Though if that's true, and we can trace a clear genetic line from migrants across the Bering Strait into North/South America during the last ice age, that raises some unpleasant questions about what happened to these supposed much more ancient people.

Started Yakuza 0 at long last. I cannot tell if the game is making me feel old or young. But it's charming to see back when Japan was the rising threat from Asia, their boom, and how a number of factors would've made their urban areas pretty damn similar to ours. Story is surprisingly decent so far. I am suspicious of everyone, and have no idea what the fuck is (presumably) buried in the place.

Despite having no known sense of rhythm, I was able to finish out the karaoke and disco minigames in Yakuza 0. At least the ones available thus far. Shogi did not turn out to be a charmingly abstract, simplistic version. It appears to be the actual game. And the AI is scripted well beyond what the difficulty names imply. "Zero skill" is not remotely what I'm getting whipped by.

That said, having not played chess in many years, I checked myself against an online chess bot, and was able to win, so I'm not entirely the retard here. Getting better with every shogi loss, but the damn promotion system and "forward only" units keeps screwing me over.

It took me several hours, but I finally won a game of shogi on "Zero skill." Which is a damned lie, that AI was spotting and counterplaying traps several moves in advance. Finally got a win by playing aggressive with a rook, got it promoted, sacrificed half my backline to get it in their backline, then pinned the king with a captured bishop. _Bullshit_.

After that, winning $5m in Blackjack was a palate cleanser.

Huh. Those OW2 changes are...very lethal. It's good that Sombra has less ability to actively remove other heroes' ability to play. The 1 second window would require elite team coordination to make _really_ effective, beyond calling for a sniper to be ready for the shields to drop. But a team-wide 40% damage, plus 50% extra taken, is pretty nuts. That's a team wipe with any group Plat or higher. The idea of marking is solid, but in practice, with DPS looking even higher in OW2, that's going to be dicey. Playing tank is already rough, much less with an invisible Sombra chain hacking or something.
