That'll more than double the area of the flat I'm living in at the moment, a bit over 80m². Further away from Paris, but a 10 minutes walk from my new high school, with the train station at the same distance and a supermarket barely further.

Well welcome to the simultaneous most liberating and most annoying thing. If you want to paint it purple with gold polka dots and have 15 cats, no one can stop you. But if a pipe bursts at 3am on Sunday morning, it's nobody's problem but yours. (Unless you are buying a condo or something similar). On the net, it is *so* much better than renting but there are a handful of things that were certainly more convenient about renting like not having to do anything with yard or landscaping and being able to just call someone if something broke. Now, you can get on with the best part which is the accumulation of lots of random junk that your heirs will ask "What even is this and why would anyone want it?!" when they have to clean it out some hopefully distant point in the future.

Squirrel hunting was a mixed bag. It was super windy on Saturday and hearing is the primary thing you use so I only saw 2 which I never had a shot on. Sunday was better but still limited success in getting shots because the underbrush is so freaking thick in this particular spot I went that when you get into a place you actually have a clear shot you are so far from the squirrel that it's really farther than is an ethical shot with the low caliber pellet and el cheapo scope I was using. I had an el cheapo rig for proof of concept and it was sufficiently fun enough that I invested in a better scope and may go up a caliber size as well. But that place is certainly a good spot. I did indeed have it completely to myself and if I had been traditional shotgun hunting would probably have gotten the limit or near the limit. I'll also probably have better luck later in the year when the leaves have actually fallen. It's nice to just have the woods to yourself no matter what else happens.

I also accidentally stalk hunted a deer which I've never done before. He was not legal to kill anyway (too small) but he had no idea I was there and I was not in a stationary blind. This was in no way what I set out to do but it's kind of confidence instilling. Though I went hunting with my dad as a kid off and on, I only got serious about this as an adult and have been doing it for about 7 years now. That was a nice proof of concept if I ever did want to try stalk hunting.

Official mannouncement: Butter in the mustache is the worst possible smell to have in there. Awful. That said, this Irish butter stuff I've always seen is actually legitimately good stuff, even on surimi.

Don't know if anyone is aware of this, goes on Kickstarter today, I'm on the fence on whether to get it as it's a pretty steep price in general, maybe not for the product you actually get though:

It is a condo, which means it has some extra monthly costs to take care of the "shared parts", but overall what you said works: if I get a problem it's on me (and my insurance).

And while it is true renting should have been easier, my landlord hired an utterly incompetent company who can't get anything done if their life depends on it. The only thing they ever did right was changing my hotplates when they broke down. 2 years later and I'm still waiting for some doors to be put back on a closet and for the automatic shutters to be fixed so they can be entirely closed.

The only thing I will regret in my current flat is the condo's caretaker who is a godsent whenever your order a package.

As for the junk, I will finally get to buy books again, since I will have a place to store them.

I've gotten much pickier about what books I physically buy because if I didn't I'd be swimming in them. I usually check them out from the library and if I positively loved them or want them around as a reference I'll buy a copy afterwards. Even so, I have books in boxes and stacked in piles in one bedroom. That is mostly because I haven't bothered to buy more shelves and not because there is no place for the shelves to go. The other main thing that seems to pile up without any particular effort is miscellaneous kitchen doohickeys.

The house was sort of distressingly empty at first because I didn't have enough pictures to put on walls and such. If you happen to feel the same way upon moving in, I'd say don't worry about it because it just gradually fills up over time. It's actually starting to look like someone lives here now.

The only "salad" in sight was lettuce and cheesy pasta :D

Then after we lit the fire pit and just chilled while 2 of us just literally stared into the flames for about an hour and tended the fire.

Uh oh. You're turning into an American. Soon you'll be getting a pickup and seriously thinking about wearing camo fatigues casually!

TTTX wrote:well it did take me 3 days to beat the final boss (and pretty much beaten every other boss, including the mini bosses, in the game so my strength was probably as good as was going to get at that play through without grinding a lot skill points for that mask to raise my strength), once I got into news game + everything was easier especially since I could avoid most of the mini bosses.

I actually found this game easier then the dark souls series at least with Sekiro I don't have to worry about hundreds of different skills, weapons, etc. as an autistic person I get lost in those kind of system easily as I get confused and have hard to choosing what to pick, so Sekiro is easy enough for me to understand, but hard enough that I was challenged.

Still don't want to play the game ever again (just the world story, gameplay, characters, etc, don't grab me so I'm done), I did something most people won't and I'm happy (only 9.5% of the people on PlayStation have the platinum trophy for Sekiro and I am one of them and that's good enough for me).

Have to admire the dedication. I got very mad on the dozen attempts it took me to take down the 6 Spear guy outside the tower where the kid was originally held. Bosses were generally pretty reasonable, a few tries at most, though the Guardian Ape was rough, since I didn't assume I could block his attacks for a while. The real problem I had was those fucking headless fat guys and the summoners, never got the hang of taking them down.

Funnily enough, I had the opposite problem. There were _too many_ abilities and powerups that I got lost in what I _should_ use. I have crappy short term memory, so when I need to keep in mind a lot of options, I need to build "logical paths" so I can derive what I should be doing over and over, until memorized way later. Which a fast paced, highly fatal action game does not allow. I was frustrated with Sekiro offering me all these gadgets, with all these upgrades, on a limited use resource system, and expecting me to figure it all out with only a vague idea of what they're suited for. Much less remembering every single tool and all the upgrades and abilities and when to use each and then actively swapping in combat.

Still, kudos for the achievement! Hope to match it eventually!

My budget on collectibles is pretty well confined to Shantae + Tali schwag, but man, it would be really neat to have a proper set up of Mass Effect stuff, with a model like that. A nice display case of totems of happy times.

Ah, these are for general audiences. Like the premise of having a little personal magic shield, so the weaker monsters don't get immediately shredded by arrows. The lack of actual tactical information is annoying, but it'll come soon, given this isn't for that. Stacking wizards for boosted power, to at least 10, I hope that's a root curve, because linear or exponential would make for some nutty chaff builds. Or maybe that'd be fun. VC is pretty much resigned to running Vamp hero stacks with Isabella, this would be like that, only squishier.

I avoided the guardian ape attacks more then blocked and attacked when I could, blocking rarely worked for me aside from blocking damage, the whole staggering on the big bosses never was all that good for me and I also cheesed the bosses I could like the demon of hatered, saved me a lot of head aches.
yeah the headless ones are terrible you need divine confetti to damage them except for the ones under water (which there are two) and there is the whole terror thing which there is only two items in the game that deals with it.

I mainly stick to anime merch (stuff that should retain value in the future) & the occasional video game related thing. Took the plunge on this one as the lighting does look very nice, was a little concerned about where to put it I keep the collectibles to the "office/gaming" room but I think just one collectible will be fine to have in the living room.

The dream would be have a big room with a whole bunch of glass cases of different types and extravagant lighting to really show it all off.

Yeah, I buy already too much figurines and stuff, so I'm definately skipping on the Citadel. But it's certainly a pretty neat model, hope it gets funded and make a lot of other collectors happy.

Finished Metroid Dread. That was well worth the wait and well worth the price tag. I had so much fun with this, its hard to put it into words. This just might be my personal favorite 2D Metroid in the whole series. I'll have to get out my "honeymoon period" for this game and replay the others again to be sure, but either way, this is absolutely a must buy for any Metroid fan. This is a game meant for those who have been invested in the story, the lore, and Samus herself as a character for all these years, and rewards your investment in kind. If you're a fan of the Metroidvania genre but haven't tried Metroid itself, then perhaps hold off on this game until you've at least played Zero Mission, Samus Returns, Super, and Fusion, because this is the culmination of that whole narrative journey and it has a ton of Easter Eggs and references you won't appreciate or understand unless you've played those.

The controls are very fluid and feel great, the art style is lovely, the graphics are very nice by Switch standards, and the level design is top notch. The game encourages experimentation and was clearly built for replays and speed-runs in mind, because there's a ton of shortcuts and intentional and unintentional sequence breaking in here. (Some of the things that have already been discovered by hardcore Metroid fans are insane. Everything from getting a ton of items early to skipping whole bosses and areas) The world is more linear than Super's, but more open than Fusion's, to get an idea. The counter mechanic is back, and its much better here than it was in Samus Returns, and its completely optional as well. The Flash Shift Aeion ability is so useful, I want it to be in every 2D Metroid game from now on. Samus herself is treated like the badass professional she is and she just oozes emotion and personality with her body language in every scene. Mercury Steam understands what makes Samus tick and why her fans love her. Dread delves into her adopted Chozo heritage and it mines that potential in a way that is very satisfying. One weak link was the music which isn't bad but doesn't come close to the heights the franchise is known for for the new tracks.

This game is more challenging then your average Metroid for sure, but not to the extent some online are making it out to be. Hollow Knight is way more difficult than this. Some folks are just too lazy to learn the controls, identify attack patterns from enemies and bosses, can't be bothered to just explore the map and experiment with all your abilities. The learning curve is very organic and the game is very generous with save spots and checkpoints so if you die, you don't lose all the progress you've made. The game is hard but fair; it doesn't hold your hand, but it does give you all the tools to succeed. Every time I did die, it was because of a mistake on my part, not the game's. There are some tricky puzzles, but nothing some trial-and-error can't solve. Most of the bosses will kick your ass if you rush in recklessly with no plan, but if you take the time to observe their behaviors, and remember to act defensively and make full use of your abilities, you can overcome them. And if you get lost, then just shoot or bomb everything. And if that doesn't uncover a secret passage, then leave and come back when you have more items. Dread has you bouncing back and forth between areas frequently.

The EMMI sections change up the pace of things in a good way in my opinion, as you'll either have to navigate those areas in a stealthy manner when you're unfamiliar with the terrain, or run through them in a rush to get to a safe area as the EMMI chases you if you are. They never get annoying to the point of being frustrating, but they do keep you on your toes.

And if you've ever wanted to know more about the Chozo (and why wouldn't you, because the Chozo are cool as fuck), then this is the game for you, because this gives you a deep dive on the bird aliens. There's even enough info on their language in this game that some hardcore fans have already pieced together their alphabet, sentence structure, grammar, etc. You can learn to read, write, and speak Chozo if you want.

Adam --or rather, the A.I. version of him-- is present, but he's in line with the way he was depicted in Fusion, so there's no need to fear Other M's shadow here.

Annoying to see that the praise the game is getting has caused certain folks online to attack it and try to sabotage its success, and equally as annoying, a ton of Other M apologists have crawled out of whatever dark pit they've been lurking in and are trying to convince people that Other M is a misunderstood masterpiece. Ugh. Best to just ignore them.

But dude, the plot, I gotta talk about it. MEGA SPOILERS:

Been faffing around in Yakuza Kawami (remake of the 1st game). It's...odd.

Combat is better tho. Can deal with random encounters in 2 button presses in Beast form. Annoying how many skills are only active when you're on death's door or drunk, two states I would never linger in.

Having played Yak 0 first, there's a lot of references, and apparently entire new content in the remake, solely as fan service. A moment in 0's ending makes perfect sense now, and it's rather bittersweet. Also playing these games on an empty stomach is a poor decision.

Not sure if "Best Audio" is supposed to include the soundtrack, but if it is, it's a crime that Wrath of the Righteous isn't nominated. The soundtrack fucking rocks. If they simply don't have the category, also a mistake.

The animals that may exist in a million years, imagined by biologists

I have absolutely no idea how credible this is and I haven't even read it, but I've seen people here talk about this so thought I'd drop it in case it was of interest.

Speculative evolution is very fun topic. It's also the scientific equivalent of good fan-fiction, tho. You CAN realistically expect that overly-specialized animals will eventually go extinct without descendants and that the vacant niches will be filled up by the spawns of the more resistant, fast-propagating generalist species, but other that that, everything is up in the air.
