So I have been playing the Alpha and I have some opinions.
Spoilers just in case no-one wishes to see, lol.

Okay so, to begin, the "Armstrong moment" they're going for is a total fucking miss. You don't get the same moment of stepping down the ramp/ladder onto a fresh place. You get teleported down.
Now,. to begin with it was nice to see the ground from this perspective. The bases/outposts are well made and they have a great amount of surface detail to them, as much the game usually does. Buuut it's only surface level as once you get used to the AI just milling about you see it's just not the same as a lively place we imagined.
The stuff to do on the ground is fine. It's honestly nothing to write home about. Once the visual aspect has washed over you it's interesting but not THAT interesting.
The conflict zones are passible but the best way to win them is to not even get onto the ground and instead camp the enemy dropships and blow up the enemy troops with missiles.
Exploration is good, the tool on the ground works like the Asteroid scanner. The minigame is utter arse though.
Engineering is just dumb. It's literally just the same as the ship engineering with different named stuff to go and get.
Someone has done the maths on G5 engineering suits and it's as bad as ship engineering so...yay.... , coupled this with not being able to swap your upgrades out and the whole engineering system is kinda buggered.
Plus the whole barter system in the stations bars for these materials means another currency to use/not use as it's basically trading.
Why I can't use the credits I earned to pay off a sleazy bar owner for the stuff and they just want to swap makes no sense.
Apparently no-one actually wants to get rich. It's like dumping a whole load of latinuim in a Ferengi's lap but they want the 2 chunks of lint I have in my pocket instead.
Now if they could optimise it a little bit more so I didn't have to run the game in mi-graphics and in 720p on my 970 to get 30 fps in a settlement I'd be happy.
