people ahead of me, but a good part of is just laziness. In this case, my laziness just also happens to serve a social function.

When I can just go to my doctor or the local pharmacy and get one, I will. I see no good reason to get on a giant waiting list and show up at 7 am and stand in the rain or whatever.

All the vaccines are being given out. Whether it's me or some other person that gets that dosage adds up to the same social outcome when we have such limited supply.

I'm feeling well, no reaction to the shot. I got Moderna and will get my 2nd dose in the end of April. Both parents got their 2nd shot and my brother is supposed to get his 1st this week.

I'm still not eligible to get the shot. NYS has been rolling out eligibility, focusing first on those who need it most (old people, people with underlying conditions, healthcare workers, etc) and every few weeks, they're expanding eligibility a bit more. Just a few days ago, they expanded it to people aged 30+, so I'm still not eligible for it, despite being an essential worker.

Oh and work has required me to travel all through the pandemic, all while doing cash-count audits (context: cash is filthy - I've never not gotten at least a little sick after doing one of those). It's a wonder I haven't caught this bug.

At least they gave me a covid bonus for it. Used it to get a 6900Xt.
