Heard someone singing Christmas songs already. Some houses have lights up. Only seen a few pumpkins, a few changing trees. Nonsense.
Weather is finally nice at least. Chilly mornings, pleasant days, cool nights. The proper temperature range for the thinking man.

It's been raining here so things finally got back into the 80s. High next Monday is still 86 degrees. Fun times.

Folks putting up Christmas decorations and whatnot in November? Understandable, have a good day, carry on. Doing such in October? Absurd!
I had a pretty nice summer weather-wise, but yeah, the turning of the seasons has finally made itself known and it is glorious. Autumn weather is my jam.

Having given hard seltzers a second try, Trendy isn't bad. White Claw was, piss weak, no flavor, no buzz. Might've been a bad batch or something. But this Trendy stuff, albeit still a girly-girl drink, is decent. Can taste what you're drinking at the least. So on the Zoomer spectrum of terrible IPAs to sugar water with a dash of liquor, a decent seltzer is a solid "slightly less feminine than Mike's Hard Lemonade."

Hosting's being weird. Was up, then timed out, then up, then timed out, now up again. Seems like it's purely on the host's end tho, as is normal, so not worried yet. Probably whoever else is on the shared server doing something intensive.
And yes! October! Best month of the year, clearly. Wink, wink.

"The first of these revivals will reportedly be a new Castlevania game, described by sources as a “reimagining” of the series currently in development internally at Konami in Japan with support from external Japanese studios. A Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater-centered remake project is also reportedly in development at Singapore-based studio Virtuos, while Konami also intends to release remastered versions of the original Metal Gear Solid games ahead of the remake. Eurogamer has corroborated this report, noting that Konami has mulled over a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake for some time, with one earlier, canned idea being a remake in Fox Engine with cutscenes repurposed from the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater pachinko machine. Finally, VGC reports multiple Silent Hill games are in development at various external development studios—one of which was outsourced to a prominent Japanese developer earlier this year. Back in February, Silent Hill series composer teased a project announcement—“the one you’ve been waiting for”—coming this summer in an interview with Al-Hub, which was taken down at the request of an unspecified party. While Konami has denied that it asked Al-Hub to remove its interview, Eurogamer noted that the company was not happy with Yamaoka’s tease. Gematsu has also heard that a new Silent Hill is in development at a prominent Japanese developer. That studio is Kojima Productions, according to a publishing source that wishes to remain anonymous, who also said that the game is funded by Sony Interactive Entertainment."

Yakuza 0 has an interesting economy. In that minigames are (nearly) all dirt cheap, any random encounter will enable hours of playing. The higher tier bets, that only requires a couple dozen million, which running around town and doing sidequests easily generates. But combat skills quickly run high, from 15m, to 30m, to 50m, to 100m, to 500m, to 1b. Thus far (Chapter 6), the only possible way to actually generate the money to buy much of anything past 50m, or the real estate, or other stuff on that scale, is to farm Mr. Shakedown. Whom is not too bad once you learn his pattern, but turns into effectively a one-hit-kill fight once he activates his final form. But even if you cheese the fight with shotguns, it still seems well beyond the reach of the average player, much less if they even figure out the shotgun cheese.
So I assume there's some massive income increase in later chapters, or, most people simply don't _get_ to fill out the combat upgrades and such. That or the secondary economic systems pay massive dividends.

October means hot, dry, fast winds from the east. Fire season in full bloom. Mostly going to be 80's all month. All my fall crops will bolt because of the heat. Also it's static charge season, so keep those electronics grounded.
I changed the oil in my car by myself for the first time. Full synthetic oil with filter change, plus I rotated the tires and I only had to bike down to auto-parts store twice! Ugh, at least I have all the tools now and a new tire inflator so next time it'll get done in a fraction of the time instead of 3 hours. I honestly enjoyed it. I've been doing more repairs and replacements by myself recently and I'm liking knowing I can mostly take care of my car myself.

Done with Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous after three weeks real time and 134 hours in-game. If you like isometric roleplaying games, there is little you can do wrong here, although I'd wait another month or two so that all the launch bugs get ironed out. I thoroughly enjoyed it, however I also have been a tabletop gamemaster for Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder for more than 20 years now and had GM'ed this adventure path in its tabletop version before. So I was doubly happy to be able to play it from the player point of view.

I've heard it said that the relatively lush, wet state of large parts of California, what made it habitable large scale, was a happy accident of the brief period of time humans have really wanted to live there, but it's returning to a more common equilibrium of dryness and desert. Never bothered to really look into it. But the measures we take for our own comforts probably hasn't helped much.
Honestly, I find it more than a little emasculating how little I know about car repairs (or in general). But hey, good work on learning something practical, my man. Wish I'd been more mechanically inclined, would've probably made a great engineer.

I'm reminded of Steam reviews from people who have 2000 hours sunk into a game, who rate it "Meh."
Most importantly, is there a story worth telling? I'm having a gay old time in Yakuza 0, and in no small, between all the faffing around, there is a story worth telling. Characters that touch on something deeper than bundles of cliches (though they are in many ways that). I'm willing to forgive an awful lot of jank if the story is good. Bonus points for making the effort to do visual storytelling.
