I won't, can't handle seeing him like that, Grandmother doesn't have the energy (we have just been very sick and she had also some other stuff wrong with her) for it also seen a lot of people dying during her life which makes this even harder for her and one of my uncles can't stand to watch him like that either, mentally he can't handle it.

as for my other uncle and cousin well we aren't on good terms with them anymore (because of reasons I won't air here) so we haven't told them anything, so that is a bomb ready to blow in future.

right now it is only my mother that goes to see him which isn't good for her since she also sick (she gets blood clots from time to time) and she is a daddys girl so that is putting a lot of stress on her.

Started Elden Ring. The story so far has me worried, because it's the nearly exact premise as Dark Souls, along with even some shared symbolism. The classic "welcome" boss was expected, and seemed beatable unless he had some berserk phase further down. Tutorial area was fine, though I can see why journos are complaining, because if you don't already know the systems, you're not going to get much from it. Entered the open world area, which was neat, killed a bird, picked berries. Got called an incel by the first NPC I met. Saw a patrolling knight on horseback in heavy armor, which I immediately assumed was there to kick your ass and be an easy mini-boss later on when you're stronger.

Naturally, I've spent most of my 2 hours of playtime bashing my head against him. Can get him to his second phase fairly consistently, though some attempts I fuck up the first dodges and get flattened. But his shield bashes with the AOE explosion always get me, especially the one that one shots. Not sure what the intended avoidance is. My complaint isn't that he's hard, it's obvious he's meant for fighting later, but that you can't use the new systems, or old ones, beyond plink and roll. Trying to jump attacks got me flattened, so no i-frames I guess. Trying to parry was as useless as ever. Stealth did nothing. Cannot dismount him, though the tutorial specifically taught a dismounting attack. So while it's obvious you're supposed to come back later, it's technical possible (I hope) to beat him at the start, but you cannot use the interesting combat systems. It's not a big deal, but given this guy has a very impressive number of moves, variations, and scripting put into him, to exclude neat vulnerabilities is silly.

for the most part yes, he was already getting bad these last 3 years so him dying isn't the biggest surprise, still hurts, but we all knew where it was going.

Getting close to being done with Cyberpunk. So far as I can tell, I just have a few more missions having to do with Johnny's old band and maybe one more having to do with investigating the death of the mayor. And then endgame stuff.

Game is solid with some notable issues. The physics are clunky. It's got more quest breaking bugs than is excusable at this point. (Had to incessantly reload of 3 separate side quests to be able to finish them). Way too much mindless filler content that is totally unnecessary and adds nothing to the game. Car controls are squirrely.

That being said when the game is on point it is on point. Haven't played dude yet, but the female VA for V just blows it out of the park. V is a very set protagonist like Geralt, which means a lot rides on that innate flavor being likable. And they did a good job with this. When done well, I usually end up being able to fall into this type of character more than any other. The strong preset I can mold as opposed to either blank slate or completely set.

And having douchebag rockerboy Keanu Reeves in your head is so weird but done so well. Different from having a party member or sidekick character. Can't say I've ever actually encountered something quite like it in a game. By the end, I really wasn't thinking of my character as just her but as some amalgam of her and Johnny.

No complaints on any major characters (except sometimes Panam/River is pandering to the level of being somewhat cringy).

I'm glad I waited so long to play it so the really horrible stuff mostly wasn't there to pollute the experience. Overall, probably irons out to like 8.5 or 9.0 but just the story & characters on their own is more like 9.5.

The male VA does a great job, fits the character well. Though as a Nomad, "should" have had a different accent, like whatever Panam's was supposed to be, but it didn't bother me.

I enjoyed the interactions, what the plot led to, but the concept of Johnny's engram slowly converting you into him/killing you wasn't to my tastes. It reminded me of Dying Light, where you get the controls slapped out of your hand to be forcibly hobbled for an irritatingly long time while talking about how bad the infection is getting, and how you gotta fight _harder_ to get the MacGuffin to save you. Even more so in this case, because there is almost no meaningful discussion of the philosophical topics at play. The story touches on them, but you take what's given, like SOMA.

If and when I do a female Corpo playthrough, I imagine the situation to be more adversarial. The intrusion and consequence is significantly more violating. I tried to be buddy with Johnny as male V, though I apparently missed a few points for the Best Ending.

Elden Ring: Does a great job of giving an open world a sense of adventure, that I haven't seen in a long time. Albeit, the rewards aren't great, but exploring without knowing what I'll find, and sometimes finding a dungeon, or something neat, is more gratifying than a map full of waypoints and a system so rote I can reverse compile the design doc.

On the downside, enemies have way too many abilities. The Black Knights in DS1 had a small, predictable move pool and script. They were deadly even at the Kiln, but like the Silver Knights gratifying (usually) to learn to beat. Whereas I'm dealing with oversized knights right now that cannot be blocked, parried, or consistently backstabbed fished. They have hyperarmor, instant attacks, perfect track big attacks, and even AOE stomps. It's almost not worth trying to fight them, because laming it out at range would be the correct response, but the mana cost, for a very small soul return, is silly. And that's perverse behavior to encourage, not engaging with enemies that clearly had effort put into their creation, because it's asinine to bother.

On the plus side, had a fun moment, while avoiding an open world boss I have no shot of beating, found some ruins. Bunch of zombies, some dogs, cleared it out, got a neat item, then found a chest. The chest spewed a teleportation fog, ended up in what looks like a late game zone, scary aesthetics, danger senses all tingling, and it was a mad dash to get the fuck out and find a bonfire.
